Alcoholism gains

This is a rhetorical question because I'm not like this but in theory could an alcoholic be fit? I mean the kind of alcoholic that puts vodka in his coffee to function. The kind of alcoholic that starts shaking when his alcohol level drops. In theory it should be possible, right?

Biggest problem you would have is that alcoholic level consumption is going to tank your test.

biggest problem is if youre that much of an alcoholic you either have to eat like 1500 calories less than you should or you just become quite fat
if you choose the first path you wont be able to build or maintain any muscle

Calories are all you need to worry about as long as you get enough protein, just eat less to compensate.

          not how it works
your body cant use the calories from alcohol to grow muscle
if you eat less to compensate, you will either be auschwitz mode or you will be a pear shaped skinnyfat depending on how much less you eat

Because there's no protein in it. Just being in a surplus of calories won't mean you'll be putting on muscle

I drink hard liquor every night and sometimes even before work in the morning and blackout once a week
I’m the fittest I’ve ever been and I get compliments on my muscles by strangers like 3 times a week
Just cut out beer and go straight for the hard stuff

Of course they can. There are plenty of famous athletes who are raging alcoholics. Its just that once they retire they'll inevitably become a fat slob

    >I mean the kind of alcoholic that puts vodka in his coffee to function.
noone does that, if you are at point where you need booze to carry on you don't numb it's effects with coffe.
Also, it tastes really fricking vile. warming up alcohol really bings out it's bitternes.
alcohol fricks up with protons synthesis, so being fit acoholic is extremely difficult unless you fraud. In theory could be good cut if you were to be kind that downs straight booze with no chasers other than beed and doesn't drunkedely order two large pizzas. But even then, speed would do better.
But stop ideating a vice. Stick to rotting your with 4chins, don't develop unnecesary problems.

No, you are a moronic alcoholic trying to make us into enablers. If you're literally at the point of putting vodka in your fricking coffee you have a problem, bro.

My Dad was captain of the gym team at school, then started drinking at 20. Spent most of his life as a huge fatass because he never had the urge to better himself, he would just drink instead and that made him feel satisfied rather than, you know, having any sort of achievements. Died at 58 of cirrhosis of the liver.

I'm not. I watched leaving Las Vegas yesterday and wondered this. I don't like alcohol it gives me massive headaches.

I managed it for a long time but energy levels weren't as good until I quit drinking. Wasn't at the point of vodka in my coffee but I had a beer in the morning, pints at lunch and about 3 bottles of wine or 10 or 12 pints every night. Only reason I didn't gain weight is I have an active job in construction and would binge taking coke for 2 or 3 days and not eating. Up to 7 days actually where I didn't eat at all.

I have like 2 beers after a hard workout, not every time but often.

Usually sleep better then so it should balance it out.

At the level of shakes, and needing alcohol for must of your waking day, absolutely not. You need more willpower than the ability to quit + you have to put the alcohol aside to make gains, which isn't going to happen.
Can you do it if you are less severe? Yes, but it's WAY harder than when sober. I drank nearly a fifth a night for a while. I could lift and be "okay", but my gains were really goddamn slow. Once I finally quit my gains went through the roof.
Complex problems include 1) alcohol inhibits muscle synthesis, 2) alcohol fricks sleep, which is required for actual muscle rebuilding. Full-blow alcoholism is likely to see no real strength gains.
