Idk, whenever you feel like it. Luke once a week. I haven't done them in a month though.

if you do them, make sure you are always doing neck/scapula mobility afterwords.
if not don't complain about the crippling pinched nerves after.

I feel like most isos they’re a waste of time just shrug at the peak of your dl and call it a day.

I do them for 1 set to failure & a few partials. Basically you don't need much volume for traps so a little direct work is all you need most likely. some people won't need any. Only a few would be needing to do many sets of shrugs to grow their traps

Pretty God tier for hand strength ngl but you gotta be benching and doing lats a shitload to keep the muscles symmetrical.

They feel good to me, so on that basis they're worth doing.

Every guy I see with massive traps doesn’t do shrugs

    >b-but I know this guy who shrugs all the time and has massive traps!!!!

Yeah but 99% of fitness YouTubers don’t do shrugs

Sam Sulek hasn’t done a single shrug in his life and has monster traps

Im starting to think any kind of Pulling exercise trains the traps hence why people who don’t train them still have massive traps

because traps (as well as delts) have a ton of androgen receptors and respond amazingly to steroid usage. 99% of YouTubers are probably on gear unfortunately. sam clearly is. I agree with your sentiment though (almost any row will hit traps and deadlifts do too), I don't shrug either

Just looking at the history of people I’ve seen on YouTube and every single one of them I’ve never seen do shrugs in their routine and yet they all have monster traps

Though this could simply be down to the fact the upper trap area has the most androgen receptors and blows up when steroids are used, hence they have no reason to isolate them

Yes. Do the farmers machine and then turn around and do it the other way.

I do deadlifts, plenty of rows, occasionally some full ROM lateral raises, and am just starting to practice wall handstands. I can't really think of any real life activities where my upper traps are my weak point. Long farmer carries are the only thing I can think of where they even get very fatigued. I don't really see the point of shrugs unless you just want bigger traps for looks.

For looks. Yes. When your shirt fits a certain way and u don't look like a box or a slope.

Shug is where the target muscle streches and contracts under load aka lifts the weight. Everything else is just some weird shit for traps
