That is the most moronic thing I've ever heard in my entire life. >how much your elbows can hold.
A back squat is also limited by how much you can hold on the back of your neck, but that doesn't stop people from squatting over 700 lbs.
Your back will always be capable of holding more than your elbows. I don't know why you zercher cultists purposely ignore that point.

Because it's a moronic argument.

Because you say so? If you squat with the purpose of strengthening and growing your legs there's zero reason to use the zercher squat in place of the back squat unless you don't have a rack. Your arms should never be the limiting factor of your squat.

They aren't a limiting factor though.

If it isn't the limiter then why can people back squat significantly more than they can zercher
How does this even make sense cmon of course they are the limiter

Because a Zercher is more like a turbo-front squat, it's extremely anterior-chain dominant.

I don't zercher because it's a dumb movement outside of strongman, much worse for developing leg strength than normal squats
205kg back squat
175kg front squat

NTA, I have similar numbers and did a 405 (185?) Zercher from the floor without training it.
It just feels pointless. It's a squat for people bad at actually squatting or gimmick YT celebrities like Bugenhagen.

Yeah I just don't get the point of it other than as a way to practice for stones if you don't have stones
I do wl so the last thing I need is a fourth squatting movement

It's not as big a difference as you'd think, conans weights are often in excess of 300kg and that's with a really thick 'handle'.
>le high bar=upright back and ass to grass >le low bar=hip hinge and depthfrauding powershitter
Frick off with this meme. You can turn a high bar into a squat morning and equally can go near enough ass to grass squatting low bar. Bar placement makes less difference than individual anatomy and how mobile you are.
It’s not a meme. Most strength training coaches and competing powerlifters recommend low bar for a reason. Most people can lift significantly more to depth with it due to a shorter range of motion. It is very comparable to sumo deadlifts in this way.
>Most strength training coaches and competing powerlifters recommend low bar for a reason
It requires less mobility and can be done with more of a hip hinge while still keeping the bar over mid foot. The main difference is with a high bar you get more forward knee travel, but if you look at a lot of big high bar squatters they're only upright in the hole. Once they're actually lifting the weight the knees come back and their hips hinge.
>and equally can go near enough ass to grass squatting low bar.
Factos. I use a narrow stance low bar form and I can go full atg, hamstrings touching calves.
My knees track forward over my toes. I've also done a decent amount of paused work and glute isolation so sitting down into the hole is very comfortable.
I guarantee your squat looks weird as all frick, narrow stance deep lowbar would require a crazy forward torso
I've taken videos of my squat and yeah I do have a lot of forward lean. I've experimented with my squat form a lot over the years and this is the form I feel most comfortable and pain free.
Can't speak to the sumo part but low bar hits different muscles and works the hamstrings/back/glutes/hip abductors more. Basically you're moving the bar with your hips, rather than by extending your knees.
High bar is more of a quad-focused leg exercise.

I switched from low bar squat to high bar after about three years of the previous. I feel more quad engagement instead of my back and hamstrings. Imo you're not training your legs with a low bar squat compared to the high bar squat.
>this is like the sumo deadlift hack
most records are done conventional, moron. my sumo is like 20% lower, tried doing it exclusively for some time, but the ratio remained
if sumo was the best all pro powerlifters would be using it since they chase numbers for a living
it depends based on your body
people like OP are just coping when they get outdeadlifted

There's a dozen other exercises to get bigger legs. Front squats will build your legs way better than a squat can. Squat is about putting weight on the bar.
Imagine doing fatshitter exercises in 2023
For me, it's the zercher. Hits quads, hamstrings, lower and upper back, and sometimes gives you a slight bicep pump
Literal moron-tier
It's literally the best squat exercise and you can't tell me why it isn't.
You'll always be limited by how much your elbows can hold.

>DUDE WHAT IF WE MADE SQUATS A BICEP EXERCISE LOL
zerchergays are completely moronic
There shouldn't be any bicep involved in a zercher
If you're doing it right there should be no axial loading of the elbow joint, you can hold stupid weights in the crook of your elbows.
>you can't tell me why it isn't.
It looks stupid --> It is stupid
ezpz
I don't like it and therefore it is the worst exercise.
The GOAT
You absolute liar. The difference between 3 and 4pl8 and now it feels on your spine is insane.

memes aside, am i screwing myself over in any way if i only do DB bulgarians instead of any kind of barbell squat?
my leg day is basically trap bar DLs, bulgarians, back extensions, and calf raises.
DB split squats are for women. At least do barbell.
why do people low bar or do sumo if they don't compete in powerlifting?
Personal satisfaction that comes with putting more weight on the bar.
might as well put on a squat suit and wraps too
Depends on how much you want to cope.
Unnecessarily wordy version of "Ego lifting."
It's not my cup of tea, but I respect it.

Yea high bar is better for that reason, it activates your quads much better.
There's a dozen other exercises to get bigger legs. Front squats will build your legs way better than a squat can. Squat is about putting weight on the bar.
You're not actually accomplishing anything by making the lift easier.
I can't squat low bar. It just feels super wonky and I lift less. I just do high bar wide stance instead.
I feel like I have a moronic mix of the two
do i have to look down like that?
