Recently got diagnosed and I'm going to start taking ADHD meds soon.
Which ones does IST recommend? Which should I avoid?
Did taking ADHD medication affect your gains and IST lifestyle in anyway?

It's not going to help. Stimulants can be useful if you use them properly but if you just take them everyday you're going to feel like shit
How do I use them properly?
Take them when you have something specific to do, that you already know how to do. If you study on them you will have difficulty recalling that information without taking them. Also, being stuck at work on them is pretty miserable, it can be useful if you're busy with more important things than work once in a while to help you get there on time and such but it it's shitty and should be avoided most of the time
This guy doesn't have ADHD, he takes pills for fun, you can ignore.
formally diagnosed twice
What's it like being on pills vs off pills?
I quit adderall, this is what we're talking about right, years ago so I'm quite used to being off them, but it's a drug dude, it alters your state of mind. You feel energetic and focused, positive, and more tolerant of boredom. Then when it starts to wear off you feel like shit.
I know adderall is a bit extreme, but what about non-amphetamines? Vyvanse, concerta, etc. Anyone have experience with those?
Vyvanse is an amphetamine, it's just been altered so you can't snort it which is usually a bad idea anyway lol. Concerta is what I was prescribed as a child and I particularly do not like that drug, it seems to make me act strange and also just feels bad in general. It's the same drug as ritalin just with a time release preparation.
Frick Concerta. Terrible side effects. Vyvanse for me was pretty perfect, no side effects. After I got my degree I stopped taking any ADHD meds though.
The only bad thing i notice with vyvanse is i cant eat for shit and it suppresses my emotions. Im on too high a dose rn and I feel like a robot. Theyre switching me to adderall xr
Also I dont have withdrawals or feel worse off it
that's normal, stimulants don't have a significant withdrawal the same way depressants do
im not asking about adderall dude im talking about vyvanse
it's the same for your purposes
> Then when it starts to wear off you feel like shit.
When I go off vyvanse all I get is one day of being tired and then I feel like shit as the adhd symptoms come crashing back and can't get to sleep or able to be still etc.
I'll take the 20mg pill.
Well sure, it has some cessation symptoms, increased appetite, fatigue, racing thoughts etc. It's nothing like actual withdrawal from depressants
>Doctor I want to have fun, I mean I can't focus!!!
>Shekelberg: Here you go, goy!
>When it wears off you feel like shit
Like I used to feel before I got on the drug... Just kidding because I took recreationally teehee
I was about 6 at the time of first diagnosis
Eat a ton of food early in the morning before you take them. Kills appetite so you must compensate. For me, it is cereal + eggs. Then take pill early in the morning so you can sleep at night. Take pill same time every day so you don't frick your natural rhythm too much.
theyre awesome for jerking off and playing video games
I agree with this guy. In 2022 I popped adderall and jerked off non stop playing summer time saga. Beat it in one session!
i used to play a lot of metal gear solid v, great addie game
You should do something productive while on addy. Im currently using addy to learn thermodynamics, then I will do a review of electromagnetics, then start learning about semiconductors to see if I want to get a job in that field. Currently in academia doing work in quantum mechanics for chemistry application. Never taken thermodynamics because I am trained a mathematician and I need it to understand chemistry talks. Thanks for reading blog. Don't be a degenerate. Use Addy wisely.
i stopped using it altogether because i had issues abusing it, my self control with it is very poor
Yeah I see what you mean. For a while I had that problem, I would take it and just post on IST all day very intensely. To fix this I would leave the pills at the office and only taken it until after I had started working for 5-10 minutes. The tragic thing is that once you start working and you are on the Addy it is hard to get distracted by dumb stuff because it is not as interesting as challenging work. It is simply harder to get going and start getting dopamine feedback. The dopamine feedback from learning something new or useful hits hard though.
Yea I wish I had the ability to control my use because it's a tremendously useful tool but I always end up taking 2-3 over a 24hr period with my heart racing. Very bad for my health, reeked havoc on my nervous system. Happy you managed to use it to your advantage though anon wish you the best
Why are you asking random people on the internet, 90% of them being convinced that ADD/ADHD isn't even real and that medication is for losers? Ask the medical experts that diagnose you and give you your prescription
mixing addies with weed is such a god tier combo
>mixing daddies with weed is such a god-tier combo
drugs are fun don't know what to tell you bro
if you actually have adhd the meds will seem like a miracle drug
otherwise it'll just feel like a strong dose of caffeine + a bit of elation
can adhd meds help you maintain a better lifting schedule?
the problem is that i'm glued to my phone and computer almost 24/7.
i often work out at home, and even when resting between sets, I'll start browsing IST and next thing I know 5 minutes have gone by and 30 minute workout ends up taking 1 hour because I keep getting distracted
You might have adhd but no one here is a doctor. Having a fricked concept of time passing is a component of adhd
No, they will probably make it worse if anything, especially over time. You have to do it the hard way.
lol no you dont. ignore this underageb& pseud. do whatever it takes to win
>You have to do it the hard way.
meaning?
by not being moronic and getting distracted
I didn't say anything about playing fair, I've taken a lot of adderall, stopped, and been homeless. I said it would not help him with his specific problem.
Frick you, Black person. Give me an ethnostate, remove all ~~*billionaires*~~, replace merchant ruling class with warrior-poet ruling class, etc. then we can talk about "playing fair".
I would be homeless right now if it wasn't for Addy.
>this dude thinks hed be a samurai and not a farmer in his fantasy shogunate
Nowhere does my post imply that. In order for insults to be effective, they have to be at least somewhat plausible and logical.
