This guy claims to have been "active in the gym for over a decade" and that he has a degree in exercise physiology but has also claimed to hate working out and looks like he's never lifted anything in his life. While also shilling horrifically unhealthy caffeine drinks and promoting pseudoscience garbage like the keto diet. It's all a lot of very contradictory statements.

I mean I get it. Life gets in the way. I've got a 500 word essay due next week so I won't have time to exercise, and last week was a write off because I spent the week drafting up a diet and exercise regime. I'm so busy I have no time to cook and I'm just ordering fast food.

I actually got a vid recommended the other week about this very thing, bottom line was it's fine to miss a week or two of gym if you can find minimalist versions of it at home, instead of 90 minutes spent travelling to/from the gym and training, do some light calisthenics/stretching work at home for 30 minutes, or if you only have 20-30 minutes go for a brisk walk to at the least get some sun and movement in your day

Too much sugar and carbs that have are high on the glycemic index are hard on your liver.
Eventually you become insulin resistance and can get a fatty liver.
At this point your body has shot it's ability to process food efficiently and you become a lard ass without even trying.

He's right about fruit and sugar, though. Fructose has basically no nutritional value, it's just a trick plants use to make animals eat and spread seeds.

The only reason why fruit is "good for you" is because the fructose:pulp ratio is low, and it has lots of fluids and vitamins.

Humans evolved to eat animal fats, not a shit-ton of fructose.

The liver concerts fructose into triglycerides. It's a similar to alcohol (the substance that causes sclerosis of the liver.

      >t's an essential part of losing weight

The only essential part of losing weight is to be in calorie deficit. Keto or even worse, starving (fasting) helps with that but almost nobody can stick to the extreme diets for too long and gain the weight back.

        >starving(fasting)
        certified moronic fatty
Fasting is 100x easier than diet fads and non-fasting calorie deficits
The body stops giving hunger signals when it starts using its fat stores, and devoting more energy to other activities when its not using most of it on digestion, induces autophagia, increases HGH, lowers inflammation, improves mental cognition and health, and overall heals your body.
While your cuck eating 6 times a day will make you depressed and miserable.

                light regular meals.
fasting then eating one giga meal where you cant move afterwards is moronic.

now youre just projecting. No one eats a giga meal after fasting, its just a regular meal. The stomach literally becomes unable to eat a giga meal.
Im still waiting on your source.
Eating 6 times a day while on calorie deficit might work but its a much worse, harder and longer way to lose fat than simply fasting. Not letting your digestive system rest also makes for a miserable experience.

No, they cut their daily calorie count by fasting, lost weight and got healthier because they lost weight. That was the conclusion of your study, did you even read it or did you just google and picked the first study you found?

    >There are a growing number of recent publications on intermittent fasting (IF), generally lasting 16 to 48 hours, and calorie restriction (CR). Periodic fasting (PF), recently defined as lasting from 2 to as many as 21 or more days, is less studied in humans, especially for periods longer than 4 days [1, 2]. Results show that lifespan and healthspan are prolonged in several animal models by fasting and CR [2–7] and that parameters of age-related diseases are improved in humans [5, 8, 9]. Fasting leads to pronounced metabolic changes: The shift from carbohydrates and glucose to fatty acids and ketones as the major cellular fuel source for body and brain seems to play a key role. It has recently been referred to as intermittent metabolic switching (IMS) and glucose-to-ketone (G-to-K) switch. The reverse step–ketone-to-glucose (K-to-G) switch–happens upon refeeding [2]. The G-to-K switch includes reduction in blood glucose, insulin and IGF-1 levels, depletion or reduction of glycogen stores, and an increase in lipolysis and ketogenesis [2, 5, 10]. Fasting has been shown to induce differential cellular stress resistance [11] and autophagy [12, 13], as well as triggering the synthesis of detoxification enzymes [9, 14]. Fasting seems to modify the intestinal microbiome [9, 15]. It also leads to changes in the intestinal mucosal walls in rats [16] and to pronounced neuroendocrine adaptation processes [2, 17]. Finally, in the K-to-G switch, fasting has been found to activate stem cells and multiple system regeneration in the refeeding period [4, 18, 19] and to increase the mitochondrial biogenesis in neurons and other body cells [2, 9].

      >Significant reductions in weight, abdominal circumference and blood pressure were observed in the whole group (each p<0.001). A beneficial modulating effect of fasting on blood lipids, glucoregulation and further general health-related blood parameters was shown. In all groups, fasting led to a decrease in blood glucose levels to low norm range and to an increase in ketone bodies levels (each p<0.001), documenting the metabolic switch. An increase in physical and emotional well-being (each p<0.001) and an absence of hunger feeling in 93.2% of the subjects supported the feasibility of prolonged fasting. Among the 404 subjects with pre-existing health-complaints, 341 (84.4%) reported an improvement. Adverse effects were reported in less than 1% of the participants. The results from 1422 subjects showed for the first time that Buchinger periodic fasting lasting from 4 to 21 days is safe and well tolerated. It led to enhancement of emotional and physical well-being and improvements in relevant cardiovascular and general risk factors, as well as subjective health complaints.

I've seen a video of this guy talking about how jacked he is despite not looking like it. Hes got maybe 13 inch biceps max. He's a bit lean and obviously does some exercise, but having a visible bicep is not the same as having a big bicep and yet he talks himself up as if it's the same thing. It wouldn't be an issue if he didn't have a big ego about it but it's just so moronic. It's EASIER for you to look jacked when you're short, not harder. The fact that he's so short and still a little twink is a testament to how little his accomplishment is, but he brags about it anyway.

    Getting a 'sleeper' build physique.

So basically in gaming a 'sleeper' is a build where your character doesn't look particularly impressive but they absolutely decimate when given the opportunity.

I've been researching fitness and I'm essentially trying to 'gamify' it to maintain my interest. I always opt for sleeper builds because I'm not interested in vanity but I like to subvert expectations and dominate people who you wouldn't expect me to, so that's how I want to approach fitness.

I understand that to develop this I need to focus on strength sets (1-5 reps) rather than hypertrophy (8-12) and build the 'skill' of strength. I do not intend on cutting and have no interest in gaining weight. I have no interest in looking 'visibly' muscular because I feel like it would put me to close to these hedonistic vanity-based tiktok bodybuilders who have very different motivations. I just want to be a normal looking dude who can be crazy strong when he needs to be.

I haven't started yet as I'm still developing my strategy. I'm wondering if there are any tricks or exercises that will help me develop strength while limiting potential hypertrophy as much as possible. I'm already including deadlifts, snatches, cleans (no jerk or presses as they're very shoulder isolating) and farmers carrys for example.

Thanks in advance big guys, also checked OP

Strength as a “skill” is directly correlated to the cross section surface area of the muscle. To be stronger you must get bigger.

This process can occur outside of hypertrophy, as you correctly stated, you’ll need to focus on lifts that induce generation of new myofibrilles. This does come from a “strength” based approach focusing on intensity rather than volume. However these processes do not occur in a vacuum and you will develop both while focusing on one exclusively.

To the point, it’s not so clear cut as you describe and you should anticipate needing to gain weight to break through strength plateaus as you develop your skill set further.

As for the skill itself, focus on these items and you’ll be stellar:

      >Focus on the muscle you intend to fire
You can lift all day and not see results if you aren’t engaging muscles correctly

      >close your eyes
This will help you to focus on the muscle you intend to engage and fire through the movement

      >linear progression
Focus on adding 2.5-5lbs on every compound lift for the first 6-12 months. You need to add weight to get stronger.

        Anonymous
