being bald in your early 30s

is it really that bad?

should you shave it with a gilette and look like a thumb, or buzzcut and let the horseshoe appear (and looking visibly older)

I went totally bald at 22 and only AFTER that lost my virginity, fricked multiple women and got my current gf, as well as entered grad school, got my own place, and solo traveled. pretty much every really good thing in my life has happened AFTER I went bald - in fact I get more female attention after shaving it than before

Idk about all of them. Some people are just gifted. Someone like Johnny Depp probably is on fin based on his forehead size but maybe guys like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt aren't. They've never shown any signs of hair loss in their entire career and they still have Norwood 0.5 hairlines.

They start when they're young. Ashton Kutcher started when he was 18 or 19 and only came off temporarily later in life to have his kids.
I mean it's an easy conversation for their agent, "take this pill and you'll look the same and get more consistent work", especially if you're a regular on a TV show.

                Anonymous

Ashton Kutcher had noticeable recession when he was younger though (that's why he'd tend to have his temples hidden). Cruise and Pitt had none. You could argue that they were diffuse thinners but there was no point in their careers where their hair looked thin. Not a single picture of them exists showing signs of hair loss. I'm sure plenty of Hollywood male celebs are on finasteride, basically any older ones past NW1, but Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise seemed to have gotten very fricking lucky.

Rule of thumb is that severe balding shaves off 2 points on the 10-scale. If you're a 9 it's not really that bad, but if you're a 6 or below you are fricked

Bro you are over emphasizing it. Like I said, in my other comment, my best friend is incredibly good looking and has a great personality, but started balding in his 20s. He always got tons of good pussy and it didn't stop him one bit once it started happening.

The problem is ugly guys and guys with no personality lean on shit like lifting and hair too much. If you go bald and can't get women its because you are ugly and have a bad personality that can't overcome it. Most women aren't going to choose an ugly guy with hair over a good looking guy who is balding.

Now that isn't to say there isn't insane women with insane standards, but those are female incels and you are never going to have a good relationship with them in any case..

Not everyone can be uberchad enough to overcome hairloss. For most men it fricks them hard. Why should they not do something to objectively improve their chances (i.e. lift and take hairloss meds)?
                >Now that isn't to say there isn't insane women with insane standards

I'm not saying they shouldn't improve themselves, but I am saying they should lean on it too hard because it alone isn't going to get you pussy. They need to work on themselves in other areas.

I had medium/long Dicaprio style hair until I was 20. Then I started just buzzcutting and everyone thought I was crazy or a skinhead but it was comfortable and I didn't even need shampoo. Lived like that for nearly a decade.

Last year decided to go back to my younger self and I gotta say, people (especially females) are wayyy nicer and friendlier to me. However, they definitely find me less intimidating which is what I was originally going for I guess.

The tech is advancing and they can take beard hairs from your neck now to fill in on your head. A couple of years back the Japs figured out a way to clone hair follicles, so they only need 1 sample from you and then they can clone endless hair follicles to put on your head. Your best bet is probably to try to get that once it's commercialized in Japan. It's probably going to be expensive as frick for the first few years though because there are so many rich baldies who have been waiting for this sort of thing and there will be a very limited amount of clinics who have that tech available

you are 5'10, norwood 2 (or norwood 2.5 before showering and styling your hair a bit), also a notorious jestermaxxer who needs to entertain women because you don't have a "glowing presence" and charisma that taller, fit men with broad frames have. you also studied a STEM field, and decided to grind your way into the upper middle class as a software engineer. yet still you don't seem to have a "presence" with women or ther people, your interactions seem forced or with some ulterior motive...girls don't like you sexually, they just don't see you that way.

meanwhile, natural-chads, just cruise through life, making friends with almost everyone. women gravitate towards them as well. they're not as rich as you, or hardworking, or as intelligent (actually they are more intelligent, because they're smart enough to not let their ego get to them). they are way more intuitive and funny, they can adapt to different social demographics, they have nerd friends but also normie friends, for this reason they are attractive to women from all demographics and subcultures, because they feel empathy with everyone. they don't believe in working your ass to the ground, any of that self-improvement shit, they just accept themselves and others accept them. you will never be like them, not because there's something you're not doing, but because of something you ARE, which is - the jestermaxxed careermaxxing coper.

