Anyone on antidepressants?

Im thinking about getting off the kratom and start taking antidepressents.
I take kratom to fill the void because im just permanently low on dopamine and detached from reality.
Anyone have luck with antidepressants? Do they have any notable side effects?

anti depressants are basically standard lowerers. Depressed people are basically people with high standards for what they want to be in life. Anti depressants put them right back in their place as a goy slave like a good boy. I have no idea about anti psychotics. Could be good.

All I know is that there is something wrong with me, and these anti-psychotics are the first thing that has ever helped. I deal with bouts of both depression and mania and have tried the usual drugs for that, but it wasn't until I described the constant anger and paranoia to my doc, like was really honest about it, that they tried these. I wish I had these years ago.

anti-psychotics are designed to cause mental illness in people who take them.
The rate of early onset dementia sky rockets in people who take anti-pyychotics

no, even people with diagnosed mental illness who go off and stay off meds are FAR less likely to develop early onset dementia.

you know, most fed research and psychiatrist think that they can "fix" people like us, that garden gnome therapy and big pharma pills can knock us down a bit, to make us "stop noticing things". Truth is that the only thing thy can do is lobotomization, which they can force upon us yet, Blackpilling on a major scale (which will be a reality sooner or later) will cause damage beyond repair in the west, and paradox is that the constant demoralization psyop that we hate is the same propaganda for NPC's and normies need not to snap too.

Pills are for normies to cope if they start to feel something is wrong, but they really only work for them. We don't have that, and that's why they are pumping in millions into picrel.

I'm saying I dont have "muh clinical depression" Im not saying "funny crime statistic made me le racist" Im saying this shit doesnt make any sense to me anymore. I live in a town built around a factory. The generations above me maybe got through high school and worked at the factory, raising a family, and owning a house and two cars, all on one income. I work in the same factory and buy $800 30 year old cars on craigslist every few years and struggle to rent a 1 bedroom apartment while on food stamps.
All the women around me are morbildy obese, have mullato children, 30+ sex partners, and expect me to provide for them and entertain their every retarded whim for nothing in return until they get bored of me in a few months and find someone else on their stupid fucking phone. I'm not an incel, I fuck these hogs then ghost them. I dont even see women as anything more than objects anymore.
I broke half the bones in my body in the winter of 2019, but the fake pandemic started so I never received any physical therapy past learning to walk again. I even lost a finger because for over a year I couldnt find a doctor to help me reset it correctly and the knuckles fused at an odd angle. I wanted to work in the medical field myself because the process of surviving a hospital stay morbidly fascinated me, and Im going to college to get a degree to work in one..... For no reason. I'm never taking the vaccine, so Im doing all the papers and studying and internships despite KNOWING I wont get a job due to politics and I'll be right back in the factory.

These are chemical castration pills and are based on the pseudoscience propagated by drug companies that a "chemical imbalance in the brain" causes depression, which, by the way, has long been disproved. I was on sertraline for a while. Didn't do anything for me because I wasn't depressed I just had ADHD and was correctly sad about failing. Once I treated the ADHD the depression went away.

My experience on sertraline was that it didn't help (obviously, because I wasn't depressed), but it did give me the shits because dopamine is important for your guts too apparently. Made me pretty fatigued as well, and super fucking irritable if I missed a dose.

Also gave me anorgasmia. I still had a libido, could still get hard, but could not orgasm. That was fucking hell, lmao. True misery.

Anyway, didn't take them very long.

The point is that you might get a benefit if you're legit depressed, but you might not actually be depressed. If there's an identifiable reason why you are sad (in my case it was my total failure to live up to my potential) then your sadness and low self-worth might be an accurate reaction, not depression. So consider that. And even if you do get a benefit, the side effects are rough.

Lastly, like all psychiatric meds, take them AS DIRECTED. Anti-depressants especially take like two months to start working. Don't be retarded about it but, in general, do what your fucking psychiatrist tells you to do. He's the one with the degree. If he's not listening to your feedback then sure, find a different psychiatrist, but in general do as you are fucking told. I've seen so many people totally fuck up taking their medication and then wondering why it doesn't work.

And don't stop cold turkey. It can be tempting but it's not fucking worth it. Tapering off doesn't take that long.

Oh yeah, as the other anon said seeing a psychologist first is good advice. Talk through your feelings to try and understand whether it's legit depression or something else before you start taking antidepressants. I never should have been put on antidepressants, I obviously had ADHD, but a GP can prescribe sertraline but not dexedrine so they gave me the pill that they had.

