That brand is expensive, i prefer wildlings.
That said they're not a meme. Elevated soles cause back problems due to slight posture change. There's also stuff about nueral feedback from foot stimulation but you're probably too much of a brainlet to need to worry about that.
Minimalist shoes have existed forever, they just weren’t always called minimalist shoes.
I can’t wait for them to become more popular so they drop down in price.
Tbh I have a pair of these (paid 100, still cheaper than any pair of quality running shoe) and they’ve been worth every penny. Super durable, comfy, quality stitching, quality materials. You get what you pay for.
I wear $600 work boots. I agree in paying for quality material/workmanship. But all of these shoes use cheap materials and construction, which is easier to do since there's nothing to them. They're not very stressed since they're as minimalistic as possible. The price should be lower than even average sneakers for any real value proposition.
I have a pair of Lems and they're still like new even after multiple years of use. Sure, not all barefoot shoes are high quality even when they are expensive, but that's the case even with "normal" shoes. Buy quality materials and workmanship and they'll last. Buy something sold only with a brand and you'll get rebranded chinkshit.
That brand is expensive, i prefer wildlings.
That said they're not a meme. Elevated soles cause back problems due to slight posture change. There's also stuff about nueral feedback from foot stimulation but you're probably too much of a brainlet to need to worry about that.
Yeah they have a gay shoe but just don't get that one.
The reason i recommended it is because they're one of the only ones who have a non plastic shoe option. All canvas (and then the rubber sole ofc) so you can avoid socks if desired without the plastic mesh leeching into you.
>cause back problems due to slight posture change. There's also stuff about nueral feedback from foot stimulation
I have minor cerebral palsy from a scar on my brain and it's completely fricked up my right foot since I can't use my calf muscle and about half the muscles in my right foot.
I need any and all information you have on that "neural feedback from foot stimulation" that you have.
Look up 'proprioception', much touted by bf shoe makers in the sense that having much thinner soles throughout the length of the shoe with minimal to no support or padding allows much more feedback from the nerve endings found in the soles of the feet than one gets wearing fluffy cloud shoes. Literal grounding I guess., connecting you more to the earth.
I have feet, calves, knees, etc. that hate running, maybe because I've lived the life of a lazy fatass. Barefoot running shoes were still awful on concrete, but were godly on grass. Very comfortable, feet got good traction, and you don't have to worry about bugs, sticks, needles... well I guess they don't help much against needles but you get the idea. >find grassy hill >sprint up >walk down >repeat to failure
Never tried them on dirt.
Been wearing them for a few weeks now, so can't speak as to knees, but if you do go for a pair (and I'd recommend it personally) don't expect an easy switch over.
I have long legs and always had a huge stride, but that's now completely impossible so having to basically learn how to walk again is a big adjustment, and still pretty awkward.
They do make going for a long walk a lot more interesting though, but it's important to make sure you match the shoe (i.e. the sole) to the terrain.
I do run a lot but have some nike flyknits which have a lot of cushion. I mainly run on concrete though so I figured it would just completely frick my knees if I tried running in barefoot shoes. Walking in them sounds more appealing
Not a runner myself (yet - working up to it), but you would definitely want to get a feel for these walking first.
If you naturally footstrike towards the front then by most accounts barefoot shoes are superb to run in, if you're a heelstriker they'll be a nightmare and you won't be able to do it.
Many report ignoring the 'slow and steady' advice in starting off with these and go for long runs straight off as they feel so natural, and invariably end up with majorly mogged calves (source: hours of yt).
>having to basically learn how to walk again is a big adjustment
Yeah this was pretty fascinating to me. I wouldn't say I had to completely relearn, but one thing I noticed is how hard I tended to step. Like I was essentially stomping around all the time and never realized it, because of cushioned soles.
Also you can still take longer strides if you keep your foot on the ground longer before you pick it up to take your next step. This does require your calves not to be stiff and some able mobility though. Was also part of the adjustment period for me
They are great, I've tried the vivos in a shop and they felt quality and looked good but didn't quite fit me well. And the price is very high for what they are. I'd say wait for sales or look at brands like Whitin, which is the brand I took a chance on online and luckily they fit my feet pretty well. The only issue now is that I was already a manlet with an inch and a half of lift from shoes and now i'm even shorter than before. Won't be wearing them on dates that's for sure.
Lmao >barefoot shoes seriously homie like you can’t just go barefoot and not wear shoes hahahaha? You will pay $160 for some think plastic resin to wear around your feet really. Just don’t wear shoes bro
why would you destroy your knees lmao i fricking lift barefoot in my living room. bro nobody's knees ever made it past 20 years old because they weren't wearing adidas hahahah you are so fricking dumb for real