You've got a good head shape. Do you still have eyebrows? Hard to tell here. If you don't have alopecia I'd recommend not being scared of having a tiny amount of head stubble come through, even if you're worried about it showing your hairline. It's the difference between looking like a cancer patient and not.

My hair started thinning and receding at breakneck speed when I was like 17. Id get my haircut at least once a month to keep it looking decent. Pretty short on the top and shorter on the sides. Dont dont like I did tho and hold on to nothing. I could have started shaving my head years before I did, and it looks way better than what I have.

Honestly im lucky it kind of suites me otherwise I would have contemplated doing a hair loss protocol. Though you have to think long and hard about the cost/ benefit analysis with money and potential side effects. My advice it to buzz your hair off no guard and see if the bald look suites you before youre too far gone then make the decision.

As for mindset I cant really preach here and pretend like ive got it all figured out. Ive delt with my share of insecurity and still do, though its not as bad.

I started working on very young so luckily ive always had my body to fall back on. I advise you always stay in shape like your life and sex life depend on it, cause they do. Also ive always had fairly mascualine interests, worked trades, love the outdoors, somewhat charismatic.. pretty much you have to diversify what makes you attractive. Were lucky as men that our value is based off a lot more than our looks. Im starting to ramble though.

Being bald is like a force multiplier for your body. If you are a fat greasy bald bastard, you'll be very ugly and very undesirable, but if you're lean, well-groomed, and bald, you would be very handsome.

Cope. Any man will look better with a full head of hair than bald. Some men don't lose all their attractiveness but there is never a case where being bald makes you more attractive.

If you have a really good skull shape, I would go fully shaved even if you don't have hair loss. Of course, if you're a fat slob, please keep the hair and look like Anthony from Linus. If this fat frick was fully bald, would he look better or worse with his current body?

Definitely worse but even his current hair is pretty thin. Assuming he had a perfect NW1 the guy would look a bit better.

NW2-5 can be recovered using medication and maybe a hair transplant depending on the severity. NW6+ you should shave it off because at that point hair can't be recovered anymore unless you're a hyper responder to medication.

      Anonymous

Afaik 3-7k grafts and depending on the hair clinic quality, whether you are on finasteride or not etc. you might lose up to half that with post-transplant shock loss.
Imo NW2-4 are good candidates for hair transplants, beyond that you need to get on a serious stack and find a good quality hair clinic.

Post transplant shock and shedding is normal. It grows back, you don't "lose" the transplanted hair. It'll take about a year to see the full results.

I don't know I'm a femanon but I always liked baldgays, even though my dad has a full head of hair in his 60s and I have really thick hair, like mane super volumous, almost afro-like.
I think it's bc I used to crush really hard on my maternal uncle (kek uncle-anons stay winning) who was this really successful, positive male figure in my life and he used to have the crown balding thing.
Anyways also I suspect it's because I'm a twin (with a brother) and got a lot of test in the womb so I've always been high test and now that I'm enhanced by var my tastes have only become increased for hyper-masculine men, and balding to me represents hyper-masculinity. I also like roided guys so I guess it's reinforced that most end up balding.
But I guess I could offset it with my hair genetics for offspring.

Oh also...the weirdest thing is that I actually gained a lot of baby hair since I started taking var. I used to be afraid that I would lose my hairline but it's the inverse that happened, now I have even more little baby hairs, I'm talking at my temples I gained maybe 0.5cm on the sides which is kinda nice because I always had a high IQ brain dome, I do have a big head but my hair volume sort of offsets it.
But yeah I used to believe roids strictly made you lose hair but for me it's the contrary...I guess it depends if you got the growth or loss gene. I keep winning I guess.

