What if, instead of alternating between “cuts” and “bulks” and thereby making no long-term progress, I just eat at maintenance while lifting hard and then very gradually increase my calorie intake over time until I’m happy with my appearance and strength levels?

Yea man do whatever works
>intentionally moronic idea bait
You can only gain muslce on a caloric surplus (i.e. Bulk) for all the noobs that might fall for this.
Unless you are a noob and have >5%bf then you can absolutely gain muscle even on a cut
No.
People don't understand how stupid that idea is.
Please tell me how eating 0 calories a day is going to add mass if you lift weights.
Basic thermodynamics you fricking dumbass.
But... you aren't eating 0 calories on a cut
You're right, you're eating less than 0 calories.
A cut is when you have a negative energy expenditure on your body and you lose mass, tell me how you build muscle (physiologically speaking) during this process.
what the actual frick are you even saying ESL schizo?
>eat at maintenance while lifting hard and then very gradually increase my calorie intake over time
i.e. eat 2500 calories a day, then you increase to 2600. You will be in a surplus until your TDEE increases to 2600. What part are you having trouble understanding?
That's not even what you said
tl;dr what you said
>"when you eat more you eat more you moron"
the problem is you don't gain weight on maintenance, that's why it's called maintenance. maintaining weight. meaning your TDEE wont increase. jesus christ read a book.
I think it's quite clear what "eat at maintenance while lifting hard and then very gradually increase my calorie intake over time" means. Stop replying to me now.
Oh shit, you're right. My bad I didn't realize you were a complete fricking moron and a shitty troll
And you will be in a calorie surplus every time you increase your calorie intake, you moron.
>increase my calorie intake
aka...bulking. bulking is just a stupid word to use because it makes it sound like you're stuffing your face
>what if instead of adopting the tried and true method of eating at a caloric surplus to build muscle and then shedding the excess fat with a single cut I continue to eat like a dyel and sabotage my gains until I become disillusioned with my lack of progress and start roiding or give up on lifting entirely?
Why are zoomers like this?
I've tried that for the longest time but I have come to buy into the "broscience" that you need to make weight stick and that only works if you keep the calories high for a long period of time. So yes, the concept is right, you do it over an extended period of time, and not a short bulk and cut cycle, and you gradually increase calorie intake, but you already start at a relatively high surplus.
Counting calories / tracking macros works very well, and I’d recommend you try it and do it, but I also think life is too short to worry about being so autistic about that stuff so I don’t do it anymore
You need to do it if you want the best possible results though. You may NEVER reach your bulking goals or ever reach your bodyfat % goals without tracking calories calories/macros, so keep that in mind if you don’t do it
Im ok with that, I autistically tracked for multiple years, achieved the body i wanted, and moved on from it all.
I still lift all the time and I love lifting, but I don’t care about min-maxing my diet anymore.
im not tracking shit. before i started working out i maintained my weight with zero tracking or even thought going into what i was eating, i just stopped eating when i felt full. now that i workout i just know i have to eat/drink more protein and eat a little bit more. the only reason i'd ever track calories is when i want to lose weight
Good goy
i'm gaining muscle mass on a cut. i know this because my lifts are going up while my weight is going down. i'm not fat btw, my bmi dropped from 25 to 22
You can gain strength without mass by increasing the Nuclei count in your muscles but it has a limit. Eventually you'll stall because your muscles can't get any more saturated/denser.
>don't make any gains because teetering on the edge of deficit constantly
>don't lose any fat because replacing any losses constantly
if bulking and cutting didn't work people wouldn't do it, moron.
>“cuts” and “bulks” and thereby making no long-term progress,
what if you newhomosexuals just did what is proven to work?