I wear spikes on track (so very little lift / cushioning - that's in the track) and some low profile ,now slightly vintage, Innov8s on mud / trail. That's all fine as long as the artificial surface isnt too hard or the trail too dry.
I used to wear low profile racing flats for road comp and my legs would be sore as frick afterwards. No chance I would do regular training on concrete or asphalt in barefoots.
I like the concept of barefoot shoes but it's my conjecture that they don't provide enough cushion for modern artificial surfaces we spend most of our time standing and walking on. Walking and standing on dirt and grass may not require much cushion but walking on pavement?... That's my reservation about them. Probably bad for joints but good for your feet. I've just been wearing sneakers with as wide of a toe box as i can find.
I have a pair of Vibram v-treks which have a considerably thicker sole than most bf shoes and they are as comfy as hell on any surface. Still can't heel strike in them though, so being forced to mid/front strike means all the impact is absorbed by the calves (which is their purpose after all) and nothing goes into the knees.
That's the theory, anyway.
They are super thin so they aren't durable at all and you should never buy an expensive pair. expect them to fall apart but they're nice while they last.
You step differently in them, so the thin soles last quite a while. I've found the uppers fall apart MUCH faster than the soles due to additional foot bending stressing the fabrics more.
OP: People who like them rave about 'em, people who don't only complain... not much middleground. Try them yourself.
"barefoot shoes". . . sounds great, definitely going to buy some of those next time I'm at the shops buying some dry water and fat-free lard to put inside my heated refrigerator for the next time I need to cook on my cold stove...
Literally everyone who talks shit about barefoot shoes has never even worn them, or bought a pair and never learned to walk correctly without their goyslop thick padded shoes. Just keep in mind that these are the same people espousing fitness “knowledge” in other threads.
everyone who talks shit about barefoot shoes has never even worn them
I gave clinics for Merrell back when minimalist shoes were first becoming popular. I do a significant amount of mileage in racing flats. I was doing barefoot strides for years before minimalism became marketable. Just do that. Strides gives you 99% of the benefit of minimalist shoes with 0% of the cost. Then just wear regular trainers for your actual training.
I used to have horrible knee and hip problems when running in standard shoes. When I started using barefoot shoes 14 years ago the pain disappeared immediately.
Vivo haver here. My heels hurt after a long time of walking on concrete or coarsr gravel, but other than that they are fine. It's uncomfortable to wear normal shoes now. Overpriced now that they have more competition.
No that's a thing that happens when you're getting started with zero-drop first. Your Achilles tendon isn't up to the task until it goes through the motions a few times.
Fair enough when you're getting started, but I'm assuming after wearing them long enough to not be able to go back to regular shoes then it's long enough to adapt and therefore a skill issue, especially if it only happens on hard ground
>Achilles tendon
Yeah, that's definitely a thing - tried a little bit of running out of interest when walking in these and that was an instant "nope" right there. Will adjust for a few more weeks before attempting that again.
I once had two weeks of achilles tendon aches when I went to a coastal town and walked ~5km/day in flip flops to everywhere. It's not been an issue afterwards and I use clown-tier cushioned otherwise. I suppose something atrophies if you don't use the entire range of motion atleast a bit.
I have low arches, and I find my barefoot shoes to be very comfortable, almost as much as my old Hokas. But I do not run and will not run.
You more have to have ask what you want from them. I want to strengthen foot muscles, and it seems like a good way.
minimalist shoes are not a meme
BUT lot of barefoot/minimalist brands are overpriced by 4 or more times so they are a complete meme.
buy minimalist design but off brand.
>won't you just destroy your knees?
No. The point of landing on your mid/forefoot is to use your calf muscle to cushion the landing. You put more stress on your knees by heel-striking.
OP I got those one in your post as my first barefoot shoes and I hate wearing anything else now, they're great. I'm flat footed and feel a lot more stable on my feet now, only had them about 6 months
>won't you just destroy your knees?
No because they force you to forefoot strike instead of heelstriking as nature intended before the shoeisraelite came along with his toe prisons with padded heels.
Do you think everyone in human history just had exploding knees before the modern shoe was invented? Why do you think everyone has knee problems now despite wearing what you think is the solution?
So I was wanting to try barefoot shoes for years but hated the idea of buying shoes online. Especially for such a hefty price. Then some anon shilled amazon-backed chink brand Within, and I decided to try, cause frick it, it's only $40.
They look pretty goofy and the sole is harder than I expected, but holy heck what a freedom to my wide feet is to wear these bad boys. I've been having huge issues with narrow shoes my whole life, but this is truly a revelation.
Now I'm less hesitant to spend more on a premium brand, but only if the shoes are going to look presentable, so I could wear them on most occasions, not only when I'm by myself