      Anonymous

      >and balding to me represents hyper-masculinity
Balding has nothing to do with testosterone. You can be low-T and still lose your hair because you're either hyper-sensitive to DHT or have may too many 5AR enzymes floating around which cause significantly higher DHT production even on the little testosterone you have.

Thanks for the explanation anon. I just mean visually it represents masculinity because mostly men are bald. It's just a visual cue for me that sort of exacerbates masculinity in a guy. I just think of him as more manly if he is bald? It's just how my body reacts to seeing him. I don't know, again it could be exposure to my bald uncle. I just like it. Also not saying I like all bald gays, I'm saying on a guy who is my type I view it as a positive trait, not a negative.

kek how’d you manage to misunderstand that. there are certain physical traits we as a society have associated as being masculine or feminine. short hair = masculine, long hair = feminine. man with long hair = gay, woman with short hair = dyke. it is what it is

I have heard that baldness being more common with men than women lends itself to a hyper masculine look. I don’t know how women feel about that but given the popularity of Clint Eastwood who was super Norwood I think probably there’s at least a niche for it.

Another odd way to look at it is some women might be insecure and like having a guy who has a visible flaw. Fricked up but you know whatever gets the panties wet . I also read that Jason stathem was really popular with a group of women bc he has kind of a thuggish look to him. Maybe bic the dome and take it for a test drive?

This is a IST wide problem.
They really think they can emulate behaviours of attractive, rich or successful guys and women will like them too.

And it doesn't work that way.
Women don't like videogames, they like rich, famous youtubers who make videogames almost seem cool by association.

They don't like long hair on men, they like a few superhero actors who grew it out for the role.

Anons get caught up emulating the trappings without understanding the reason for the attraction.

I take a bic to my head about twice a week and have a buzzer that I use sometimes which basically gives the 2 day look which is ideal, but sometimes the fresh shave feels nice.

Honestly I get the same attention from women as when I had hair. You may not pull 19-20 year olds as easily. But early-mid 20s and up its basically the same shit. And if you're 30+ trying to frick 18-19 year olds anyway you should probably grow the frick up anyway.

Personally I just felt a sense of ease and comfort when I realized I looked good with a shaved head, beard or no beard. It gave me more confidence than what I had when I was worrying about my receded hairline.

Finasteride only inhibits DHT, not testosterone (in fact, it slightly increases testosterone). DHT in adult men doesn't play any role because it only acts locally where it is produced, so in the skin, the prostate and in hair follicles.

Did you know how finasteride was first developed? There was a family somewhere in Shitholistan Africa who had a complete lack of 5AR2 (i.e. the enzyme finasteride inhibits) from birth and still grew up perfectly fine once puberty hit them. Testosterone is king, DHT is trash.

Afaik in the original study back in 70s the boys didn't have abnormal penile development. But there has been another documented case in Japan where 5AR2 deficient boys did grow up with micropenises.
That said, once you're an adult male even applying topical DHT doesn't lead to changes in penis size according to the studies.

you literally sweat pheromones. since most clothes we wear dont let our body wick off moisture it dries on our skin and clothes which causes body odor.

                Anonymous

                >you literally sweat pheromones
Incorrect. Sweat by itself is odorless. But sweat from certain regions in the body can release not just water, but also proteins and fats in different concentrations. Which are then broken down by bacteria, which produce the smell.
Now depending on what causes the sweat, be it to cool down, stress, happiness etc. The smells are different.
It's also affected hugely by your health, diet, exercise etc etc.
End result, the smell you produce can be a marker for your health. With more sick people who are stressed smelling worse.
While people who are healthy and happy smelling better. For instnace
                >According to 2015 research, you can produce a certain odor that indicates happiness. This scent is then detectable by others, stimulating a feeling of happiness in them as well.

So it's a rather complicated system and using anti antiperspirants or deo, or shitty soap, can actually create a bad micro biome there, and cause worse smell long term.
Think of it like nuking your gut biome with antibiotics.