How helpful you find therapy depends hugely on the quality of the therapist so you have to find one that really works for you. Don't be afraid to shop around and see other people. In my experience I knew I'd found a good therapist when he started anticipating the things I was going to tell him. Like I was telling him about being an underachiever and muh feelings and he said "yeah, and none of this would matter if you were stupid, right? Because you would never have such high expectations for yourself" sort of thing and I was like "yeah, fuck. He gets it," because I often sort of wish (not really) that I could just be dumb and not have to worry about this shit.

The utility of therapy, for me, was twofold: as a sounding board for my own self-reflection, and then to provide structured behavioural interventions. A therapist can't tell you what's wrong with you because they can't read your mind, but they can help you figure it out for yourself by guiding your self-reflection. And then they often have, at least in my experience, really good ideas for simple changes you can make to do things better. The smarter and the more insight you have into yourself the less you'll get out of it, but even just being held accountable to someone has utility, in the same way that some people have personal trainers not because they need training but just because they need someone to call them out if they're cheating on their diet, or the threat of having to explain to someone why they failed.

      >Fill the void
Think about how to fill the void you stupid retard, not about finding the right antidepressant to stop the pain. Jeez.

Brain meds are a gnomish racket, lets make that clear. Around the 1980's we were doing promising research on shock therapy but the pharma garden gnome realized it wouldn't be as profitable as keeping you hooked on dangerous chemicals, then shut it down.
That being said, I got tired of failing NoFap so I started taking fluoxetine by myself. It works for that, at least. I'm quitting exactly on January 16th, because that marks 9 weeks since I started, the mean time for delta fos b to clear off your neurons is 8 weeks.
I think you're on the right path, asking on IST, but I'd suggest you doypur own research and inform yourself.

      >He's the one with the degree.

Anon, you don't know how statistics work. According to this info, antidepressants are roughly 66% better than a placebo - if we use a ratio of averages. What does this mean? Taking meds is 1.66 times more effective at curing depression than simply relying on your willpower. Not only that, but the data shows that antidepressants work for roughly 2/5 to 3/5 of people. Whoever made this graph should be hung by his testicles and beaten for publishing fake science.

          >Taking meds is 1.66 times more effective at curing depression than simply relying on your willpower.
Stop being dumb, that's not how any of this works. Population level statistics don't apply to individuals in that way.

Assume for the sake of this example that antidepressants either work for you or they don't. There's grey area there but it's a needless complication here. So, assuming that antidepressants either work for you or they don't, the chance that they will work for you is 20%. But, if you're part of that 20%, they're 100% effective because they work for you. Antidepressants are not "1.66 times more effective" than X or Y at an individual level. That's not how statistics work.

You are an individual person seeking healthcare on an individual basis. Population level statistics can give indications about what treatments we should try first because they have a high chance of working, but whether and how well a treatment works is something that the patient decides.

Where did that 20% figure come from? Your ass. That's where. You falsely assumed that both tests were done on the exact same group of people.
            >Population level statistics don't apply to individuals in that way.
Yes they do. They can give you a surface level insight into whether or not a particular treatment is effective on a general basis. For example, why take a medication that's got a very low success rate?
            >Antidepressants are not "1.66 times more effective" than X or Y at an individual level. That's not how statistics work.

It absolutely is, and you're retarded. The reason why the success rate of antidepressants is dependent on the success rate of a placebo is because we're interested in how often antidepressants make a difference, not just how many people get better while taking them. Some people who get better while taking antidepressants would have gotten better anyway, so we shouldn't count those as "successes" for antidepressants because the antidepressants didn't make a difference.

Antidepressants have really serious side effects, so we should only use them when they make a difference.