If you have ADD/ADHD stimulants will relax you and help you focus
It depends. Are you problems with time management caused by ADHD or bad habits? I had a mix of both and when I started taking meds they helped me with some symptoms that indirectly fricked with managing my time .Do I still waste my time on my phone/pc? Absolutely. It's all about the cause of the issue.(Keep in mind that meds don't help with "time blindness")
Wellbutrin is really subtle. Don't expect to become Limitless but I'm less tired and it's easier for me to not get distracted with stupid shit.
>the placebo effect is really subtle
ive been searching for like 10 years for somebody actually being a good case for any psychiatric meds and still haven't found any
anyone who has something good to say usually had a good "normal" life already and basically just psyopped themselves into getting diagnosed as depressed
its fricking amazing how bleak the mental health industry actually is results-wise
And thats why you’re posting here
why? because according to you if i took an SSRI i wouldn't? lmao
Mental illness is just maladaptation to modern atomized israelitepitalist søyciety. You can't really fix it unless you get a big status boost. You can cope better though.
this has been my conclusion all my life but i dont think i can cope better, i've been in and out of therapy since childhood and none of it does anything to me
I had a friend, really spergy high IQ type, like you would find here. 2nd in class academically, melancholic, not good looking so not high status. He had same worldview as me, essentially. But eventually he stopped caring about his ideals and became sort of a lolbertarian nihilist. I think this was a defense mechanism for the fact that he hated the world and didn't believe he had any power to change it. Not sure if it made him any happier though.
>status is the solution to mental illness
Truly the 0 IQ post expected from someone who can't see the irony of ranting against modern society while also being obsessed with status
It doesn't matter how unsatisfied you are with modern society, if you have enough shekels + social validation, you won't be mentally ill.
They are highly correlated though, because people more in-tune with modernity will find it easier to put more energy into work that will get them those things. This is why I find no issue with taking drugs, as long as you know the risks and downsides.
What's your proof for this? Why do some wealthy, high-status celebrities resort to suicide and substance abuse if they are unable to be mentally ill?
Who is forcing you to chase status?
>Muh celebrity with drug problems
Nice "appeal to the outlier" you did there.
>Why is status necessary
Nice "I'm a hatchling, explain something obvious in tedious detail for me to dissect"
>Nice "appeal to the outlier" you did there.
Are you going to answer the question? Is any well-off and high status individual with mental issues going to be an outlier that can't be used because it immediately disproves your stupid theory?
>Nice "I'm a hatchling, explain something obvious in tedious detail for me to dissect"
I didn't ask why status is necessary, I asked who is forcing you to chase status.
Outliers don't disprove theories, outliers will always exist when you are talking about social phenomenon.
Shoo shoo, midwit. This discussion is over.
There never was any discussion because you couldn't substantiate anything you said.
All you did was nitpick and appeal to outliers, there is nothing for me to respond to.
>you couldn't substantiate
Typically one doesn't refer to himself in the second person, it usually causes confusion.
Nitpick what? You made a stupid claim and I asked you for proof, providing an example of why what you said is obviously wrong and since you know you don't have an answer you start wiggling around like a worm instead of just owning your position. Why is it impossible to have mental illness if one has money and high status? For the well-off people that do struggle with mental issues, where is the cut off limit where they magically become an outlier? Can a well-liked boss making $400k a year at a medium sized software company not suffer from mental illness or is that too much of an outlier already?
You will never ever have any reasonable discussion about medication on IST because 99% of posters either don't believe that AD(H)D exists or that it should be medicated.
You must be moronic. How many times do I have to explain it, your argument is not valid. I could have said something like
>Women don't make good special forces commandos
and you would be like
>WELL YOIRE moronic, THERE ARE A FEW GOOD WOMEN COMMANDOS LIKE LARA CROFT YOU DODMT SUBSTANDIATE.
you're forced into (mostly in futile attempts) climbing the social ladder/seeking status in modern society, you're a moron who doesn't understand his point, people would be happier as a peasant in medieval feudalism but under techno-feudalism you have to suffer among probably the most toxic and moronic culture ever conceived unless you become some elite-elderisraelite with a trillion dollars in power.
>peasant in medieval feudalism
no, they'd probably pretty much be dead
did you even try understanding the point or are you insisting on repeating the same epic own you saw on 9gag about modern nazis getting gassed if they lived under hitler?
you're making our side look bad
That's what she said
Cope
True. My adhd really only exists in relation to the bullshit I am forced to put up with. Left to my oen devices in nature im literally fine and even better in many ways than a ‘neurotypical’
God, the time that I was unemployed for a year, living together with my family and caring for a young kitten while working out, doing personal projects, taking long daily walks and meeting my friends multiple times a week was the best time of my life.
Once I'm medicated I'll go back to the unemployed lifestyle, while making money. Side hustles are already lining up, just need the ability to actually pull through.
Bronk aid works great for me. Has anyone else any experience in trying non prescription stims? I cant get any because of the supply issue and all the fat boomer fricks are first in line to get them since id be a new patient.
Thread being bumped past death by spergument. Many such cases
I used dexamphetamine for 2 or 3 years and then quit. I think I'm much more depressed now since coming off. Probably have done irreversible damage. Not worth it, you get hooked and dependent, you get tweaky, become a junkie. Avoid.
Jokes on you, I have never been as depressed as when I was completely sober up to 25 or so.
Take l-tyrosine, and stop being a b***h, you have not done irreversible damage. I told you guys not to take it everyday lol
Meds used to help me as a kid. Stopped getting suspended in school and such, but now all they do is give me tunnel vision and brain fog. Make me tired as hell when they wear off so I no longer take them
I honestly think I should just lock myself in solitary confinement for a week to reset my dopamine receptors. Would that do anything?
