bunch of regurgitated nonsense in your replies, they seriously don't even know what gingivitis is probably. there is prescribed gingivitis mouthwash to get rid of it but a 1 to 1 ratio of hydrogen peroxide and water swished in the mouth without swallowing will do it.

Two times - in the morning after breakfast, in the evening after dinner (~20mins after eating). If you eat/snack during the day - rinse mouth with water and chew some sugar free gum (~5-10 mins while the flavour lasts).
For your teeth the biggest enemies are carbs and frequency of eating. Try to snack less and eat less refined sugar.
The most optimal tooth heath routine is low carb/keto OMAD unironically.

Thanks dental anon. Teeth are probably screwed already, but at least i dont have gum disease based on recent pocket sizes. Seeing a gum expert though, i think my general denist isnt very skilled in that regard.

Probably, no offense. Its really hard to match the technique you're supposed to do. Water flossing serves as sort of a crutch to that, sorta like electric brushes over brushing.

does tight gaps between the teeth play a role? the floss would just splinter into a thousand tiny fibers.

For me, yeah, it mean having to force the floss down instead of lightly shimmying it in. Puts unnecessary trauma on it, along with my using a sawing motion for years.

Invisalign, unfortunetly. Yeah, teeth can shift on their own gradually, but when they do, most times its wonky overlap and shit unless you got luck with genetics. Sorry.

I live in Australia, dental insurance has a cap for anything major of like $1k on a plan that costs well more than that a year. And because we have Medicare (public health), the public dentists are nearly impossible to get a booking for.
Even with the best dental plans, you generally have to go to providers that have registered with the health insurer (I live in a rural spot so none around me) to get anything substantial back. It's fricking aids

          Anonymous

I feel you. And what's worse is that some providers with ortho plans will try to weasel out of paying for adult brace work, arguing its "aesthetic only."

    Questions about flossing

Do you guys just use the standard string or some sort of device

Do you rinse the string before every gap? I'm not sure hygengic it is just going through everything dragging the same dirt around in between your teeth

but im not sure how effective rinsing really is

Ever had a dentist floss your teeth for you? They take a long length of floss, like a meter, and spool it up around one finger. Then after every gap they unspool a bit and spool it onto their finger on their other hand so a fresh bit is ready to go.

I used to have plenty of gums in between all of my front teeth, but now it's all receded away & I have visible gaps where the gums used to be. Not to mention how much longer the teeth are at the top/bottom, and how sensitive they are to cold now. Shit sucks.
