yeah
You should try it at gym for a few weeks before you buy one. I personally didn't know I straight up hate rowing until I bought one and had to go through the cringe nightmare that is Craigslist of trading it for a exercise bike.
I tried rowing at a gym couple years ago and it was pretty cool
I didn't start hating it. I learned to hate it after doing it 3-4 times a week for 4 months. Novel forms of cardio always seem fun at first once you're past the honeymoon phase though you'll see it more clearly.
Cycling in place is dumb as hell
Every replacement for outdoor cardio or the sport it represents is "dumb as hell". But alas I can't make it not rain at 40 degrees some days or make the city plow or salt the sidewalks or roads in a timely manner so I have a backup that I can also use if I'm injured and doesn't up a lot of space.
You can get a used one on OfferUp for like $400 USD around me.
>OfferUp is only available in the US. If you have a proxy or VPN running, please turn it off and then hit refresh to use OfferUp.
fricking americans I swear
What's wrong with Americans?
>ugh those Americans and their consumerist garbage sicken me
>AAAAA FRICKING AMERICANS LET ME CONSUME
Tons of rowing machines from $200 to $3000 on Amazon. Take your pick.
Buy a bike
I row 10k every day in rowing season, which is the coldest 4-5 months of the year. It is a great form of cardio, and combined with weightlifting and ab workouts I feel that it is an essential component of my physical training. I listen to audio books while I row to pass the time, and I bundle up in wool to really sweat.
Overall I highly recommend rowing as a form of exercise.
Top tier cardio. Buying used is a good option since they're bulletproof. As mentioned, try one at a gym and see how you like it. Get out on the water if there's a club near you.
I got a budget rower for 120 and I don't see a big difference between it and the 1k+ one at the gym. It's fun and at home I row while watching my weekly anime episode.
I got one in the middle of covid and have turned into a sexless erg goblin. Row a 10k before work and a 10k after work, everyday. Something like 6mil meters. Joined a rowing club; they fixed my erg form.
I no longer desire women, only erg.
Concept 2 is the only rower worth buying imo, and I think rowing (machine or otherwise) is the best form of cardio (IF you like it).
Don't just go buy a fricking rowing machine before being committed to it, otherwise it was just a waste of money and space.
https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/ get through at least half of this (12 weeks) at some gym.
And for the love of god don't set the damper to the max, follow this if you have a c2 https://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/tips-and-general-info/damper-setting-101
You'll either love it or hate it. If you love it and you don't do cardio regularly be careful because you can legitimately give yourself a heart attack with one if you're moronic enough.
Holy frick I love rowing, but please for the love of god get your form down right. Your legs will love you for it.
Everyone post 2ks itt.
My club has a million meter challenge for winter training that I'm gunning for. Hoping to get my 2k down from pic to 6:40 by the end of March.
Do you know that you can try it at the gym/showroom first and then decide for yourself?
