I think the implication is that because they are similar in that they can't be metabolised / cleared from the body under normal circumstances, a similar mechanism would apply to microplastics.
How? It's supposed to take 600ish calories to replace the blood cells but that's spread over several months. You can burn 600 kcal by running for an hour or two. Speaking of which, donating reduces your cardio for an extended time. I could barely manage 5 reps of my deload weight for over a week after my donation. (My 1 RM didn't change though.)
>give away 10% of your blood >oxygen capacity reduced >muscles can't regenerate energy as much between reps
Seems logical to me. They tested my iron levels before the donation and I my diet generally has good micros. I was on a cut though so maybe I just had low glycogen or something.
>I could barely manage 5 reps of my deload weight for over a week after my donation
This is thw reason I haven't done it yet. My lifts would suffer.
I just kept barbell exercises to below 5 reps and was back to normal within 2 weeks so not that bad. Cardio would suffer a lot more but I don't care much about cardio.
>give away 10% of your blood >oxygen capacity reduced >muscles can't regenerate energy as much between reps
Your venous sats should still be >70% and assuming you replaced the lost volume and weren't dehydrated or something. I'm not sure if it makes a difference?
Although maybe if you're pushing it in the gym those lost red cells make all the difference.
That's a good point actually I've only ever looked at someone's venous sats at rest.
Genuinely interested, can some medgay explain this shit to me.

Still your cardio must be shit if you gas after 5 reps

I don't normally, only after donating.

Did you even read the article?
>Judd et al. reported in 2011 that its subjects’ performance measures normalized roughly three weeks after giving whole blood
Tracks perfectly with what I said (back to normal in about two weeks).
>volume >dehydrated
How is that relevant to oxygen capacity? Only RBCs carry oxygen AFAIK and the information they gave me said it takes 6-10 weeks to replace them. The volume should be restored in a couple of hours (they get you to drink water and eat salty and sugary snacks after donating) but you still can't deliver oxygen to your muscles as rapidly with fewer RBCs. I assume that between reps you need oxygen to replace ATP from glycogen. I usually get an elevated heart rate while lifting. Since oxygen isn't needed to contract a muscle, maximum power output is unaffected and I also found rest time between sets was unaffected (I use rest-pause sets so 20 second rests). This all makes sense in my limited understanding of muscle energy systems.
apparently fin fricks with pregnant women, I don't want to get sued by some roastie when she gives birth to a test tube gub gub snail baby after being given my blood
>I read that it's good for reducing microplastics
Welp, time to start donating blood again. I also have to wonder, ancient humans probably bled a lot more than the modern day individual does- and "blood letting" was a whole branch of medicine as dubious as it looks today.... maybe....
Frequent donation even close to the frequency allowed will make you anemic. Limit donations to 1-3 times a year unless you have high iron. Even if you eat loads of red meat it's not enough because there's such a huge loss with each donation
It's actually healthy for you. Your blood cells die after about 120 days anyway. Reduces blood clots that my enter your heart/lungs/brain. Reduces overall lipids/triglycerides/fats in the blood stream. Did I mention heart health?
Also, it's a great flex for the girls. "Tell me anon, what do you do to help others", and I answer I give them a piece of myself...conversation rolls from there to good times. The girls know you're clean if you give blood.
Also it trains your body to adapt to a low oxygen environment. Overall, it's a good thing for yourself and others.
Do you guys remember when the hemophiliacs who needed plasma from other donors to survive were advised by their own official council to continue to seek unfiltered plasma during the early days of AIDS? Imagine being born into this world fricked, only to be saved by modern medicine, only to be fricked AGAIN by your so called "advocacy group" because the drug makers lied straight to their faces. Imagine getting AIDS because you followed what was told to you. The 80s were fricked.
That’s literally a myth. Nobody got aids by taking blood donations. 100% of those people were taking hot cum up the ass and we’re just too embarrassed to admit it.
This did happen in the 80's. It was a big scandal for the plasma industry. Standards are much higher now.
When I donate blood the next few days I feel really good and I can feel that feeling slowly diminish until I’m back to baseline, so I can’t help but think there are some heinous chemicals building up in my blood that get dumped when I donate and then slowly build back up over a few days.

Yeah probably OP, only Black folk donate plasma, there’s gotta be a catch
im scared of needles they hurt 🙁

genuinely kek'd
I love broscience

PFAS isn't microplastics.

this
you are pretty dumb and not coping well anon
It makes sense
isnt donating blood one of the most efficient ways to burn calories?
oh frick that's genius
but won't you be losing protein and other nutrients at a comparable rate?

This is not normal you might be deficient in something

Infact it doesn't matter, I just googled it

too fat to sell plasma, and also bisexual
I just lied about my sexuality for the money
You'll feel like shit, won't have the energy to work out, and it'll kill your gains. Don't spare those israelite vampires a single drop OP
I can't because I'm on fin and min
I mean, you could just lie
apparently fin fricks with pregnant women, I don't want to get sued by some roastie when she gives birth to a test tube gub gub snail baby after being given my blood
fricks up your veins, i donated blood five times and now i have a fricked up looking hole in my arm. dont do it

No thanks

What if misses the clots and lets the blood clots loose? you will die.

It's called organ trade and illegal in my place.
Imagine slagging off someone's cardio and posting an article that contradicts all your claims and makes you look illiterate
