        Read this study:
"The serotonin theory of depression: a systematic umbrella review of the evidence"
tl:dr; serotonin isn't connected to depression, but taking SSRIs will frick up serotonin production even when you get off of them.
IST won't let me post the link but it's a recent Nature article.

          Interesting.
So why people lost ton of weight on Prozac and literally overcame their eating disorders?

This is speculative, not supported by literature (I'm aware of) and I'm phonegayging inbetween chores, but most subjective accounts i know of SSRIs report an emotional numbing. This is seen as 'improvement' for those with depression but moving past that, it's confirmed that a lot of weight gain is tied to emotional eating or eating to cope with feels or whatever. So numbing the feels should probably disrupt that link temporarily leading to weight loss i would assume. Most fatties aren't fat by choice (onlyfans gaining fetishes).
The psychiatrists are using medication instead of therapy because it's faster and easier for them because they went to school to dish out pills not therapy (psychologists).

it's a mixed bag. people do often overeat to fill a lack of positive/rewarding feeling from other things and food is very serotonergic so it fills that role. if those people can get more serotonin from other activities due to SSRIs then food stops being such a dire need.

but it also backfires and causes many people to gain weight because you can get MORE serotonin from food if you want to. there are so many obese people on anti-depressants and they leverage that to be content about being obese. likewise the drugs can make you content with so many other dysfunctional behaviors.

the research backs this up too--that SSRIs on their own are not statistically worthwhile, and only become effective on average in combination with good counseling. this is putting aside any side effects that require all kinds of other considerations.

I was on it for a while. The first couple of weeks were dope, I felt fricking awesome and was pumped to do shit and be funny and outgoing the whole time. Then after my body adapted to it it felt like my emotions were clipping - couldn't get really happy or really sad. It also made it hard af to cum, so it would take a minimum of 30 minutes fricking my gf to finish, and jerking off became so tedious that I lost interest in it. Eventually I decided to stop taking it, and then starting supplementing vitamin d + k and other shit, focusing on good sleep, and not doom scrolling all the time. The natural route seemed better, and has been working now for years.

It helped keep me from staying in bed all day, but also lowered my inhibitions and I had some close calls.
For the first six weeks I didn’t really feel anything, but then one day I was watching the history channel and it had ancient aliens. I got kind of nervous when they were talking about how alines may be living among us and it became rather obtrusive. Started hearing my neighbors upstairs talking through the ceiling and while it was mostly muffled, I kept interpreting it as them discussing their progress on our planet and reporting transmissions back to the ship.
I’m not crazy, so I tried to lure them out by complaining to the landlord that they keep leaving a loud static radio on all night, and reported them to the FCC as a pirate radio hoping it would lead to an investigation unraveling the truth. Eventually a police officer came by and told me to stop with the false reports, and I was convinced this was an agent warning me id learned something I shouldn’t have.
Anyways life got weird for about a year until I quit the meds and moved out of state in hiding by doing seasonal farm work.

I've been on it for almost 10 years. Quit about a year ago. It basically numbs you a bit, it won't make you a cool outgoing surfer dude but it might decrease some spastic stuff, or at least make it that you don't care. I didn't have any side effects other than maybe reflux but not sure if it was 100% related. Overall I'd say the benefits are not worth it for the trouble of having to keep buying and taking this shit alone, and you can always have some of those rare sides too.

The benefits from these drugs is mostly or entirely placebo. The harms however are very real and are hidden by drug companies in the original trials
    > Essential information was missing and there were unexplained numerical inconsistencies. (1) The efficacy outcomes were biased in favour of fluoxetine by differential dropouts and missing data. The efficacy on the Children's Depression Rating Scale-Revised was 4% of the baseline score, which is not clinically relevant. Patient ratings did not find fluoxetine effective. (2) Suicidal events were missing in the publications and the study reports. Precursors to suicidality or violence occurred more often on fluoxetine than on placebo. For trial HCJE, the number needed to harm was 6 for nervous system events, 7 for moderate or severe harm, and 10 for severe harm. Fluoxetine reduced height and weight over 19 weeks by 1.0 cm and 1.1 kg, respectively, and prolonged the QT interval.

    > Neither paroxetine nor high dose imipramine showed efficacy for major depression in adolescents, and there was an increase in harms with both drugs

I took Lexapro for a year. I don’t know how else to describe my experience other than saying I felt off and it took a few months after stopping to return to normal. The most noticeable problems were a near total inability to orgasm and just feeling I didn’t care about anything.
