1/2/3/4 Are arbitrary numbers and the easiest way to reach them is to just bloat up and become obese which is the opposite of healthy.

I feel so much better also doing cardio rather than weights only. However, weights are more fun unless I'm mountain biking.

I've been thinking about doing some more cardio for the fat gains and mental gains

    >3 years and still unable to hit 1/2/3/4

I'll never understand this. Do you idiots not understand progressive overloading? You can literally hit 1/2/3/4 in your first 6 months of lifting if you take it seriously.

I'd wager 90% of the male population could bench 225lbs for a couple reps. The issue is most don't train or even attempt the lift. Same goes for the OHP and deadlift, the only lift that takes time is the squat.

diet and weight is almost always the limiter
      they dont drink protein shakes
      they dont bulk and cut
they dont understand that more muscle requires more calories and a larger number on the scale

Heavily dependant on one's bodyweight and leverages dumbass. Some people just have shit genetics for strength and struggle to hit those numbers no matter what

Saying this as someone who can max bench around 135-140 kg with a year and two months of lifting experience. I weigh 90 kg at 172 cm but I've always been stronger than my peers, could easily push people around playing sports, have worked very physical jobs in the past etc (i'm also 25 and fully done growing)

If people like me exist surely there must also be others on the opposite end of the spectrum

They don't take it seriously they talk themselves into doing a 'hypterophy' program instead and remain forever weak and small

      Ok this is just stupid

If you are a skinny manlet and train for aesthetics 1/2/3/4 is pretty difficult.

After 2.5 years of lifting my 1rm bench is only 205lbs @150lbs bw.

I started from obese and was cutting the first two years of lifting. It's insanely hard to make gains while in a caloric deficit, it's basically like I've wasted two years of strength gains (ofc the weight loss gains are great).
Skinnygays have no idea how good they have it, being able to bulk from the getgo and linear progress for ages.

      t. o/b/s/d is 67.5/100x5/130/170 kg after 3 years. Y4h28m

Those numbers are just fine anon if you had to spend a lot of time cutting.

yep, i turn 35 in a few months.. putting on fat just to be stronger isnt worth it anymore, gets harder to cut as you age. im ok with just maintaining and being overall as fit as i can be

athletic means you squat 500x5 and bench 315x5 and don't care about aesthetics. you are not an athlete. nothing about you is athletic. you are a coping dyel.

If I were to hit 1/2/3/4 at my height I'd look like a golem so yeah go do what's best for you OP. You'd have to shave years off your life if you want to keep that strength level in your oldies. Pic related is my goal.

I did the same thing basically. I cycle to commute every day and take joy rides for fun, and then do gymnastics rings for my upper body twice a week. I look the best I have ever looked in all the years of working out. Cardio is truly king.
