Anyone know why my bench press max was lower than my projected one rep max?

Anyone know why my bench press max was lower than my projected one rep max? I hit a 75kg for a 3x10 a week before I maxed on my bench and I only got 90kg. All 1rm calculators said if I can hit 75kg for 10 then I can hit 100kg for 1 and so I should have been able to hit at least 100kg for 1 considering I hit 75kg for a 3x10 on the bench a week earlier yet I could only hit 90kg, which is 10kg less!!! Wtf happened?!! Why did this hapoen??!! Thats 10kg less, not 1 or 2kg but 10kg less!!!

why are you doing 3*10 in the first place if your goal is for strength training?

Because anyone with a brain knows you have to train for both strength and hypertrophy, both go hand in hand, read a book tard.

is that why you can't even hit LMAO2pl8 lol.

Rep calculators are not oracles. They're based on averages and are less accurate the farther from 1 rep you go.

I can do 72,5kg for 20x (probably more, just a warm up) but can only do 100kg for 3-4x. Dont know what kind of weird calculator you are using my man but no way in hell you are able to do 100.

Rep calculators suck. Interestingly they always are short on mine, my 1rm is always like 10 lbs more

the more reps you put in the calculator the bigger the margin of error
your 3-5 rep max would give a more accurate number

Just tested both, still about 10lbs under my maxes

might be that your nervous system isn't adapted to pushing heavier weights
I'm sure if you increase weight every workout from now on and even if you hit less reps you'll eventually build up and hit 100kg

No I mean, the calc predicts a 1 rm 10 lbs under my actual 1 rm, which is opposite of op

The point was that the calculators are off and you can't go by them they're just general ballpark

You have to train heavy singles to get a high one rep max

  9. 8 months ago

Like everyone has already said, you aren't used to training in the lower reps. Acclimate yourself to it for a few weeks and you'll feel more comfortable going "heavy"

I max out every week on a different lift, its part of my program its called the conjugate method. I'm very used to maxing out.

training 1rm is moronic just do pure hypertrophy

1rm is not moronic you are though.

Do you know what the conjugate method is or are you moronic?

1RM calculators are shit if you're using 10 rep sets in the formula. A 5RM is pretty much the upper limit for getting a realistic estimate for a 1RM.

No 10 reps is the limit, I read a study on this topic so I should be hitting at least 100kg.
