Trap Bar Deadlift is actually better than any other Deadlift except perhaps the RDL, which ironically is a great accessory for Trap Bar Deadlift.
Unless you're an actual powerlifting competitor there's not really any reason to do conventional. Except for maybe if you're an insecure girlyboi who thinks IST will make fun of them.

In all honestly: this.
Ok but this chart is just straight wrong. The center of mass is more forward in a Front Squat than an Overhead squat, yet it's somehow less "knee"
Also Trap Deadlifts start like 6 inches higher off the ground so comparing it to 3 other lifts where your hip has to hinge more degrees just to begin the lift is asinine.
>Also Trap Deadlifts start like 6 inches higher off the ground
Why are dumbasses like this incapable of understanding you can choose which handles to use on a trap bar. Everyone that trains deadlift seriously will do incorporate block pulls at some point anyway, so the high handles are useful.
>a bunch of assertions

I won't even address the "RDL" nonsense, the surest sign of dyel (and midwit, and likely pussy) this side of kettlebells.
Go back to bed Ripp it's not 2003 any more. Continue being fricking salty that the Army told you to frick off.

This whole chart is stupid, also

You should never use the elevated handles on a trap bar unless you have mobility issues. Using the low handles actually puts you in more of a deficit as you have to extend your arms farther to reach the grips vs a conventional bar.
I pull sumo, I tried trap bar and it was way more knee dominant, it felt like I was basically half squatting.
So based on my subjective experience, the chart is wrong
That's your technique and body shape. You can do a TBDL with either full squat form or more akin to a deadlift. The convenient thing is that since you don't have to worry about your knees you have that flexibility.
Incorrect. It's still a hip hinge movement more in line with a Deadlift. This isn't a point for debate, it's scientifically proven. It is more knee focused than a conventional DL, but not enough to call it a squat. It also largely comes down to form.
>only back squat and front squat for legs >occasional leg curl begrudgingly thrown in >test out DL one day >205 kilos
this exercise feels like a meme to be honest
>A trap bar deadlift is closer to an actual deadlift than sumo
The thing is anyone that's ever done both movements correctly will unequivocally agree with this. The truth is that anti-trap bar morons can only be noobs with limited experience. That's the only explanation. Same with brainlet statements like saying a trap bar deadlift is the same as a squat. If you actually go lift a trap bar for >90% 1rm you'll instantly know this isn't true.
Trap bar is useless because theres no reason to deadlift if you aren't into powerlifting and trap bar is illegal in powerlifting, your only options are conventional or sumo.
You might as well say there's no reason to squat if you're not going to compete. Deadlift is a great exercise for working a shitload of muscles, the reason to not do it is because it's easy to snap your shit doing it. Good news is, the trap bar removes most of the odds of you snapping your shit in a deadlift.
Plenty of reason. Trap Bar builds practical strength unlike a straight bar. There's a reason it's part of the military phys eval and straight bar isn't.
I prefer straight bar cause the eccentric feels better and cause if you wanna pick a couch up you aren't gonna step into the middle of it, it'll be out in front of you.
but I don't give two shits what other people do as long as they fricking lift
How the frick do you do trap bar if you're like me and tall with slightly too long legs and slightly too long arms? Do I just not bend my knees at all? The bar bounces off my knees or my ass when I try to pick it up

But I like the moving handles.
>rippetoe
I can already tell you're an overweight powershitter
Can I replace Front Squats and Conventional Deadlift with just Sumo Deadlift?
Not really? There's no single exercise that hits both movements at the right amount of overload for both

Trap bar is practically a hacksquat. That's why. It's just a squat with a different bar.
Incorrect. It's still a hip hinge movement more in line with a Deadlift. This isn't a point for debate, it's scientifically proven. It is more knee focused than a conventional DL, but not enough to call it a squat. It also largely comes down to form.

See
Hehe looks like he's taking a shit
because the bar path can be anything, you get to choose your starting position and change the hip/knee dominance.
sounds like cope to me son
Squats were hurting my knees so I just do Sumo DLs since it's kinda covering all bases.

the army only uses it over straight bar because the mechanics are easier to learn and they've got to teach it to a lot of morons like (You)
>is every bit as good for muscle development
>is easier to learn
>is less likely to injure you
>is more practical
Wow it's almost like it's better?
Gotta love the practical strength of picking something up with its center of mass inside of you!
>Gotta love the practical strength of picking something up with its center of mass inside of you!

Who gives a frick about power lifting. Play a real sport like basketball or even chess.
