I never considered myself an alcoholic, nor did anyone else (maybe my wife secretly?) ... but I drank at least one bottle of jameson whiskey a week to "relax" (always at home). I always thought alcohol was only really a risk to your liver etc in gross quantities so I thought I was pretty much safe.
Then when researching the facts on the impact of alcohol on fertility, I stumbeled upon the video of huberman on alcohol. It blew my mind how alcohol has been wrecking my brain for decades. I immediately stopped drinking cold turkey 100% and this was 8 months ago. I felt sad that I had to give up yet another thing that brought me joy, but happy that I was removing something that was harming my brain (and therefore my intelligence and probability of success and health)
I am still so angry about our society playing down or completely hiding these effects of alcohol on the brain. Even school teachers told us a little but of alcohol is beneficial. Many people are complicit.
Fricking hell, I must have lost so many brain cells. Very sad and many such cases.
This was my story.
Ape Out Shirt $21.68 |
I didnt have many braincells to begin with so im going to keep drinking
t. braintlet dumbass moronic idiot
Alcoholics be like
>I only drink a pint of hard liquor every single week without fail for the last 10 years
OP here. I'd say I consumed up to a litre of jameson whiskey a week. I have 18 bottles of whiskey left my kitchen cabinet that I havent touched again since 8 months ago after seeing the huberman video on alcohol induced alcohol brain damage
So far I am seeing no benefits but probably that is just the devil tempting me
>alcohol induced alcohol brain damage
rip homie
Beer eventually goes bad btw, I had beer in storage for a year and it was rotten when I opened it
High quality beer lasts years. The bottles have a best before date of january 2028. I just checked
I do doubt that, but if you wont drink them.
Sell them or pour them down the sink
I keep them to poison visitors brains and livers or keep on hand for the impending apocalypse where they can be used as currency
Your apocalypse scenario is moronic.
Dispose of them and remove temptation
>Your apocalypse scenario is moronic.
not at all. the end times are here. look at Lion of Judah youtube channel.
You are making up excuses, dispose of or sell your alcohol.
>currency
I'm gonna kill you and take your spoiled beer.
I am still deliberating on what to do with the 18 bottles of whiskey I have left. I somehow feel like I still want to drink them as the last hoorah
Definitely nor going to dispose of them. Keeping them there for when the end of the world is coming and use them for bartering during the apocalypse
See :
Molotov wienertails anon
Sell them and move on.
Flush down the sink
> blue chimay drinker
Mah homie, a man of culture I see
Very happy that you noticed. Indeed a quality product.
Those sugary garbage drinks are my wife's. Would never touch that poison even if you paid me.
She also stopped drinking sugar garbage drinks (never drinked alcohol) bcs she found out on social media that they may cause a plethora of health issues.
Give the sealed bottles away to friends or family who still drink. You can make some killer barbecue sauce out of Jack Daniels.
To put that into context: on average you basically drank a whole bottle of wine every day for years.and you didn't think you were an alcy lmfao
If i was truly an alcoholic i wouldnt have been able to just stop and not touch the booze in my house
If you weren't truly an alcoholic, you wouldn't be making excuses to store your alcohol
Bro nta but true alcoholism means you will fricking die if you stop drinking. Shut the frick up and go piss your pants in a different sandbox
Who told you that?
Makes zero sense. I feel you are jealous of my booze stash and my ability of not drinking it
The damage to the parenchyma of your brain isn't reversible, but you can compensate for it through plasticity if you lay off the sauce for a while. Also, chronicle alcohol abusers, which sadly you were, end up being b-vitamin deficient; check out Wernicke encephalopathy.
Your liver was probably fricked up, maybe book a fibroscan to see how bad it is (they'll do your bloodwork too). The fatty infiltration is reversible, but cirrhosis is not.
Alcohol is wild dude, it creeps up on people. People don't even realize they have a problem till they're yellow and hooked up to a Pabrinex infusion, genuinely.
Even tho i fully stopped permanently 8 months ago for brain scare reasons, your post is very depressing. Wish i never drank alcohol even once 🙁
It's not intended to be depressing, I'm sure you'll be fine. Look after yourself bro.
Yeah I know you are bringing the truth and only the truth can set us free. No one would ever start drinking alcohol if they fully grasped the consequences
Wernicke encephalopathy is usually seen in very heavy drinker, not "normal" alcoholics. I see people at the the hospital that drink 18 beers a day for years. Those are the very heavy drinker.
1 liter isn't even that bad. I can drink that in 2-3 days....
I never considered myself an alcoholic, but I drank at least one bottle of jameson whiskey a week to "relax"
You're fine, many intelligent and successful individuals were alcoholics.
It's good you stopped though
I postulate that these people would have been smarter and more sucessful without alcohol
Probably. They just had brains to spare
They were successful partly because they were drinking and socializing.
Even if you're a genius, you won't make it in the world without connections.
