When the medical professionals in my family confirmed to me these facts I've already known, I simply never fell for CICO. I'm sure CICO, much like other archaic misunderstandings of medicine in the past, will be looked back upon as the "best information we had at the time", however we've known about proper nutrition since prior to WWII, however it got bought out and manipulated by the sugar industry. Now the USDA is for some reason making food guidelines for the masses? The corn growers? All actual diets stem from the principles of CICO. ie: Keto works because it suppresses hunger and reduces your caloric intake. You don't eat as much. Most people that do keto long term end up inadvertently doing OMAD at the same time because they simply never get hungry.
I say this as someone that did Keto for 9 months. I know how it feels. I know the habits. I know how it works. and I know WHY it works, most importantly. I will never say keto does not work. But not understanding that Keto and CICO work in tandem is just ignorance.

i'm not anti-CICO but i will admit that the only time i actually maintained a lean physique was when i did a frickton of cardio per week and strictly ate clean, zero junk food at all
i never counted calories or macros, just lots of cardio and 3 clean meals per day, meaning as little processed sugar as possible, and a limited amount of sodium, only as much as required to prevent cramps

I do feel fitter after eating 3 meals a day compared to one
