ADHD medication and?

Recently got diagnosed and I'm going to start taking ADHD meds soon.
Which ones does IST recommend? Which should I avoid?

Did taking ADHD medication affect your gains and IST lifestyle in anyway?

It's not going to help. Stimulants can be useful if you use them properly but if you just take them everyday you're going to feel like shit

How do I use them properly?

        Anonymous

Take them when you have something specific to do, that you already know how to do. If you study on them you will have difficulty recalling that information without taking them. Also, being stuck at work on them is pretty miserable, it can be useful if you're busy with more important things than work once in a while to help you get there on time and such but it it's shitty and should be avoided most of the time

What's it like being on pills vs off pills?

I quit adderall, this is what we're talking about right, years ago so I'm quite used to being off them, but it's a drug dude, it alters your state of mind. You feel energetic and focused, positive, and more tolerant of boredom. Then when it starts to wear off you feel like shit.

                Anonymous

I know adderall is a bit extreme, but what about non-amphetamines? Vyvanse, concerta, etc. Anyone have experience with those?

                Anonymous

Vyvanse is an amphetamine, it's just been altered so you can't snort it which is usually a bad idea anyway lol. Concerta is what I was prescribed as a child and I particularly do not like that drug, it seems to make me act strange and also just feels bad in general. It's the same drug as ritalin just with a time release preparation.

                Anonymous

Frick Concerta. Terrible side effects. Vyvanse for me was pretty perfect, no side effects. After I got my degree I stopped taking any ADHD meds though.

                I'll take the 20mg pill.

Eat a ton of food early in the morning before you take them. Kills appetite so you must compensate. For me, it is cereal + eggs. Then take pill early in the morning so you can sleep at night. Take pill same time every day so you don't frick your natural rhythm too much.

You should do something productive while on addy. Im currently using addy to learn thermodynamics, then I will do a review of electromagnetics, then start learning about semiconductors to see if I want to get a job in that field. Currently in academia doing work in quantum mechanics for chemistry application. Never taken thermodynamics because I am trained a mathematician and I need it to understand chemistry talks. Thanks for reading blog. Don't be a degenerate. Use Addy wisely.

Yeah I see what you mean. For a while I had that problem, I would take it and just post on IST all day very intensely. To fix this I would leave the pills at the office and only taken it until after I had started working for 5-10 minutes. The tragic thing is that once you start working and you are on the Addy it is hard to get distracted by dumb stuff because it is not as interesting as challenging work. It is simply harder to get going and start getting dopamine feedback. The dopamine feedback from learning something new or useful hits hard though.

Mental illness is just maladaptation to modern atomized israelitepitalist søyciety. You can't really fix it unless you get a big status boost. You can cope better though.

I had a friend, really spergy high IQ type, like you would find here. 2nd in class academically, melancholic, not good looking so not high status. He had same worldview as me, essentially. But eventually he stopped caring about his ideals and became sort of a lolbertarian nihilist. I think this was a defense mechanism for the fact that he hated the world and didn't believe he had any power to change it. Not sure if it made him any happier though.

          >status is the solution to mental illness

            Anonymous

It doesn't matter how unsatisfied you are with modern society, if you have enough shekels + social validation, you won't be mentally ill.

              Anonymous

They are highly correlated though, because people more in-tune with modernity will find it easier to put more energy into work that will get them those things. This is why I find no issue with taking drugs, as long as you know the risks and downsides.

              Anonymous

What's your proof for this? Why do some wealthy, high-status celebrities resort to suicide and substance abuse if they are unable to be mentally ill?

you're forced into (mostly in futile attempts) climbing the social ladder/seeking status in modern society, you're a moron who doesn't understand his point, people would be happier as a peasant in medieval feudalism but under techno-feudalism you have to suffer among probably the most toxic and moronic culture ever conceived unless you become some elite-elderisraelite with a trillion dollars in power.

Are you going to answer the question? Is any well-off and high status individual with mental issues going to be an outlier that can't be used because it immediately disproves your stupid theory?
                >Nice "I'm a hatchling, explain something obvious in tedious detail for me to dissect"
I didn't ask why status is necessary, I asked who is forcing you to chase status.

Outliers don't disprove theories, outliers will always exist when you are talking about social phenomenon.

                >you couldn't substantiate

Nitpick what? You made a stupid claim and I asked you for proof, providing an example of why what you said is obviously wrong and since you know you don't have an answer you start wiggling around like a worm instead of just owning your position. Why is it impossible to have mental illness if one has money and high status? For the well-off people that do struggle with mental issues, where is the cut off limit where they magically become an outlier? Can a well-liked boss making $400k a year at a medium sized software company not suffer from mental illness or is that too much of an outlier already?