These tall bottles are like crack cocaine. Ones you take a sip, you are seriously going to slam the entire bottle.
The thing that made me stop drinking once a week was when i noticed wrinkles appearing in terrifying speed
the problem with heavy drinkers a lot of the time is that they don't realize just how badly it's been fricking their bodies up until they've abstained for a while
stopped reading at hue hue huebermannn, stop listening to social media grifters theyre poisoning your mind.
yes alcohol is bad for you. no its not the worst thing in the world if done in moderation. yes you are a literal child for not knowing this and having to come on here to tell the world your grand epiphany and entire life's magnum opus.
>alcohol bad
wooooow. *clap* *clap* *clap*
>no its not the worst thing in the world if done in moderation
There is no safe level of alcohol consumption, you cant and wont define moderation because you use it as a fuzzy term to escape criticism
>you cant and wont define moderation
The extremely common advice given is that a glass of wine with dinner is both perfectly fine and maybe even beneficial. Don't pretend that you've never heard something similar.
Arbitrary standards based upon cultural norms moreso than actual scientific information
You mean that a glass of wine is not magically the acccurate quantity of ethanol?
cite sources refuting those claims. *hint* you cannot expect anyone to extrapolate "moderation" from vague abstract studies either, must actually mention the measurement of moderation.
ill wait.
The only sensible thing to do is to not drink alcohol.
How come you guys never advocate for 'smoking in moderation' ?
>How come you guys never advocate for 'smoking in moderation' ?
I do. I think all drugs can be useful in moderation. The issue with something like heroin is that it's difficult to use in moderation for nearly all users. Think about it. How much water should you drink a day? Only vague notions about thirst, or an arbitrary prescription of 2liters. You know, people also die of water poisoning. I say just don't drink water.
Because atleast alcohol actually does something. In fact alcohol is quite a strong drug
>He thinks in binaries of good or bad
>Sorites style gray areas don't exist
YANGMI
Alcohol is simply bad though, nuance is near nonexistant, its poison.
Non arument
>I do. I think all drugs can be useful in moderation.
moron
>moron.
Instead of name calling, why not provide an argument? Curious how you'll call out a post as a nonargument and then immediately name call in response to another post.
>Bro why dont you also call for taking this placebo drug that equally ruins your health
I dont think you are even qualified to decide the validity of my argument brainlet. You are unironically comparing placebo to a drug stronger than benzos cocaine or weak opiates(except when binging)
Moderation
> fewer than two drinks daily on average
> Fewer than five drinks in any one session
>Can break either of the two of the above at most twice a year
There you go. Stupid idiot.
the only people who have an excuse to not know the definition of moderation are children. and you need to be 18 to post here.
>yes alcohol is bad for you. no its not the worst thing in the world if done in moderation. yes you are a literal child for not knowing this and having to come on here to tell the world your grand epiphany and entire life's magnum opus.
The whole thing is about knowing you always trade you drunken state for something that is not just money or in other words permanent damage on your body. That is the tribute. Teenagers and early 20s adults have more to exchange than a guy in his 30s or 40s. At some time you run out of health to exchange
while that's true in the sense you are controlling what you trade, you gamble trading literally everything every day. you gamble your entire existence every time you commandeer an automobile, or pass some random stranger on the street. relatively speaking its inconsequential to drink. on the other hand it is ignorant to willingly trade your life for a short escape, when you know exactly what is being traded and in what proportions.
its up to people to decide what they do with their body mind and soul, we were given free choice. whether by some deity or force we label "god" or by fate itself in our evolutionary game of chance that we just happened to get so insanely fricking lucky in.
You are pretty negative. Good for you.
Come to think of it how A.A. and all those programs are probably not radical enough when it comes to the brain
>don't consider myself an alcoholic
>I drink one bottle of whisky a week
this has to be bait
A lot of people drink a bottle of whiskey a day
>I'm not obese at 300 lbs because there are a lot of people that weight more
Anon...
I know right, no wonder he refuses to dispose of the alcohol he allegedly wont drink
>dry January
>IST is inundated with alkies POURING their heart outs
meh if it helps more people stay away from the liquid J꙳w, that's a good thing.
>tfw someone said "you have a problem if most of that day's calories came from booze"
>and "your brain needs 500 calories a day. Be THOUGHTFUL about what are you feeding it"
Huberman is a charlatan
aren't they all?
Youtubers?
Yes, health gurus, finance gurus, fitness gurus, roid gurus, they are all talking mostly out of their ass but in some cases they can still lead to a positive change in people's lives by simply raising awareness on a particular topic
Making life decisions based on the evidence supplied by one video indicates that you didn’t start off with top tier intelligence. Go back to drinking.
frick off buddy
Every dude that drinks "just a little" alcohol is always smashing a handle or two every couple of days. It makes it really hard to talk about alcohol because people with impulse control get shut down by the guys who drink "just a little" alcohol (3 bottles of vodka a week). These people dumb the whole topic down.
