apples and oranges. neither have any real world application, so do both, or either one, or neither

you should compare bench press with push ups since they have the same motion

Both are necessary for true upper body strength/gains

Checked. Ring dips are a gigachad exercise, they aren't exactly comparable to bench but they're extremely good so keep doing them anyway

They give you extra stabilit so it might be easier to use the strength you build there in other areas of your life

Fair enough. I just made this post to get people talking about olympic rings

Then let's talk about them. Ring dip chads what numbers we at? Just started doing them weighted, hit 8 reps with +2.5kg (yeah I know lmao) a couple days ago. Deep pause reps with slow eccentrics as usual, good rep quality is essential on these

          honestly it really depends.
I have gotten I think 18 bodyweight as my pr for bodyweight, but I have gotten 10 reps with 25 pounds strapped to a fanny pack lel
          >Just started doing them weighted, hit 8 reps with +2.5kg
You can add 5 pounds a week to that minimum. Don't even worry.
this exercise makes my shoulders feel so good and free, but sometimes my bicep hurts. Maybe something wrong with my right bicep as I have had a big shoulder surgery in the past

Do you do any other exercises with them? I tried the front lever but it was annoying to master and seems more like a show-off move and not really important.
Ring pushups are really nice too though

            >You can add 5 pounds a week to that minimum. Don't even worry.
Yeah I know, I'm gonna add 2.5kg each session until I hit 5 reps on my 4th set (since my range is 5-10), then I'll wait until my first set is back up to 10 reps before adding weight again.
            >Do you do any other exercises with them? I tried the front lever but it was annoying to master and seems more like a show-off move and not really important.
Just ring pushups and ring dips, I did weighted ring rows in the past but they got annoying to set up so I switched to doing strict barbell rows and chest supported rows. Front lever pulls might be a bit better, since you're actually moving dynamically instead of holding an isometric. I do them on a pullup bar tho, not on rings

The only people who dislike bench are people who are weak at bench. My bench press is weak too, but that just makes me want to train it more.

They don't hit your front delts and they can't be loaded quite as dramatically because they are inherently unstable and the bench press uses bracing. Depending on your methods and goals and how it fits in with what else you're currently doing they'll either be better or worse than the bench press.

Make sure you turn rings out at top