I’m seeing a suspicious amount of shilling for that brand, and coincidentally at the same time that I started getting blasted by Amazon to buy them. Reviews show poor quality, heavy degradation over short periods of time. Hard pass. Been wearing my vivos almost daily for months and they look brand new still
Yeah man, if you already have proper barefoot shoes, you can definitely skip any chink crap. Can't say much for their reliability, as I just started wearing them, but if they survive for at least one season, it's a decent gateway into the world of barefoot shoes for me personally.
I’m seeing a suspicious amount of shilling for that brand, and coincidentally at the same time that I started getting blasted by Amazon to buy them. Reviews show poor quality, heavy degradation over short periods of time. Hard pass. Been wearing my vivos almost daily for months and they look brand new still
I got the same ones, they were like $40. 4 months later and they still hold up just fine. Yea they're cheap and there's nothing much to them, but I honestly don't know what more you could expect out of barefoot shoes. It's literally just a few mm of rubber with some cloth. The black ones honestly don't look too bad either. Still kind of goofy, but not as gay as the toe ones.
I used to work at a running shoe store and my ~~*boss*~~ started carrying them to increase sales on our plantar fasciitis socks and injury recovery products.
>oh look breasts the shoe sales man >he certainly wouldn't lie about anything >says minimalist shoes are le bad
every time you israelites never change.
My israelitegay podiatrist told me to go to a shoe store to "find the right shoes & look at my stride".
Fricker never once watched me walk & sold me on oofos (which I loved but, weakened my ankles further hurting my feet).
I stopped wearing the orthotics. Got some whitins for my wide feet, some tadeevos for lifting and some gel pads to splay my pinky toe. Shit has never been better.
If he would have taken 5 minutes to look at how I was walking or even made a referral, I would have been saved so much pain and frustration. I couldn't even walk a block before.
>Barefoot shoes are great for your feet, just not on concrete or asfalt.
can you STOP THIS FRICKMING MEMEEEE AAAHHHHH
Running on concrete, barefoot, yes without anything is literally FRICKING EASY.
You know whats hard to run barefoot? Gravel on a hard surface of compact surface.
You know what easy? FLAT surfaces, no it doesnt matter if the surface is hard or not.
I'm so tired of this shit.
>are barefoot shoes a meme?
I was never able to properly run without pain until I switched to barefoot shoes. So if they are a meme, they're a good one to me.
Yes. The Western mind is spooked by this myth of “returning to nature” whether it’s diet, clothing, whatever but the state of nature they have in mind never existed and it’s all just a cope for the negatives involved with an inescapable technological-industrial civilization. In the case of shoes, people hate that they have to buy expensive mass produced shoes so they become convinced that somehow the shoes are the cause of their problems and not the earth covered in asphalt.
The state of nature people talk about still exists (at least a close approximation) in Amazon jungle tribes and shit. It existed in North America up until a couple hundred years ago.
This is for slight jogging on soft turf and nothing else. It's not for concrete and it's not for hard trails. We having engineered padding for a reason. No runners use this shit it's some stupid trend with weekend warriors. You just see morons from strongfirst shilling this shit. Just look at the price hike they've had as proof that they're a joke.
Actual minimal user for running as well as zero raise shoes. I only do 1 day in xero hfs out of 4 days of training. Usually zero raise and minimals are hard on calf muscles compared to knee. I would suggest people do their research or experience them and speak rather than speak bs.
Unfortunately minimals feel like you are running using wooden sandals. Given that they won’t push at all against the road compared to 40 mm heel shoes don’t use them on road.
"barefoot" shoes are great but $160 is moronic. I just buy older versions of Merrell Vapor Gloves on clearance for like $30. They're a better shoe anyway.
>destroy your knees?
The exact opposite. I fricked my knees running in normal shoes, then learned to run on the balls of my feet when I bought barefoot shoes specifically to practice.
Most people instinctively slam their foot into the ground heel-first, which leads to damage if they're tall or fat.
Tried them for a year straight, but the homosexuals at xeroshoes make TERRIBLE quality footwear. Literally fell apart and I had to get a warranty pair.
Zero drop makes sense though. If you want the barefoot experience just walk a few miles literally barefoot each day.
The shoes are just hipster shit designed to suck you of money.
Why the frick would you destroy your knees?
Jesus, when I was skateboarding back in the 80s and 90s, I used to take my insoles out and had totally flat shoes for years. I still have arches, and my knees still work fine at the half-century mark.
I bought some shore 5A silicone for 30$ (stuff used to make fake organs for movies). I'm planning on making a very thin sole to help with my running endeavour. I already have some decent shoes but an additional very soft sole wouldn't hurt i think
I'll let you guys know how it goes
i got a pair for $12 comfiest shoes i ever wore
>$160 for a shoe made to be as minimalistic as possible
Holy fricking scam
inflation man
>wildlings
thanks ill look into them
$160 is to pad for the inevitable lawsuit
how is a minimalist, flat sole comparable to chunky, curved, unstable soles?
Minimalist shoes have existed forever, they just weren’t always called minimalist shoes.

