I used to have the same problem with Aldi but, theyve gotten much better the past 3 or 4 years.
Its important to get stuff out of the plastic bags when you get home.
I think a big problem is it is easy to buy veggies in an emptier box that has already been sitting there for 3 weeks.
If you see a full box, go for it. Try to not get the very top ones.
Papaya has been the most difficult to get right and as far as i can tell, you just gotta baby it by rotating and keeping an eagle eye for peak ripeness.

Cool thanks. Is it true what chud anon says about their produce?

      See above &
The fruits can be mixed quality. They had terrific blue berries this year but, only the ones from a certain farm/label.
If you find a pack is particularly good, go back and get a bunch more before they put out a different source.
Dairy is good but the cheese has very little flavor. I like a sharp cheddar and swiss. Tastes like nothing unless you got like 3 slices going.
The greek yogurt is god-teir. Cottage cheese is too salty. I like the almond milk but can't say its better than the next.
I typically get land-o-frost lunch meat & the similar non-deli meat is not as good. More fat/calories. Thinner. Wouldn't waste my time.
Their paper towels, plastic ziplock bags and paper plates are good to go & well-priced.
The bread is good and well-priced. I get the keto bread that tastes pretty terrible but you get used to it. 35 calories and low carb so I deal with it.
Prunes & steel cut oats are cheaper here but chia seeds are expensive. You'll need to make a note on some things as there are a few here and there that will gouge you.
Sorry for so much info. The grocery and gym are the only places I go anymore.

they have onset brand whey powder in as a special buy every few months, its pretty good value for money. i also like their cooking chocolate. their dairy is fairly reliable and they generally do well on pork and chicken, but beef can be mixed in quality. their berries and fruit are good but they dont weed out the shit ones so you have to double check for little bits of mould on the ones that split open or bruised in the packets before you eat them. their baked beans taste like ass so get the heinz ones instead, but their other pickled and canned stuff is okay

Aldi is amazing, you just have to know what you are getting. The produce is generally "second-tier", meaning it will go bad faster, look uglier, etc. But that's not always a bad thing. If you are planning on using the produce soon/know how to store it, you are golden. In fact, sometimes you want produce that ripens faster; I often go to the mexican stores because they sell already-ripe avacados since most mexicans use the avacados same-day (meanwhile, you gotta play the waiting game with american store-bought avacados). I like aldi because I can get avacados and generally use them way sooner.
The "soulless" aspect == they aren't optimizing feel-good packaging so you buy it at a premium. It's cost-effective food. I don't do all my shopping at Aldi, but there is some damn good cheap shit there.

hard to say because a lot of their stuff is sourced locally. ive heard wisdom that ALDI needs to compete with other supermarkets, so staples and "high draw items" like bread, fast food, milk and chocolate will always be safe.

actually i should mention that here aldi sells fruit slightly less ripe, their pears especially are best like four days after you buy them. not a problem for me though since stuff from other supermarkets goes off faster

    Frick Aldi
    >desperately need job
    >Aldi opens up nearby, see postings that “in desperate need urgently hiring”
    >apply
    >nothing
    >week later the same store makes new postings saying the same
    >apply again
    >get email saying they don’t want me
    >every week for the next 3 months same shit even went in IRL to hand a resume to manager
    >give up on that shit
    >see posting again, from couple days ago
    >same shit, urgently sucking men off blah blah blah I’m desperate need for cum blah blah blah
    >they’ve changed the positions roles due to such desperate need, no longer just stock clerk or just cashier or other roles, it’s now one role does all because they apparently need people so bad
Gusss they didn’t need people bad enough hahaha I may go by and accidentally knock a display over during rush our lol

In America retailers aren't allowed to hire more than one white male per store.

        >all of you say it could be homosexual ass Black person tier diversity hiring
I wouldn’t be surprised. The grocery store near me (not Aldi) got one black manager like 2 years ago and now the entire store is staffed with Black folk who do not even live in this area. It’s crazy. Since that happened it’s shifted from mostly white and Latino customers to all black. It wasn’t even all white employees to begin with it was pretty well diverse, white employees running registers, black employees in deli, bakery was mixed, seafood was Asian, the stockers were mixed. Now it’s all black. Shockingly the store is getting dirtier and shittier by the day. I used to never see shit stolen joe I find opened packages in every aisle lmfao.
If it’s diversity hiring… frick it I’m a troony now and if a customer calls me sir I will be taking my paid 5 hour break for mental health.

In America retailers aren't allowed to hire more than one white male per store.

Man idfk what the issue is no one will hire me. Not retail, not security, janitor, ups/usps/Amazon (any position), hotels, groundskeeper, trades/labor

Idk what I’m doing wrong. Never had this problem before. Aldi was just the most extreme version I saw which I can at least more or less confirm are being honest in their desperate need. Other places I think are just bullshitting to never run out of applicants.

Interesting phenom in my town too anon, no shit i think they only hire women and gay minorities. Which my small town doesn’t have much of to begin with ?

        [...]
Produce is generally shit but good for meal preps if you use same day like I’ve seen said above.

They have an AWESOME selection of meats/cheeses/crackers to choose from for good snacks, their pita crackers are top notch too. Be sure to check their Aldi find section too weekly, sometimes there’s shoes, shittier gym equipment if you’re really desperate. But overall 9.5/10

Idfc bro I will larp as a homosexual I’ll even kiss the hiring manager on the cheek and flirt with him to get a job at this point if that’s what it takes.

    >The best Aldi meal you can make
    Supplies:
    >9x13, greased with butter
    >roll of alum foil
    >6 packs of fresh ravioli, about 30oz total (in the cooler near lettuce) I prefer spinach kind
    >can of plain diced tomatoes
    >can of mushroom pieces
    >jar of spaghetti sauce
    >heavy whipping cream (pint box near milk)
    >frozen meatballs - turkey or angus - buy mine in 18pack
    >shredded or shaved parm cheese
    How to make:
    >Oven at 350
    >spoon a lil sauce into 9x13 coat the bottom
    >add frozen meatballs and shake pan to coat in sauce
    >drain water from mushrooms, spoon half over meatballs
    >add all the ravioli
    >drain water from tomatoes, spread with remaining mushrooms
    >pour 7/8 of the jar of spagh sauce over the ravioli mixture, spoon it around evenly
    >add heavy whipping cream to spagh sauce jar so its 3/8 full (about 1/2 cup), then shake, should turn into a milky sauce when mixed, poor around edges of pan
    >cover with foil
    >bake 50mins covered
    then
    >remove foil, top with cheese, back in oven for 10-15 until cheese is color u like
this feeds senpai of 4 with leftovers for 2
good for about 4-5 meals if single prepper
can add any veggies u like just make sure to drain the pasta
recipe works exactly same with tortellini or frozen rav/tort as well, just less healthy and might take an extra 10mins to cook
price point is about $5 a plate

at my aldi they do pork strips already seasoned either fajita or some chinese style, they are a bit fatty but very tasty, the chicken thighs are fattier than the ones at lidl so i only buy breast in aldi, they do low fat halloumi which is good, they do yogurts which are 25g protein, generally aldi is a good place for lifters

Take and bake cheese pizza. Around $6. 2500 calories for the entire thing. Some of the best "frozen" pizza (it's not actually frozen) I've ever had.
I have a pack of cup 'ronis I use for toppings. I buy these so often that it's cheaper than getting the ones with pepperoni already on them, which are like $7.
