Are you stronger than a ten year old?

Eddie Hall's son (10yo) just DB shoulder pressed 40kg (88lbs) for two reps. You ARE stronger than a ten year old right IST?

Ya isn't it heavily advised not to start weight training until at least puberty? You can do push-ups and pullups and body weight, but doesn't weight lifting fuck up plates or bones or something?

It would only maybe cause a problem if they're being stupid and doing more than they can handle not using good form and get an injury to a growth plate which is hard to achieve

No not at all and its highly beneficial to start lifting weights early.

moron, how can he damage a growth plate by doing shoulder presses sitting down?

Basic logic suggests we all lift weight from day one.

That's why I specified body weight lifts as being OK to start with. I was talking excess weight that stresses the growing joints too much.

Easily? You can hurt yourself doing anything, especially if you're 10 and have the fucking coordination of a 10 year old.

        >Kids jump off heights and land on the ground really hard every day with very high impact forces on the bones
        >lifting little weights in a controlled fashion will affect their growth plates
        Pick one.

No. The only way you will stunt your growth is if you break one of your growth plates, but it has to be a really serious injury that wouldn't occur during normal lifting. If you drop a barbell and shatter your femoral growth plate, congrats you're 4'2" for life. The body does this to compensate for the injury so you don't become lopsided with a long leg and a short leg. If the injury is bad but not critical then you will heal and then continue to grow when you're ready. Doing intense physical exercise also stimulates GH, making it more likely that you will be bigger over the course of puberty

no lmao unless the little shit fractures the growth plate
even then this never happens during lifting unless the retard drops 500lbs and shatters a femur
