So what, I should drink x=0.5ab/330 bottles of beer before going to the gym where x = number of bottles, a = alcohol % and b = my weight?
Beer is a good bulking tool. I've started drinking heavily for about 7 months now and my belly has really grown. I probably drink about 15 powerful beers a day.
>Be sober for a few weeks >dad invites me out to get a burger >have a couple beers >go home, end up walking to the liquor store and buying a pint >later at night I go buy a couple beers to help me sleep >next day I wake up hungover and walk to the store to get a couple beers to feel better >get buzzed, walk to the liquor store and get a pint, etc
I was doing so good. my problem is I just can't stop at one or two.
Same, but I am not a consistent alcoholic. In a year, I would probably spend about 4 months going on a gargantuan binge, easily 20 beers in a day but for the remaining months, I am sober since I become temporarily repulsed by alcohol.
You can try to trick yourself with non-alcoholic beer to break the cycle. Often when in the same situation I've found that I'm just craving the refreshing taste of a cold beer.
Henlo fren, alcoholic here. 4.5 years sober. I recommend you don't do that or your life is going to become such a hell that you are either forced to quit because you are hospitalized or forced to quit because you are imprisoned.
Ex baddd drunk here. Drinking at home is when it gets way worse. You'll be waking up from your 3.5 hours of vivid nightmare sleep and waiting 3 or 4 hours until the stores open all the while you're more afraid than you've ever been and shaking like a paint mixer.
No loI.
Decided a couple weeks ago to stop drinking for the rest of 2022. Honestly feels great, not hungover 24/7, have more energy, etc. Just gotta wrangle that booze impulse that strikes about 9pm.
Just don't have any in your home and don't go to places where it is available. In a couple of weeks it will be natural to you to not want it as you find other things to do.
You will eventually, I was against alcohol consumption until I was 24 years old. It started with having a beer or two while out to dinner with friends. Then I was having a 12 pack to myself on weekends. Then it was 4-6 beer every night. Now I am back to about a 12 pack every weekend. I intermittent fast during the week to make up the calorie difference. >5'9" >160LBS >5km time = 23 minutes >17 pull-ups in a row >45 push-ups
I haven't returned to the gym yet, just been running outside and doing body weight stuff.
It wasn't peer pressure, I just wanted to pair my food with a beverage. I enjoyed it and it got a little out of control. Booze in moderation is great, but I'll never knock someone for staying sober. However, you better not put anything worse in your body while you're acting like a saint.
>be me >used to be an alcoholic >inb4 once an alky always an alky >been to rehab and to get medically detox'd so many times I need to take my shoes off to count them >joined AA >stayed sober for 2 yrs >did all the cult brainwashing stuff >eventually quit because the fellowship(aka the people), not necessarily the program of recovery, disgusts me >drink one night >only a couple of drinks then switch back to an energy drink cuz it's getting me a headache >initial buzz was the breasts tho >now I drink maybe 1 or 2 times a month and never enough to get drunk drunk
Idk what happened, but being able to drink like a gentleman now is pretty cool. Before it was a once I start I was going till I blacked out and couldn't not do it again the next day.
That's pretty cool. I've heard so many horror stories of people staying sober for years only to think they can handle it and then end up exactly where they left off, pre-recovery.
Same here, pretty much all I heard about it in the program. Kinda why my situation mainly confuses me. Oddly enough tho, since I can drink like a regular person I hardly ever want to.
Same thing happened to me, I drank heavily in my late teens and early twenties, and one month I just went on the biggest bender ever, drank so much, blacking out every night until my chest swelled up, could barely breathe but just kept drinking until I thought I was going to die. I stopped after that for about 2 years, now I have a drink or two with my friends or wife once or twice a month. 27 now, I think I just grew up, I don't find getting fricked up fun at all anymore
I did about the same thing. Drunk for years, got clean for years, started getting buzzed once or twice a month and.... It stayed that way for a disarmingly long time. Then it happens. Maybe it won't for you but be careful anon, this is its trick.
Time will tell I suppose. Buddy just hmu to go out with him, but wasn't feeling it cuz my place needs to be cleaned something fierce. Might end up back on the warpath eventually, but ain't now so I'm not gonna worry about it.
I’m almost to 14 months. That’s September 1st. I got a new job serving and I’m gonna be doing the wienertail area here and there. It’s all around me all the time now. I’m looking forward to the challenge.
I know it's anecdotal OP but I've had many friends and family do drugs, drink a lot in college, go through a DUDE WEED phase, etc. but the only ones that never stopped were the alcoholics. They're 30+ and still struggling every day to not drink, probably always will. Go smoke some weed or do some coke, you'll probably end up much better.
>drank too much >blacked out, throwing up all night >sick for a week, must have been literal alcohol poisoning >stop drinking it entirely
I have made SO many more gains in the last two months than when I drank -- even when I was drinking once or twice a week.
Be better than tbe fricking losers in the blue collar job. >t. Electrician that has learned to despise the turbo normans in the tradeagrdrms
This is the first time in my life where making friends comes easy to me, not drinking but at this new job. But they are all alcoholics with sad lives so I’m not sure what to do. I love having friends I can hang out with in bars and parks and play MTG and card games with.. but they are all soooo alcoholic. Like, miss two days of work because they’ve been at a bar the entire time alcoholic
Tbh, the only things that give me pleasure at this point is sex, alcohol, and the gym. I used to be an extremely devout Catholic, and although I still believe, I receive none of the peace and satisfaction I use to from having a healthy spiritual life and as a result--I don't.
Listen, even if you don't want to, to the sermon titled "little sin" by 19th century pastor Charles Spurgeon on yt. Maybe God put me here to tell you this anon.
I didn't think I was like I'd only drink on fridays but now I can probably finish a fifth on a friday (after working hours ofc) and get to bed on time. Apparently that a type of alcoholism that gets worse so I'm stopping too.
>be my dad >cripple for 20 years >drink an entire 1.5L of wine a day starting at 5:00 PM >just kinda sits in his recliner watching Netflix >every once in a while gets really drunk but pretty much just sits in his chair maybe talking more >proceeds to function fine the next day
he’s definitely an alcoholic and no one cares because he’s in near constant pain due to a number of health conditions
im trying to reduce my own drinking because i started drinking a lot once I turned 19 since it was so easy to get and my dad would just give me his credit card to buy him wine and whatever I want
protip: you aren't an alcoholic because you drink 4 beers every night. not even if you drank 12 beers every night. real alcoholics drink heavy ALL day. are you drinking all day? no you aren't. you couldn't handle being a real alcoholic and all the fricked up side effects that come with it. you're just a baby wanting attention.
There's nothing in the definition of alcoholism that says that only the most extreme cases are alcoholics.
That's like saying that someone who weighs 200 kg isn't obese, you have to be over 300 kg.
alcoholism means you are dependent on alcohol. going all day without drinking and then getting shitfaced at night is not being dependent on alcohol. it's "heavy drinking" and it's not healthy but it isn't alcoholism. once you start drinking in the morning and at lunch you are becoming an alcoholic.
You are definining physiological dependence. If you cant go a typical week without drinking by any sane definition psychologically dependent.
It takes less than what you might think irreparably frick up your body. Death by alcoholism is a sad fricking hell to put yourself and your loved ones through. My frens if your drinking is getting out of control don't let it become your new normal and don't let yourself sink deeper.
Is drinking a 75cl of whiskey in two days a lot? I tend to get drunk on time off work but keep it civil when working. Also in what way is alcohol a gains goblin?
>Also in what way is alcohol a gains goblin?
a) Alcohol is extremely energy dense, you get fat
b) Your body prioritizes dealing with the poison over building muscles

