They are hard and don't do much for aesthetics. It is a functional lift and no one cares about that.

if all you care about is looks and longevity - they are right.

what else should i remove if all i care about is aesthetics and longevity?

        Deadlifts for sure
        Bench if you ego lift
Basically any main strong man lifts are basically a waste of time.

I do deadlifts with fairly light weight and I think it's helped my posture a bit. I used to stick my stomach out all sway back, I don't do that anymore

        >3+ years
        >advanced lifters
        pick one

I've been lifting for almost 10 years as of now and i stopped squatting after first year of training. I havent trained legs at all in 4 years and not only i didn't lost any size but they actually grew bigger.
Squats are will develop your legs in unwanted way, they are super taxing on your body and it's easy to get injured.

Deadlifts, barbell rows (the classic one) and i would add barbell bench to that list. Anything that involves lower back should be discarded. Now dyels can't even argue because their favourite Sam Sulek doesn't do this shit and has fully developed physique.
Bench with dbs and if you do any type of chest pressing do it on incline. Everyone is benching on flat because you can push more weight on flat and this is why no one has upper chest.

          >Discard lower back stuff
Even at light weights? I do deadlifts with 35 lb dumbbells and it feels ok, I don't do progressive overload on them
          >Incline bench for upper chest
Can I add this to my existing routine? E.g. if I do flat dumbbell bench 2 days a week can I add incline bench to my 3rd day?

            >I do deadlifts with 35 lb dumbbells and it feels ok
That's below zero weight for deathlift. 135 lbs is zero weight for that exercise. Also, deadlifting will make you better at deadlifting, it does nothing for your body outside fricking up your lower back and blowing out your midsection.

Just bench on incline instead of flat, it's that simple. Benching on flat won't develop your upper chest but benching on incline will develop your entire chest. You are not missing out on mid/lower chest gains. Larry wheels was always benching on flat and now he looks like he has sagging breasts instead of pecs.

I think if you have APT it will help correct that at rehabilitating weight levels.

What kind of absolute memery is this anon. There is nothing wrong with properly done deadlifts, people just use too much weight for muh one rep max.

Dont ditch deads, beta move. Makes you strong, great for traps and forearms too.

You don’t want to make your traps too big from an aesthetic point of view. Deadlifts fit in with squats as being a powershitter “strength” lift that is a meme past a certain point. Deadlifts and squats are forgone as main lifts by most bodybuilders because they are useless lifts that create huge imbalances between muscle groups if pursued too far. If you think about it, squats and deadlifts are very unnatural movements. Humans never had to squat down and pick up 400+ lb of shit for a few seconds to survive so their no reason to make your legs to look shit so you can.

Quite a few top bodybuilders did squats, Tom Platz and Ronnie Coleman for examples of guys with huge legs.

You have to focus properly on squeezing your muscles to get the most out of squats for hypertrophy. Lower weight and high reps also are a great way to finish off leg day, it's hard to even walk after a 20 set

It's not for everyone. For me, it taxes my lower back too much regardless of how I modify or change my stance. I really prefer leg press and made that substitution years ago and haven't looked back. No point in doing a lift that gives you pain that you carry into the next workout

I don't do squats because I like them. I do squat because I hate them. Being able to push through something you hate is rewarding and keeps me in the eight mindset.
