Are you really "strong" if you need all that stuff on to hit your lifts successfully?

Are you really "strong" if you need all that stuff on to hit your lifts successfully?

If you're in an emergency situation, you're not gona be able to plug in your headphones and put your favorite track on, you wont be able to put your knee sleeves on, you wont be able to put on your belt, you wont be able to put on your lifting shoes or your wrist wraps.

I dont even see the point of this unless you can do the lift with your normal clothing/shoes on.

Not saying they aren't homosexuals for that

I never understood the point of equipped powerlifting. Okay you can lift more weight with equipment, why not take a crane and lift 100x more with the push of a button? Kek

That's the endgame. Every time you fail to lift you get a new tool for the job.

    >People wear equipment when lifting weights therefore lifting is pointless.

So? Boxers wear gloves, boxing shoes, gum shield, head gear, groin protector etc… does that mean boxing is pointless?

      yes

But does it even provide more growth stimulus than just benching raw at a lower, more controllable weight? Sure he's lifting a higher weight equipped, but all the extra effort is done by the bench shirt, slingshot, whatever else, etc.

        >Sure he's lifting a higher weight equipped
Which is the point, not hypertrophy. Keep conflating everything and getting nothing right

It's kinda makes if the equipment is doing all the extra work, eg those shirts

A belt and knee sleeves is raw, I don’t know why you are talking about bench shirts which belong to the category of equipped powerlifting

I started using wrist straps to avoid getting a sore wrist for a week, why should i not use them and be sore and injured to be "really strong" for you?

Powerliifting is a fricking joke. Fat dorks using powered exoskeletons to do half reps are not impressive.

    Verification not required.

Lifting heavy is super impressive ,especially for reps. when you get obsessed with it though it quickly becomes lame.

When I stopped squatting I was hitting 405 for 12 to 15 reps olympic style, but with no belts or sleeves or reinforced suits. Just me and my gym shorts and vibram five finger shoes. I was lifting in a strongman gym at the time. I'd invariably get a look disdain from some fat frick that then took 30 minutes and help from 3 people to put on his suit of powered armor so he could do quarter reps with 675. There is nothing impressive about that. And no difference from videos of morons doing the same weight with a 2 inch range of motion.

    >Wearing straps whilst squatting
Wtf literally why? All you're going to do is make your elbows double-jointed if you need to bail on the lift. Why the frick would you ever use straps on a squat???

some power morons with terrible technique try to put the bar as low as possible, placing a bigger strain on the wrists instead of leaing all the weight on their back and using the hands for just stabilizing
