How heavy squats do I need to do to start doing a martial art? I don't want to emberass myself with weak kicks. I'm thinking 150 kg squats should be enough for karate. Am I wrong?

I think pistol squats would benefits you more
Don't post any more
How are there people this stupid
we're talking about bone density are we not?
I thought he wanted to improve his kicking skill with squats, which is quite literally what he said anyway
Heavy squats increase bone density and maximum force output. Which increases the upper limit of your explosive power. moron.
In theory. In practice, it's different.
No it isn't, you obstinate. People who chase squat numbers just typically don't train for combat sports so they lack the skill and mobility to use their strength for kicking. If Tom Platz had trained for MMA his kicks would fricking kill people.
>No it isn't
Yes it is. Try it for yourself. Heavy lifting makes your strikes weaker.
Speed is slightly slightly slower not power
Ok but why would he do that in advance if he cant even throw a good kick?
Oh well of course the idea of a prerequisite squat is silly, you should start working on new skills as soon as you decide you want to learn them. Best time to plant a tree and all that. But if you take two identical guys and make one squat heavy, he'll kick harder than the other one.
>we're talking about bone density are we not?
We are not.
>I thought he wanted to improve his kicking skill with squats, which is quite literally what he said anyway
He did not.
You are deeply unintelligent.
This is why heavyweights hit so soft.
You only need lightweight around 500 lbs or so
At least 3-4 pl8 if you wanna snap 2x4s and femurs with your shins.
I did Kickboxing briefly about 5 years ago trust me.
>snap 2x4s and femurs with your shins.
Good luck with the 2x4s (martial arts tricks are all frauds). You're going to break your leg regardless of how much you squat.
For some reason MMA fighters don't have big legs. I wish there was an MMA fighter with huge legs who smashed everyone.
heavy squats are the exact opposite of what you want for strong kicks. If anything you want explosive squats.
Most powerlifter cant even raise their leg above their waist.
What does have to do with the thread?
Because wanting to squat moronic amounts of weight (like powerlifter) requires you to get fat and sacrifice your athleticism and mobility, both of which are needed in martial arts. Much more than some gay 500 lb squat that nobody cares about.
>Because wanting to squat moronic amounts of weight (like powerlifter) requires you to get fat and sacrifice your athleticism and mobility,
Not really, it just takes longer if you get fat and even if you get fat unless you don't go below parallel and never stretch you don't lose mobility and can lose the extra fat later.
500x5 squat is the minimum strength standard for non-manlet mma fighters.
Do the following
>Power Cleans (You want explosive power from the hips and glutes more than anything) for 1-3 reps
>Front Squats for 3-5 reps
>Trap Bar Deadlifts for 3-5 reps
Drive all those numbers up and you'll have a strong baseline that just needs technique.
>How heavy squats do I need to do to start doing a martial art? I don't want to emberass myself with weak kicks. I'm thinking 150 kg squats should be enough for karate. Am I wrong?
I'm not sure there's a lot of crossover between heavy squats and kicks more about technique, no?
Heavy squats will make your kicks weaker.
>making your leg muscles stronger will make your kicks weaker
Yes.
Train your CNS to fire slowly and your strikes will suck. Simple as.
You get good at kicking by kicking.
Do SS+GOMAD
This is fricking moronic.
Fat guys hit hard because they have weight.
Power comes from the core the knee hinge is more of a little extra frick you.
The reason you don't see a lot of jacked massive bodybuilders outside of the heavy divisions is because heavy arms and legs make you drop your hands from burnout earlier.
Also fudging the weight divisions, packing on as much muscle at a lower bodyfat% to make weight one division lower than some dudes realistically should be in.
But I don't doubt for a fricking second a builder like Cdub could hit hard as frick with a month or two of technique training under his belt.
You dont need to loft for martial arts. Its about technique, not strength
