Anyone have any experience taking mirtazapine (Remeron)?
I've just been prescribed it and noticed a common side effect is weight gain - but that this is thought to be due to increase in appetite.
Anyone have any experience taking mirtazapine (Remeron)?

a fairly common side effect is intense bouts of anger. i got this. like ill be fine one moment and something minor would tick me off and in 3 seconds im ready to explode and kill the person in front of me. it's like roid rage on steroids (heh).
I take it before bed. Makes me sleepy, gives me the munchies like crazy. Good for bulking.
I am slightly concerned that the weight gain will be massive and uncontrollable. I'm not currently cutting but would like to soon. Have you experienced a big weight gain?
no i had to discontinue it before i killed someone. i did get fat as frick on antipsychotics tho
I take 15-30mg, trying to figure out the best dose for sleep. I look better than 90% of anons who post here.
i’ve taken it for a while now. haven’t noticed any side effects other than drowsiness, which is what i’m personally being prescribed it for. trying to get off though, don’t want to be reliant on anything other than my tren A
How long have you taken it for? And how much are you prescribed?
45mg for about two years. i don’t take the entire thing, usually a half or a third. you don’t need much for sleep. higher doses are used to treat depression, lesser doses for sedation
my dad's been taking it for years and he says its fine
Haha yeah in the good ol. Days of /del/ I tried half a pack. Didn’t do as much as Benadryl but still heard voices and had odd nod off dreams
Lower dosages make you more tired than higher ones
Being tired was not the goal
>but that this is thought to be due to increase in appetite
Its not just from the appeptite
It alters your hormones so you get fat.
If you don't need to take this medicine then don't take it.
I felt like a miserable overweight slob on it but your mileage may vary
Made me crave carbs like a motherfricker. I remember I was in work one time during that period and one of my shirt buttons shot off my chest like a torpedo because my fatass was gaining so much weight so quickly. Even ripped my pants at one stage when I bent down. Would not recommend.
I surprisingly didn't get hunger or any weight gain from it. I've only been on 7.5mg for sleep tho. the highest I went was 15 for 2-3 months, now I'm weaning off for good.
On max dose. Does make you hungry, but that side does start to diminish over time. Unfortunately it's caused by the antihistamine action, as is the sleepiness, so that starts to wane too.
Currently cutting without any issues, caloric restriction + mirtazapine + ashwaganda makes for a pretty solid sleep.
What is the max dose? 45mg?
Yeah. Psychs can push the dose higher (was offered 2x30 personally), but 45 is typically max.
What
said is partially true tho, so go minimal if it's mostly to help with insomnia. "Partially" only because there is some interplay with tolerance.
https://thelastpsychiatrist.com/2007/07/the_most_important_article_on.html to understand why
>Insane appetite
>Quick weight gain (NOT muscle)
>Unpredictable mood swings
>Dulling of brain (slow, dimwitted)
>Ridiculous amounts of sleep with horribly bizarre and real-feeling dreams - sleep not restful in the slightest
>brain zaps
My advice - don't go there.
>T - did...
Oh and veterinarians prescribe it as an appetite stimulant for animals (ref sibling vet)
I ate like shit even before taking mirtazapine so I don't think it causes you to gain any more weight
Side effects I did notice however were constant tiredness and low energy. Is that worth being able to sleep at night? I don't think so, which is why I stopped taking it eventually
I've been taking 30mg before bed for around 6 years, it is a very good sleep aid, completely wipes me out in 30 minutes. Can't remember what my appetite was like before I started taking it but I do feel very hungry a lot of the time. I've tried several SSRIs in the past and mirtazapine has helped me/had less sides than any of them.
If you take like 15 pills you get an interesting "high" but your eyesight is fricked for the next few hours
Yeah dude, avoid this shit if you can. You'll be more of a mess than where you are at. I can say this from personal experience. Prepare to swing upwards 20kg, feeling like an observer, rather than a participant and your wiener feeling like vestigial flesh.
thought this would do wonders for my bulk but it turned out all the weight i gained was fat, not only does it increase appetite but it also seems to alter where your calories go as well, not recommended
