HIT works best for natties where strength= size pretty much. But for roided bodybuilders who dont necessarily need to get stronger to grow and can recover enough to hit the same bodypart 2-3x per week no problem, high volume makes way more sense. Obviously when mentzer was roided and competing he was training volume as thats optimal for bodybuilding. HIT is good for natties and people relatively new to the gym it will get you stronger fast

Yea most of them CAN move huge weight but they opt for lighter weight with more control or machines. Thats exactly what I just said. Very few bodybuilders are doind straight up HIT, mostly a combination of a few heavy sets then volume afterwards
High volume is just a way to cope for relatively low effort sets and reps. Low volume is all you can tolerate with high effort sets and reps.

He even admitted it himself
His entire career in the 70's was reducing volume and frequency on his AB routine. He started with twice per week with one or two sets per exercise, then reduced it 1.5 times per week on a MWF with only one set per exercise and then adjusted everything further when he started training clients. However, he took all his sets to failure, did the pre-exhaust supersets, used the exact same exercises he recommended in similar orders, did forced negatives with his brother and so on.
The claim that he never trained the way he taught is only true in that he didn't train with once per week or lower frequency, and that he didn't organize the exercises he did according to the PPL format (Heavy Duty I) or the chest/back - legs - shoulders/arms - legs format (Heavy Duty II ideal routine) which were routines developed to be ideal routines to account for what he saw with his clients. Those concerns excepted, he trained in the manner he taught.
