Obviously alcohol isn't good for you, but how much does IST drink? How much is it affecting your goals? I'm trying to cut back to just weekends (easy) and less when I do drink (less easy).

I try to limit it only to social gatherings or special occasions. I have to have a reason to drink.
This Friday actually is gonna be the first time I’ve drunk since winter break. A tv series I really like is coming out with a new season so I’m gonna get drunk and eat junk.
I don’t really have another reason to drink until next May so I look at this as a way to keep myself in line. If I didn’t drink at all I’d probably wouldn’t be able to keep up being as clean as I am, if I let some steam loose when I have a real reason then in a way I’m kinda training myself to follow good habits and not just arbitrarily break discipline.
How much do you drink when you do drink? I'm down to about two beverages each time, unless I'm in a more social setting where I might go through four or five.
About 18-24 beers
At a social gathering I’d probably average out at 5
I eat decently clean, but I find that booze is the one vice that I can't fully kick. I don't exactly want to since going completely sober would probably be super boring and a bit lame at parties/gatherings.
A good cocktail is just too good to give up.
i only drink on special occasions or very rarely, maybe once every couple of months, having 1-3 drinks
I drink a lot and lately I've been trying to cut back since I've been gaining a lot of weight now that I've moved to the city. The hardest part is just being bored while sober, not having much to do when at home, etc.
That's my problem, I get bored on weekends without much to do so I'll have a couple drinks to alleviate it
get a hobby
I've got a few hobbies besides lifting, but I find a few drinks while doing those hobbies are a nice accompaniment.
Only socially, but when I do drink it’s no limits.
The ultimate thing to avoid is never to drink out of stress or depression, you’re only digging yourself a deeper hole to climb out of when you eventually sober up.
I drink a beer after training most of the time, so 4 days a week. On weekends I'll usually drink 1-3 on one day and not drink the other. Probably 5-10 / week unless I'm going out with friends/someone hosting a party then I'll have 3-5 there.
This is close to my consumption, except I don't drink after training. 1-2 on one weekend day, 1-2 on another.
If one of those weekend days is a social gathering probably more, up to 6 or so.
I just like a nice cold beer in the shower after practice. Feels good
None. I’m sober coming up on 4 years.
You’re right, it’s bad for you, but do you understand it’s literally poison and all the systems of your body scramble to save your life from it every time you drink it?
And you thank your poor body by dumping more into it as your brain goes wacky.
Completely insane to do it.
barely, and when i do it's just a drink or two during social occasions
last time i got truly drunk was at a halloween party
>i lack the willpower to drink responsibly
fixed it
I workout instead of drinking now.
I workout constantly.
Personally I'm a great believer in balance, if I spend 9 hours a week in a gym then I can have a cheat day or get blotto if I so choose. Anyone who uses terms like liquid garden gnome, gains goblin, etc arent going to make it, because even if they do make it physically, they will always be socially stunted due to putting constraints on themselves
Honestly I don't really drink, I do smoke weed though usually before the gym helps me trance out and just enjoy the lift. It's only a problem when you are compelled to drink or start making excuses to enable that behavior, otherwise if you're happy and aesthetic, but think you drink too much who gives a shit.
>otherwise if you're happy and aesthetic, but think you drink too much who gives a shit.
What do you do when you think you drink too much, but also enjoy it too much to quit and don't see any negative health effects
>don’t see negative effects
Sounds like you’re not drinking too much.
I drink two old fashioned (pretty much exactly OPs pic) on Friday night, Friday is the one day in the entire week where I have a guaranteed day off( I don’t work 6 days a week but only Friday never gets called in)
I don’t care if it slows my gains, I don’t care if it’ll kill me when I’m 85 instead of 90. It feels good, it tastes good, I’ve earned it and it’s what I do. There’s something absolutely relaxing about drinking one on the balcony with snow all around me, almost freezing if not for the heat of alcohol.
I drink 2-3 nights a week either on my own, with a friend, or with my girlfriend. I drink to get drunk.
I've recently began "restricting" myself to 400 mL of straight vodka per night.
Strength goals have been solid the past year. Currently banging 225 on bench for 8 reps (new goal is 15 reps by july).
I have no doubt that I'd be stronger and thinner if not for the habit, but I'm a sad lonely loser and it helps me relax at night before bed.
Will try to cut back to 300 mL soon
Once a week on Friday or Tuesday if I go to taco Tuesday
Usually get vodka water limes
If I had it my way and wasn’t fit I’d definitely have 3-4 Smirnoff ice tall boys along with some take out