All minimalist designs are like that now. Its the ultimate goy test to see how much people are willing to pay for as little product as possible.
where are all the half sizes
you generally want a size up for barefoot shoes
you destroy your knees wearing regular shoes and walking like you would barefoot
>size up
This literally just means the company is too poor to make every size. It’s not a feature.
yeah i wasn't defending vivo
https://obsessedwithbarefootshoes.com/why-we-should-have-12-mm-of-space-inside-our-barefoot-shoes/
Literal pig hooves.
done
your foot and leg literally blend together with all that fat
That brand is expensive, i prefer wildlings.
That said they're not a meme. Elevated soles cause back problems due to slight posture change. There's also stuff about nueral feedback from foot stimulation but you're probably too much of a brainlet to need to worry about that.

Wildly gay and progressive. Frick them

The reason i recommended it is because they're one of the only ones who have a non plastic shoe option. All canvas (and then the rubber sole ofc) so you can avoid socks if desired without the plastic mesh leeching into you.
Barefoot shoes cured my plantar fasciitis. I use Lems, but if you have more narrow feet, I recommend Feiyue. They're about $20
>wildlings
first thing on their front page is diversity crap, no thank you

how the frick do you guys buy shoes online? it's such a pain to get ones that suit my feet

Well I personally measure my feet and then compare the results to the companys sizeguide

I have the shoes in OP and Vivo hiking boots I exclusively wear minimalist shoes now including Vibram trail runners.
My ultimate goal is going completely unshod (and nude)
I hate clothing and I hate how it limits mobility
How are the hiking boots
Very Very good. wide toe box, very light and look great. (200 plus dollars)

I can't even walk barefoot on fricking sand without pain, and I constantly get blisters just from walking with shoes
My feet are all fricked up
If you're in a position to then switch to vibram fivefingers with toe socks - blisters will be all but impossible and your feet will improve.

The human foot was designed to run bare foot in nature
Running shoes as we know them have been a thing since the 70s
You be the judge if shoe technology can surpass millennia of primate evolution
too bad my feet are big as frick
cant wear that libtard shit
This is exactly why you need to try barefoot shoes. Only that type of shoe is wide as frick
Would.
Yes. The Western mind is spooked by this myth of “returning to nature” whether it’s diet, clothing, whatever but the state of nature they have in mind never existed and it’s all just a cope for the negatives involved with an inescapable technological-industrial civilization. In the case of shoes, people hate that they have to buy expensive mass produced shoes so they become convinced that somehow the shoes are the cause of their problems and not the earth covered in asphalt.
>put on shoes
>feet hurt, have to adjust gait
simple as
i think you have to be a NEET or at least not a total zogbot to appreciate walking the way the Lord intended
The state of nature people talk about still exists (at least a close approximation) in Amazon jungle tribes and shit. It existed in North America up until a couple hundred years ago.
I get what you're saying but normalizing toe shoes to feed my foot fetish isn't a bad outcome
Great for squats
*blocks your path*
This homie can't walk without shoes, his pure white feet crinkle at the sight of a blade of grass.
Recommend me some brands, want something I can wear out too
Actual minimal user for running as well as zero raise shoes.
Can you find these in Bosnia?
Shipping them in would be a pain because of the shipping costs and I can't find any places that sell minimalist shoes here.
>destroy your knees?
The exact opposite. I fricked my knees running in normal shoes, then learned to run on the balls of my feet when I bought barefoot shoes specifically to practice.
Most people instinctively slam their foot into the ground heel-first, which leads to damage if they're tall or fat.
I paid like 26$ for some made in China barefoot shoes. They're ok
Tried them for a year straight, but the homosexuals at xeroshoes make TERRIBLE quality footwear. Literally fell apart and I had to get a warranty pair.
Zero drop makes sense though. If you want the barefoot experience just walk a few miles literally barefoot each day.
The shoes are just hipster shit designed to suck you of money.
>destroy your knees
moron they go on your feet

Thank me later moron poorgays
a fricking leaf
yeah I also hate Canada
>implying im paying more than $20 for a chunk of plastic shaped like a shoe
Why the frick would you destroy your knees?
Jesus, when I was skateboarding back in the 80s and 90s, I used to take my insoles out and had totally flat shoes for years. I still have arches, and my knees still work fine at the half-century mark.
>skateboarding back in the 80s and 90s
>fine at the half-century mark.
Nta, but some of us are old. It happens.
I bought some shore 5A silicone for 30$ (stuff used to make fake organs for movies). I'm planning on making a very thin sole to help with my running endeavour. I already have some decent shoes but an additional very soft sole wouldn't hurt i think
I'll let you guys know how it goes
you can get seavees for like 30 bucks on sale
