no OP asked whats strong. Normal people are extremely weak, so being strong among people who don't lift means you're the strongest weak person, but you aren't strong. Again, do you compare yourself to people who have never done a thing to judge how good at a thing with other aspects of your life? Or just the gym?

the reply chain you are participating in for all intents and purposes began with

                >so being strong among people who don't lift means you're the strongest weak person, but you aren't strong.
that's not how strength works. if you're stronger than 98% of the population, you are strong. simple as.

No the reply chain is someone saying 1x bw is impressive and then others repeatedly explaining to them that it's not and that judging how impressive something is by how well people who are completely inexperienced novices perform is a terrible metric
                > that's not how strength works. if you're stronger than 98% of the population, you are strong. simple as.
If 98% of people are weak as shit and don't even train those movements, then it's not impressive to better than 98% of people. This is like saying someone who can only play Wonderwall is good at guitar because 98% of the population can't play a chord

if I am better at chess than 98% of people, it isn't the 2% of people who I get chessmogged by who determine whether my skill is impressive, it's the fact that I chessmog 98% of people. Consensus opinion exists because what (You) think is impressive is irrelevant when there are thousands of people who think differently.

Neither your chess skills (nor your guitar skills in my example) are impressive. If you want to compare yourself to completely inexperienced beginners to judge how good you are, be my guest. >Lifting isn't a specific skill
Lol what? It absolutely is. Yeah raw strength will get you far but there's a reason the first time beginners do these movements they make a lot of bizzare irrelevant motions. Their bodies are trying to figure out what to do and a lot of the early gains are simply neurological adaptaions, and you continue to make those as you practice.
                >It's about strength compared to other people
Right, and you are choosing to compare yourself to people who don't train to get stronger at all and I'm saying to compare yourself to people who are both experienced and accomplished. You are weak

Look at the big picture, it's mog or be mogged and this just makes it easier to mog because if a normalfag finds some dyel doing 175 impressive your 315 would be considered almost divine by comparison. I just don't think we should be using those standards to discuss what's impressive here since it goes without saying that people have piss poor standards. I saw a screencap of a Redditor saying Jeff Bezos is super ripped and huge
when he just looks good for his age. When we use normie standards to judge our lifts we normalize their mediocrity whereas comparing yourself to strong people you humble yourself and also realize how much potential you have if you try. But you have a nice night anon

Yes anon. Two things can be true at once however. You can be impressive to normies while being a 1x bw bench dyel while also being a laughingstock on IST, which was my point. You're preaching to the choir regarding the comparisons to strong people. I compare myself to space marines and those aren't even real so I will never feel complacent with my lifts. Regardless, it's 1:30 here. You are aesthetic and strong and are verifiably gmi. Have a good one

Beginning to lift is dangerous if you’re fat, because you can easily get addicted to being much stronger form the get go than so many other people at the gym to the point that you don’t want to cut and just want to stay obese. I’ve seen it happen multiple times. If you’re okay with being obese, then you might as well embrace the bloat and go full powershitter

Post body. It’s always DYELs whining about this. Yeah it’s not good to do deadlifts with a rainbow back hitching the bar all the way up, but I’m certain that’s not what you’re seeing. A little bit of upper back rounding is fine. Struggling at the lockout is fine. Using mixed grip is fine (yes really I’ve seen people bitch about this on here).

Hitching is fine if you aren't training to powerlifting comp standard. Strongman allows hitching and they intentionally practice it.

Fat isn't contractile tissue and doesn't make you stronger but it can give you better leverages on bench and squat but yeah overall I agree. Fat strong people have a lot of muscle too fat people are usually just weak
