Anyone ever gone on a crash diet cut and did you feel it was worth it? I'm talking 1200-1500 calories.

Yeah got sick with immune deficiency and had to have one testicle removed, seriously. I might be an extreme case, but just stick to a slight deficit and workout, its not that hard

      >but just stick to a slight deficit and workout, its not that hard
My issue is I am already quite overweight and if I stick to the "Suggested" calorie intake its going to take me well over a year to lose any substantial amount of weight.

For reference I am about 6'2 and 240lb. Decent lifts but quite high bodyfat, maybe 20%-25%.

This is why I am considering just doing a huge cut and not just -100 cals.

I lost 40 pounds in 3 months last summer doing this. 200 to 160 at 6' 0". However I was also in some form (walk/jog/run) doing 25 miles a week; this can be time-consuming but it helped so much. Also HFCS and alcohol are the devil.

          Lose much strength or muscle?

As far as I observed I did not lose any muscle mass. Which is wild because I also cut way back on meat then too. But I definitely got stronger, likely just from not being a fat pos anymore and thus had more energy and drive.

If you cut your calories too dramatically you will binge
        >no I won't
You are overweight you didnt get that way eating sensibly

i did by being depressed and drinking extreme amounts of alcohol every single day, i always ate sensibly

        >going to take me well over a year to lose any substantial amount of weight.

I went from 21st to 15st in 9 months on a 500-800 kcal deficit and daily sessions in the gym.
It is doable. The only way to keep fat off and build lean mass is to establish consistency. This includes creating the habits you want to maintain permanently. Shortcuts now will have negative effects in the long-run..

Don't do a crash diet, you will rebound when you are done.
    >but I won't
The fact that you need one says enough about your willpower.

If you are a neet. Do a waterfast for some weeks, you will loose weight and it will build willpower strong as metal. When you are done you will have a new outlook on food and the need of energy consumtion.
It will still take alot of time, but the rapid change you will see from the fasting could be a good kickstart to see that change is possible.

I'm already lifting those numbers for sets, my concern would be losing the gains if I did a waterfast.

Are you moronic? You are talking about tdee so I use the same method to calculate it based on my data.
              >Using data that comes from X isnt a crash diet
              >Whoa you actually believe the data that comes from X?

I'm 6'2 and I'm cutting on 800 Calories per day, you're not going to see dramatic weight loss at your 1800 target.

i did to escape skinnyfat, I hit 63kg at 178cm. the last 6 weeks i had zero energy or sex drive, just felt shit overall ~1200-1400kcal daily.
it was worth it just to see my muscle insertions and have abs for the first time in my life.
the rebound was quick but not demoralising.

Lost 22 pounds in two weeks eating 500-800 calories a day (and lifting 5x/week, pull-up bar at home, walking 25 mi/week, rowing when it’s rainy and I’m bored on my rowing machine)

Question is how overweight he was to start with. I was a ball of fat a few years ago and lost 50 lbs in 6 months just dieting and fasting. I got to the point where I was skinny fat and from there it became really, really hard to lose any fat. I am now eating a reasonable diet and work out every 2 days and my weight is stable, i.e. no visible fat loss, steady muscle gains. I probably need to start weighing all my food again and cut it yoghurt with nuts and raisins as a dessert.
