"Mind Games" have not proven to have any benefits for the mind, except make you more efficient for the certain task, e.g. doing sodokus makes you better at solving sodokus and nothing else. However, what truly helps the mind to stay young and fit is to try out new things, like learning a new language, a new instrument, make new hobbies in general.
>Just finished Atomic Habits by James Clear which I recommend highly to any ADHDgays who struggle with daily bullshit like dishes / laundry / cleaning
It worked for like the first few weeks, and then, it just stopped for me.
I read a lot of Fantasy, some psychology, I'm probably to stupid for philosophy since I always take away a meaning different than it was intended. Had a bad date with that
>Girl mentions Kafka >Say "Are you a cage in search of a bird?" >She laughs and says ya >Ask I thought that was a negative quote >Proceed to argue for 30 min in a coffee shop that the cage is looking to trap the bird while she says the cage is looking for a soulmate >After date look up and its agreed upon her interpretation is correct
I refuse to believe Kafka had such a positive quote
>library
this is bullshit by today’s standards. a bunch of smaller libraries cater to normalgay interests and stock shitty thrillers and soap opera fiction along with moronic self-help garbage. hard to find anything that includes longer sentences than your average zoomie adhd allows for.
I work at a library. Libraries have to meet the needs of their community. Every library is going to have a bunch of schlock romances and quilting books for the blue gates grannies. Every library is also going to have tons of other books of fiction and non-fiction, movies, documentaries, audiobooks etc. Pretty mich they library has an extensive digital collection you can access once you have a card. Even if you're inept and can't find anything worth reading at your local library, they have reciprocal agreements with other libraries and can get you just about any book you can think of even if they have to order it from out of state for you.
I used to spend a lot of time at the local library and this guy who worked there asked me if I wanted to go to go watch some sort of slam poetry thing. I said no thanks, that's not really my thing. He pushed with "Are you sure? Its gonna be really fun and the topic is the Holocaust." It took every once of strength to avoid bursting out laughing and but I couldn't help cracking a smile as I reiterated that its not my thing. He seemed really upset and his nose almost slapped in the face as he turned away. But wtf, do libraries sponsor shit like Holocaust slam poetry events or is it more like some group asks the library if they can use their facility and the library doesn't care one way or the other?

Oh, but I do.
Based. My plan is to continue reading books so I can bookmog people but I going to continue working out so that if someone bookmogs me I will picrel.
Lol I've had the misfortune of attending slam poetry. Luckily not about the holocaust.
>Is it more like some group asks the library if they can use their facility and the library doesn't care one way or the other?
Basically this. The library might sponsor some stuff, but for the most part they just have big room they make available to the public.
Every policy is different, but we basically allow anyone to use the rooms as long as it's not a for profit thing. We get everything from blood banks to political shit using our rooms. I think there's Tai Chi this week.
Basically as readership declined libraries pivoted to digital stuff. With the rise of smart phones libraries have become more like community centers.

I think it's pretty ridiculous many now have sections for movies, TV shows, and video games.
If you have access to the internet you have pretty much everything. One benefit of a library are those that offer free app subscriptions to Mango Languages or LinkedInLearning.
Diminishing returns on study kick in hard at 3 hours. Diminishing returns on lifting start at less than an hour. Budget another hour for cardio. Five hours a day to do both maxed out. Twenty-four in a day. Do the math, dork. Why do you think you have to choose?
I do daily Spanish lessons
Spending a bit of time between learning C#, Java, and Python
I play video games a lot less, but would usually play puzzle games.
I read Jünger, Gracq, Hölderlin, Novalis, Nietzsche. From time to time I check out the current NYT bestselling novel only to feel unwell for a week.
Doing math or logic comes closer to working out though.
Jordan tells things that my dad and grandpa said to me when I was 12, everyone's dad
the fact that he has an audience just highlights the single mom epidemic, that must be culled at the root
I am smarter and more knowledgeable than most people I meet, and I barely read a book cover to cover in my entire life.
I read a lot of random stuff online about a lot of different topics, so I know a little about everything with a degree in science on top, and I am good at putting 2 and 2 together from said sources. That makes you infinitely smarter than the person who made this comic, which was spawned entirely out of feelings of inadequacy.
Reading shit doesn't make you smart or able to apply it and synthesize the knowledge into a broader theme. Most of academia is full of shit, by the way. Dumb hicks have more useful knowledge and skills than your average researcher in the social sciences.
Read less and use your senses more.
After the scamdemic, it was proven beyond any reasonable doubt that I am not only cognitively but also morally superior to the vast majority of the people around me. No point being humble or giving anyone the benefit of the doubt anymore. >there are people ITT right now that frame themselves as intellectual book readers that made objectively worse choices in the past 2 years than literal fricking schizos who think the world is controlled by lizards along with horoscopy moms
still lmao'ing over this
>implying I'm vaxxed
Also by your logic Black folk are cognitively and morally the superior race. Before we continue this conversation about your supposed "street smartz" I'm going to need to to post hand.
>worse choices in the past 2 years than literal fricking schizos who think the world is controlled by lizards along with horoscopy moms
Crazy how true this is. I took the poison shot because I didn't really think about it too much but I regret it. All the BS that was being spewed about how its perfectly safe and tested were just patently untrue and everybody around me was echoing the bs rhetoric like their life depended on it.
I read whatever book I'm going through in between my sets. A few pages and you're good to go again. You guys should try it, beats looking at a phone or staring at the floor in my opinion. Also keeps me reading, I feel like between gym reading and before bed reading I get through 4 average sized books a month.

chin up king, it’s an interesting interpretation of a stale quote

the fact that he has an audience just highlights the single mom epidemic, that must be culled at the root
Your dad talked to you about jungian psychology when you were 12?

Sounds like a prime example of dunning kruger.
perfect example of what I am talking about, show me more of your reddit repertoire
You even lack the self awareness to notice how cringe your wall of text post was. Sad.
I thought that too until I started reading more books.

Honestly, I will never be able mog my dad in the intelligence department even though he hasn't read any books for a long time.
Resistance training works the mind, helps clean the brain, and improves neurogenesis.
Other than that, you want to prevent Alzheimer's? Play video games, read books, SLEEP, and continue exercising.

should all be shut down for catering to vagrants and pedophile drag queens.
I work out my mind by shitposting on IST and trolling brainlets in between my heavy deadlift singles.
