First time posting here as have never been big into fitness but a month ago I started a job where essentially all I do all day 9-5 is lift 20-40kg bags around in a warehouse and am wondering if I'll notice gains by having a protein shake everyday when I get home from work?

You might lose bodyfat, grow some back and forearms but thats about it.
Be careful with your back, Big Guy
Heard tons of horror stories since starting as well as a guy I work with suing the company for fricking up his spine, I use the forklift as much as I can but still lifting 50+ 20 and 40 kg bags everyday
just keep your back straight and your heels on the ground, you should be ok, take a wider stance if you have to
>lift 20-40kg bags
What country are you from? Here we have laws against lifting more than 25kg at work if it's constant like you're describing.
Ireland, pretty sure we've got similar laws but haven't had a point where I felt I needed to stop yet, was told a bunch of times if I don't feel comfortable with the workload at any point I can ask someone else to do it but I'm not that sort of guy
>haven't had a point where I felt I needed to stop
Pretty sure when you get to it, it's already too late.
You're right, I doubt I'll be in the job much longer 6 months at most as the main reason I took it was they provided training to get forklift certified, huge staff turnover rate as most people my age last a couple of months at most
Had a lot of guys with your mindset at my former job, industrial vehicle mechanic, all of the guys over 40 had hernia.
All of them lifted heavy weight without precautions to show how big and strong they are and now with hernia, all of them have had another guy squeeze them by the balls
Universe is funny
Nah. You’re going to have to learn to use efficient lifting techniques that minimize how much you use your muscles. Warehouse work is about using gravity and leverage to do a lot of the work.
you're gonna frick up your spine long term
more protein definitely wouldn't hurt, and like others are saying, take care of yourself
You're big into fitness dick in your ass
I work a similar job with lighter weights but I've seen a lot of people hurt themselves and generally end up with a lot of aches and pains because they didn't exercise outside of work.
I strongly recommend you to eat more food than you think you need (to start off anyway) and go to the gym after work, even if you're tired. You'll feel better after you warm up.
Trust me, you don't want to be one of those old guys who can barely stand up without help.
done same as you and no you wont see much, you will get noticably stronger+get big lats+triceps not much more. most muscle i got out of work was being ironworker
also i would rec wearing brace under shirt but up to you
>I do all day 9-5 is lift 20-40kg bags around in a warehouse
I would recommend you do train your lower back, doing this stuff you probably spend most of your time hinged over or your spine under load.
>First time posting here
frick off dyel
Instead of a protein shake why don't you eat some food
You better be finding a way out of that job. 3 years tops.
When I worked at a similar job all the guys were either ultra skinny but strong or fat
always make sure your spine is neutral when lifting shit and make sure to wear knee braces. patello-femoral pain syndrome is a b***h and often lasts a lifetime.
make sure to do stretches for your back/sacroiliac/piriformis a few times a week, knees to chest sort of stuff
Yes. You'll be very well conditioned too. If you can get to the point of moving 40kg all day, you'll have literal farmer strength.
You're warehousin' it up too, anon?
>warehousin' it up m-f
>gym every day m-f
>farmin' it up sat-sun