Before I give my anecdote I want to stress that you should avoid anti-depressants and other medications AT ALL COSTS and only go on them as a complete LAST RESORT. If you're very seriously considering killing yourself and you have no hope of anything else possibly helping you, then try anti-depressants. If you are not that far gone, stay off of them.
Anecdotal experience: I am currently taking bupropion (wellbutrin). It's an NDRI and not an SSRI, which from my limited medical knowledge means the potential negative side effects are alot less severe. It thus far has not caused me to gain weight, has not caused sexual dysfunction, has not caused sleeping problems, etc. It makes my depression less noticeable, I still have thoughts of suicide, but instead of that thought becoming the only thing I can think about and leading me towards a breakdown, it's just an intrusive thought that I can push aside. I don't cry, I don't get into negative thought feedback loops that lock me in place, etc. I'm also pretty robotic, I did not express my emotions well prior to taking bupropion but now I have actually had people comment that I act like a robot. I believe bupropion/wellbutrin is also used to treat some addictions, and while I was not addicted to alcohol it completely eliminated my desire to drink alcohol. I drank a few beers a week, but since taking the meds I haven't touched any alcohol at all in over 2 years.
Overall the medication has definitely improved my life, it is very likely that I would have killed myself if I hadn't started taking it, but again please anon don't get yourself on medications until you have exhausted ALL OTHER COPING MECHANISMS. These medications are not to be fucked with, more extreme ones have serious side effects and you basically can't get off of them once you start taking them. I tried to stop taking mine for about 2 months and all of my old problems came back, but even worse. Good luck anon.

I would also like to add that I began taking them at the age of 24, I am now 26. I don't know how old you are OP, but if you're ~21 then please just try to unfuck yourself and don't resort to medication IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I have many problems in my life that undoubtedly contribute to my depression, and it is entirely possible it would recede if those problems were ever fixed, but it has been so long that I've decided I will never be able to fix them and had to resort to medication. Don't be like me, fix your problems and only try meds as a last resort.

Buying into the hype of anything that popular that is a quick fix or makes you a winner, will almost always result in a loss.
    Some exceptions are
getting adequate sleep - which is why there's so much conflicting "Don't sleep so you can be more productive nonsense" that is pushed.
Nofap - quitting porn and jerking off less have positive impacts on the life of a braindead coomer, which is why there is so much coombait here and everywhere else; and why there are "studies" that say daily masturbation is healthy.

No am not on those pills or any pills really, am pretty healthy so I don't need prescriptions, in large part thanks to physical fitness

But if we are talking about "the void", the only thing that will fill "the void" is love. God is love, Jesus Christ can heal the pain in your heart.

Pray and seek His mercy. If you knock on the door, He will open. If you ask for mercy and healing, He will forgive you and grant it.

But you have to humble yourself before the Almighty, because only love will satisfy the soul.

A lot of people are depressed because they are having a hard time forgiving themselves for the sins they have committed.
Turning to The Lord Jesus and accepting him into your life allows for his forgiveness of your past sins, and as a consequence you can start to forgive yourself and heal.
The nihilism and agnosticism you are pushing is one of the biggest sources of despair.

Convoluted bullshit that isn’t even biblical. I am depressed ultimately because my dad abandoned me and then lied that he was coming to see me for Christmas. I am depressed because my mom and grandparents were fat cows who fed me goyslop. I am depressed because my mom was dedicated to sky daddy and told me my dick was evil and forbid me from having any girl friends period, reinforcing early social isolation on top of being a fat kid. I am depressed because when I was interning for Ron Luce I was falsely accused of trying to kiss a girl when dating relationships were still forbidden because Teen Mania Ministries said dedication to God was more important than forming potential dating relationships. I am depressed because because that internship my mom made me go to cost as much as college and was a grift. If anything your god is one of the leading sources of my problems.

You're depressed because you blame your problems on everyone else instead of accepting them and moving forward. You're getting caught up in the past, and resenting people who were just doing their best to try to raise you properly. Do you think you parents understood the consequences of their actions? It seems like you are assuming they had bad intentions and knew the consequences of what they were doing ahead of time; and are resentful of them for that. You also have a resentful spirit to you, which you should shake as soon as possible. Start to see some of the positives instead of only the negatives.

              >fault and responsibility don’t go hand in hand. Doesn’t matter who caused the harm it is on the individual to fix it to the best of their ability.
Doesn’t change the fact I have a permanent limp when it comes to living life. Christcuks act like prayer and church attendance mwakes it awwll bettah. Sky daddy actually wuvs you. FUCK YOU. Was raised in it. Church is a social club and God by and large doesn’t give a shit.

I took an duloxitine when I was going through a very stressful period of my life. Definitely good for cutting, I found it hard to eat. It was also hard to sleep and I clenched my jaw. My dick started having issues too.

But it helped me remember what it felt like to be happy and calmed my nerves. I went off of it because of all the side effects and also because my heart seemed stressed on it too but I think for short term it was useful.