Haven't had a drink in a long time, because I kinda stopped liking getting shitfaced but man, this thread really makes me wanna drink a few shots and get buzzed
Heavily in the risk zone but not an actual alcoholic. But it's hard to say since you say that your habit was limited by your economy. Might have been a full blown alcoholic.
Yeah
I was at the point where I used to get cravings for alcohol right after I woke up in the morning, but since I didn't have much money I used to just take a few swigs of wine instead of liqueur, which didn't get me buzzed but kinda satisfied the craving. Didn't really get to the point of getting the shakes
>Spends every spare dime on booze >Buys cheapest booze to maximize alcohol intake >Drinks to fall asleep regularly >In the morning, drinks shots of anything except espresso >The mention of alcohol, even in a negative context, awakens his craving >Not an alcoholic

Beer is a good bulking tool. I've started drinking heavily for about 7 months now and my belly has really grown. I probably drink about 15 powerful beers a day.
Beer isn't good though. And a tool of ancient monsters.
Just stop drinking
put the bottle down? not hard

imagine allowing your own father to fail you. Have you no self respect?
>Pint
That is literally one beer (500ml). Why would you walk to the liquor store for a single pint?
Most bottles are 330mL here.
in America, a pint is usually a term for a pint of liquor, 325ml or half a fifth (750ml)
375ml* whoopsies
Alcoholics don't want to stop until the bottle is empty. Buying a pint of whiskey instead of a fifth of whiskey is basically portion control.
I feel like shit the day after and always want to nurse myself back to full health, if you don't have that innate want don't drink, stay away from it.
Used to be like that for a while, now I get intense urges to drink at night to feel normal again
Me too
But thankfully I don't have a day drinking problem like you
This is so common in Finland that there's a specific term for it.
kek, what is it?
"ur a gayet"
🙁
Finland why?
Tuurijuoppo which I think would translate to shift drunk.
God damn. I've been doing this for two weeks every three months and I want to figure out how to stop.
You can try to trick yourself with non-alcoholic beer to break the cycle. Often when in the same situation I've found that I'm just craving the refreshing taste of a cold beer.
Forza Inter Black person
Yeah I guess you have to drown all the sorrows in alcohol when you’re a Milan fan.
Henlo fren, alcoholic here. 4.5 years sober. I recommend you don't do that or your life is going to become such a hell that you are either forced to quit because you are hospitalized or forced to quit because you are imprisoned.
The key is to not go out drinking with friends or drink in public. Getting smashed at home is ideal.
That is literally how I ended up an alcoholic lmao
You tend to drink more alone, but at least you don't make a fool out of yourself and jeopardize your reputation.
idk about the other guy but i drink alone and i dont have a reputation as i have no friends. the alcohol is wrecking my gains and body though
Not really true since the invention of social media.

Going on massive alcohol binges is ok as long as you burn off the liquid calories.
I am 26 you b***h. I don't let others make decisions for me.

No shit. Drinking, especially binge drinking, kills your T
how fricked am i if i drink once a month?
Depends. Having 1 drink every night is better for you than having 30 drinks 1 night
A year ago I didn’t drink
Joined a blue collar job where the culture is to throw some back after every wageday, now I have five a night
White collar workers generally tend to go nuts on cocaine and prescription ADD medication so I guess being a heavy drinker is better.
This is the first time in my life where making friends comes easy to me, not drinking but at this new job. But they are all alcoholics with sad lives so I’m not sure what to do.
