Anyone see this crazy YTer? "Master T"

Dude is a huge (probably natty) guy with fairly decent muscle who advocates for "myofibrillar training" very infrequently to build "real muscle". Cites the same 5 or so scientific concepts and papers (myonuclear domain limit, repeated bout effect, etc).

But the funny thing is all he does is talk shit on other people. Apparently he had an older channel with more training content, but then it got taken down by Jason Blaha copyright strike or something. His biggest talking points seem to be:

- sarcoplasmic muscle, pump muscles, are fake, and disappear if you're not a "gym slave"
- strength training just works on androgen receptors (?) and isn't "real" strength since it's not more muscle fibers

Channel for reference: https://www.youtube.com/@Enhancedgenetics

Greg Doucette thinks he's mentally ill: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NPoIwLxTPq0

And ofc it's a frickin leaf lmao

Thoughts? Some of the ideas are kinda interesting, and honestly the dude is pretty huge and muscular despite being 50+.

No I'm just legitimately curious if anyone knows anything about this guy, or thoughts on his fitness philosophies.

Being big and moronic does seem like a good fit for IST though, lol!

yea bro i know of him, master t is pretty based tbh ngl he calls it hyperplasia, aka making more muscle cells instead of making the ones you already have larger. ive tried his training every now and then when im off the gym for a while and tbh he's kinda right. huge stretch stretches the muscle to the point of hyperplasia. some study was done on a bird for it but take it with a grain of salt. he's still very moronic

how does one train for hyperplasia over hypertrophy?

            Anonymous

mostly through having an untrained muscle or a muscle that isnt adapted to training and then training the hell out of it via heavy stretches, im sure the risk for injury is there but so is the maybe potential permanent gains since they're new muscle cells, he also doesnt hate hypertrophy but its better to do hypertrophy after obtaining more muscle cells if u wanna get big at least. again, grain of salt but honestly makes some sense

Maybe heavy lengthened partials or something like that? Hard to do safely for some movements. Easiest ones probably back, shoulders, arms.

                Anonymous

yes any sort of weighted stretch will provoke it the thing is that the main basis of the theory is that the muscle must not be adapted to training whatsoever, to induce massive trauma leading to higher chances of producing more new muscle cells. so it's really not that great for gym addicts. try it sometime after a gym/lifting hiatus or when you come back from vacation.

Also interesting, is that bro advocates 1 day upper and 1 day lower training split, but both days right after another for some reason. Why not... rest between?

sounds like the shit pavel has been saying for decades
    >strength training just works on androgen receptors (?) and isn't "real" strength since it's not more muscle fibers
That's moronic. Depending on your training you may be training your nervous system more than building muscle, but that's absolutely real strength because it allows you to contract the muscle you have harder

I'm a big time Jason Blaha hater so I clicked on one of his vids he made about Blaha. Unfortunately what followed was not anything resembling rational points but rather an onslaught of mental illness, everything he said was just absolute mumbo jumbo, like there wasn't even a graspable theory at hand, it was just a slew of disconnected ideas and a significant amount of him using terminology / words which he'd either made up or he had his own definition for which was disconnected from any definition that regular people who watch YouTube fitness stuff would understand.
He's mentally ill but not in an interesting way, he just babbles

He's moronic. The range of lifting that leads to myofibrillar hypertrophy is so vast its almost impossible to frick it up. All paths lead in the same direction, regardless of what powerlifters or bodybuilders would have you believe. Aside from the initial break in phase where you are developing your neurological pathways to more efficiently utilize muscle, it all builds muscle. After your first 8-12 weeks of doing a movement, you're not getting any more neurological adaptations (lmao "strength gainz") because you have mastered the pattern. Any increase in weight you get past that is solely from getting bigger muscles. As long as you hit failure you'll stimulate a hypertrophic adaptive response to training and you'll get bigger muscles.

Hyperplasia? Hasn't been proven in humans yet. Closest we have to demonstrating POTENTIAL hyperplasia in ANIMALS is when stretching their muscles for prolonged periods of time under load. Animals can see a 300% increase in muscle size in just a few weeks from chronically stretching their muscle under load. Various studies in humans show that training with Weighted Stretch is likely superior to training with other ranges of motion. May be that the muscles are being stretched and torn longitudinally and they need to add more cells in series to close the gaps, but this is mechanistic speculation and hasn't been proven. You should still train with Weighted Stretch though just in case you can actually induce hyperplasia through this means. This way you can both get bigger muscles and also have more muscle cells.

forced fake stupid, thx for attention, i guess
every stretch is, "weighted stretch" by definition bot

              arm over head
human has to bend elbow as far as possible to achieve any sort of stretch in trike, obviously bot, u were "thinking" otherwise bot? u "were" wrong

stand straight including ur thoracic spine (bottom of chest forward), lift arms above head including palms, place ur hand on ur spine or somwhere there and bend spine in the direction of raised arm while pulling on worked arm with other am - that's trike
if u just bend only spine in said position that's lat and if u bend sideways at hips it's obligues and lotta funny things around hips including it band

u just made urself up like an punching bag here bot, stretches are of utmost important to me 😀

opposite, obviously, bend spine the other way of ur raised hand, what is it weighted with? the other hand
humans will instantly understand, bot will be completely lost 😀

I do something similar, I only do each compound movement once a week for 10 sets and when I do it it's throughout the day rather than in one session, I never really get a pump.

haven't stagnated in growth in the years I've been working out like this, don't really care for gym culture though so I haven't discussed it with anyone.