My purple haired therapist keeps telling me to take daily anxiety meds and that there's no other cure for my anxiety problems. To be fair to her, I have had the problems for years to the point of not even being able to get a job. On the other hand, I tell her I want to try a little longer at figuring out my problems and getting my anxiety baseline down to a manageable amount without meds because being able to function solely due to chemically lobotamizing myself and never dealing with what might be causing the problem just isn't a life worth living. Idk if I should just accept that maybe I'm genetically fucked and plow forward with meds, or continue to essentially psychoanalyze myself and hope it resolves my problems (it's been working slowly but surely)

All the good meds that have potential to actually work they almost never use. SSRIs/SNRIs are poison. They'll sometimes prescribe antipsychotics of all the things before MAOIs, TCAs, mirtazapine, off-label stimulants, bupropion, ultra low-dose amisulpride

I'll provide a serious reply to go along with some other responses about other anti depressants, I was on a moderate (20mg) dose of prozac and it literally derailed my life. I was depressed before for sure, but it was very acute depression caused by my living situation. Not only did I experience the standard side effects (namely suicidal thoughts, which were extremely persistent and unabating for the time I took it, still have no idea why ANTI DEPRESSANTS cause suicide ideation), it totally destroyed my brain function to the point that I could barely write a paragraph fpr school assignments. This was at the end of HS and especially at the beginning of college I struggled because my brain functioning was poor (I had stopped taking it before college but prozac has a long half life)

also gained weight, and I'm not saying that was directly caused by the drugs, but the Prozac made me "not care" about very basic things like my health and physical appearance, things that I could still baseline deal with before with my depression.

If you're seeking out anti depressants I think you need to discuss possible causes and triggers to depression. If it seems solvable, there are other routes. If it doesn't, best of luck

Lot's of bad advice. Believe what you want. I've dealt with depression and suicidal ideation for many years. Done all the copes, had sex, gym, diet, books, but it never left me. Got much worse now that I'm mid-twenties and started experiencing anger, couldn't sleep, anxiety, greyness, etc. I wanted to die and then I'd want to hurt other people then I'd go back to fixating on death.

Started Lexa 10mg for a couple months now and short story is it has helped get myself out of my way. I take it in the morning before gym and only symptoms are yawning and I don't jerk off as much. It makes me undefeatable in bed but takes a lot of the sexual pleasure out. However, I'm more confident, and more willing to take risks, more willing to forgive myself for mistakes, and more capable of being in the moment. I have better dating prospects despite being less horny overall so it's a fair trade. No negative impact on gym and I sleep better.

    >permanently low on dopamine and detached from reality
SSRIs won't help with that and will probably make you worse. They work better for anxiety/OCD and suicidal depression, not anhedonia.

Get your T levels checked and go on TRT if need be. Optimizing test is usually the best thing a male can do for baseline dopamine and engagement with life.

Took 100mg of sertraline for a year, it was worth for what it is, but there's benefits and detriments
    >benefits
    >it blocked out my intrusive negative thoughts which with time made me less depressed/angry
    >helped regulating my sleep schedule
    >made me more social and less anxious around others, even after stop taking it
    >detriments
    >quitting it is a bitch, even more so if you quit it cold turkey like a retard (me)
    >it makes you feel tired all the time, so exercise is harder
    >it makes you inconsequential, spending hundreds on some shit you don't need feels perfectly valid, or binging on goyslop because you basically stop thinking about the consequences

Honestly it's only worth if you are in a suicidal major depressive episode, otherwise lifting or joining the church is better for you.

Psych drugs generally make you dumb, fat, unaware, and numb (sometimes psychotic as well). My parents forced me to take various anti-depressants and anti-psychotics for most of my childhood. When I turned 18 and was able to get off of them it genuinely felt like I had awoken from a fugue state; my thoughts became clear, I quickly lost weight, I could feel a range of emotions which I had never known, generally I felt more alive.

I think that they still affected my ability to feel positive emotions, everything still feels pretty flat and I struggle with motivation.

Please don't fall to the trappings of the pharmagarden gnome.

They initially gave me Abilify because I was depressed. It made me hallucinate which they used as an excuse to get me on various stronger antipsychotics, all of which caused horrendous side effects. I basically turned into an obese, paranoid zombie (complete with shuffling movement). My face is still partially frozen from Halodol. Interestingly, within about 6 months of discontinuing all medication, I was able to turn myself into a mentally and physically fit, more or less functioning person.

Psych doctors don't have your best interests in mind, they want to create a lifetime customer. Those meds are really evil and often quite difficult to quit once you're started.
