Anyone else unable to gain appreciable amounts of muscle unless they're eating enough to get fat too? Basically I have to dreamer bulk, cut down, and then I can sorta kinda gain muscle like a normal person (but still end up bulky).

How much protein do you eat per day? Also, how often do you train?
I'm willing to bet that the answer to both of those questions is not enough.
That's orthogonal to the issue. When I eat enough protein to gain muscle I also gain fat.
It isn't, but I see now that your main issue is mental moronation.
>That's orthogonal to the issue.
i also kekd
Are you a preschooler
Every person who eats enough to gain muscle quickly also gains fat. It’s just a matter of how efficiently you do it.
You’re supposed to gain more muscle than fat. If you don’t, then you’re eating too much.
This mentality is what's holding you back. I bet you deadlift less than 5 plates, squat less than 4, bench less than 2, and overhead press less than your bw.
Can confirm this. This sums up 5 years of experiencing with lifting and dieting for me.
how many kgs of muscle do you think you are gaining in a month
>Basically I have to dreamer bulk, cut down, and then I can sorta kinda gain muscle like a normal person (but still end up bulky).
>anon discovers cutting and bulking cycles
dreamer bulks give you disgusting stretch marks and destroy your metabolism long term
Eating on budget is pretty hard for me since I usually have to make a meal for two others.
Wow there are a lot of people in this thread who can't answer a simple question. Dunning Kruger stench.
The answer is yes, I've had the same problem, and you probably have low test. Think female weightlifters, they're pretty much universally obese just to lift mid-level male weights. You should get tested, once you start rubbing/pinning your protein synthesis rate will skyrocket and you'll start putting on muscle like healthy men do.
maybe natty lifting isn’t for you
It just takes a long time. Bulking hard, lifting heavy, and cutting weight is faster, but not necessary. Either way, it's a long game. 5+ years to get actually big, probably longer.
this, a lot of people don't fully understand how slow the process is to develop muscle mass
>5 years of being attractive to women before a lifetime of being attractive to men
Sounds like a plan.
The fact of the matter is bulk/cut cycles work. Muscle, at least natty muscle, is stubborn and mostly sticks around even when the caloric deficit hits. But every bulk leads to diminishing returns once you're so fat your hormones start to suffer. So take two steps forward then one step back.
