Plaque is the slimy film on your teeth. OPs pic is tartar buildup.

That hardly works. If you want to take care of it yourself you use a pick like this. Trouble is, the rough texture remaining on your tooth actually allows plaque to form again more rapidly. A dentist will polish it with his tools to prevent this. Still, a dental pick is a good tool to have at home even though the dental israelite tries to discourage it.

      Fruits? Vegetables?

      >Fruits?
Some fruits benefit your teeth despite the sugar, some compounds inside of them.
      >Vegetables?
Not enough carbs to feed teeth-rotting bacteria. Drink water and it's gone.

My plaque stopped once I began taking vitamin K2. Of course you also have to brush your teeth everyday and not eat a ton of garbage, especially refined carbs like sweets or sugared sodas.

You don't need to, I got compliments on my teeth while taking K2 and doing nothing more. All I did was rinse my mouth with water whenever I ate carbs.

plaque is literally bacteria, sugar and carbs only accelerate the growth you cant stop it unless you get your teeth removed.

      >got three cavities in the span of a year
Frick bros I dont even eat a lot of sugar. I drink a lot of diet soda though. I also only brush once a day.

Of course brushing helps, the issue is it doesn't clear plaque near and beneath the gum line, or between the teeth. That's why you need floss and interdental picks.

You can only remove plaque at home, tartar (calculus) has to be done by a hygienist, so the abrasiveness of your toothbrush is irrelevant

      [...]
      >diet soda
Irrelevant. At most that'll be a mild acid. Bacteria can't feed on diet soda

diet soda still contains phosphoric acid which promotes bacterial growth in the mouth, and *can* decay enamel. but that part is mostly determined by genetics.

You should brush anytime you eat food, and it can be a quick brush. The purpose of brushing, like flossing, is to dislodge pieces of food. The purpose of brushing isn't to coat your teeth with some magic paste. You can brush with water, floss, never use toothpaste and as long as you don't breath through your mouth or sleep with your mouth open you will have perfect teeth

I don't think you're actually supposed to press down super hard, it is not good for your gums. just be consistent with brushing, and fairly diligent in brushing each area of your teeth.
also just fyi -- it is best not to brush within 30-60 minutes of eating or drinking stuff, especially if it is something acidic like coffee. you will end up removing your tooth enamel, which will cause you problems over time.

Move the floss up and down against your teeth letting it pick up and remove the plaque

That's it, objectively. Teeth health is a solved issue, been for decades now. If you develop cavities as a young adult, you're unironically low IQ. It's actual a good universal measure of human worth, if you have shitty teeth, you're clearly subhuman and should never be taken seriously. I can understand kids getting them if they have shitty low IQ parents that never stressed the importance of teeth health. I can understand old fricks with no education and access to resources in their youth. But as a present day young adult, no excuse.

You floss before the FIRST brushing in the evening and you brush your teeth BEFORE breakfast

        >You floss before the FIRST brushing
Why would you floss your teeth after sleep? There's no food to be stuck between your teeth at that point. You floss before sleep to get rid of all the food you ate during the day.
        >It makes no sense to brush after eating
It does, you brush your teeth after breakfast to get rid of the gunk from eating it. It's not really enough to justify flossing at this point and it keep your teeth clean until dinner.
        >it’s objectively the best way to clean teeth that you empty out the gunk from between your teeth before you brush
Yes, which is why you floss before the second brushing.