So it's possible to smell like "nothing", smell worse, or smell good, depending on a variety of factors.

Eh, DHT is in the blood stream as well. When they did those fin studies they measured DHT both in the scalp and the blood. If DHT was entirely worthless you wouldn't get a percentage of people getting real side effects from taking 5AR2 inhibitors. Most do indeed tolerate the drug just fine though... at least in the short-medium run. Developments on the drug ten to twenty years from now will be interesting to see.

Inhibiting DHT leads to both higher testosterone and higher estrogen. The latter can explain all related side effects since taking actual estradiol leads to the same kinds of side effects but at much higher rates.

Yeah but it hasn't had widespread adoption for hair loss until only recently. In the beginning it was for enlarged prostate which is something old people experience so longer term side effects on them would be less pronounced and they'd probably blame old age. Only now in today's ultra image obsessed society have tens of millions of men in their early twenties mass adopted finasteride, so we'll see what this yields in another ten/twenty years and beyond.

Only minoxidil actually works and without a 5ARi your hairloss is eventually going to catch up to you HARD.
      t. been supplementing hard for years even prior to hairloss and only fin and dut helped

im also bald, still have longhair from my Metall days but it the enierity of my back head is bald, and my forehead is growing bigger by the day. wearing a bun won't cut it any longer. And it makes me borderline depressive, to add to that I can't even grow a decent beard. My dad and grandpa all are bald but at least they have s decent beard... in my darker hours I'm seriously considering to hop on testosterone just to grow a decent beard, I will loose my hair anyway... And I'm insecure as frick about it. Can't change that. It ist literally over for me.

Bro the metal community is one of the few ones where chromeheads are welcome, just shave it all off for a couple of months, see how you feel about it and if you seriously can't handle it then get transplant and hop on fin (if you're that far gone you're gonna have to do both). Either this or ascend and become a cap-wearing slam king, the choice is yours my friend!

Minoxidil by itself either doesn't work or only works for 1-2 years.

        You (s)need to add micro(s)needling

          Anonymous

Microneedling only makes minoxidil more effective at regrowing hair, but without fin/dut your hair follicles will still be getting decimated in the background until at some point the follcile dies and not even minox+microneedling can bring it back.

You know what's worse than going bald? Having good hair and having nobody in your family and your mom's family that goes bald until their 80s, but having a medical condition that gives u bald spots instead... making you look like a freak rather than just a bald guy.

    Thanks god.

I started going bald at fricking 17, by the time I was 25 I had an incredibly receded hairline. I’ve always had no trouble attracting women, and luckily I have a strong jawline and high cheekbones. But I did notice a drop off on female attention. Having a receded hairline shows a lack of vitality and especially if you’re in an urban environment you will get ragged on for it.

Women do pay attention to your hairline. I was able to still attract women and even have women give me their phone numbers, but it wasn’t the same. So, I spent 10k on a hair transplant and a coked up physician just supervised a quarter of the time. The actual nurses implanted the hairs. Since I workout, when they injected me with the pain killer my heart rate skyrocket to some crazy number of beats per minute. My whole body was shaking. Hilariously, Elton John’s Rocket Man was playing over the radio.

Anyway, the whole processes sucked. I had to sleep on an airplane pillow for a week and had fluid and blood leaking on my covers for a good month +. Oh, and the doctor tried to give me a moronely square hairline. Luckily my father came with me and made sure I got a hairline that fit my face.

Anyways, since I’ve gotten my hair transplant I’ve gotten definitely more attention from women, but a lot of women seem more intimidated. I should probably learn to smile more, I have resting b***h face. When so oost my hair I fell down to a 6.5/10 and now I’d say I’m at a strong 8.5.

So yeah, I’d definitely say it’s worth it even though I probably decreased my lifespan by 10 years dealing with the whole ordeal.

Balding since age 18, same norwood 3 hairline since then, hasn't changed til now 28. Just bad hairline genetics is my guess? But i still use minoxidil everyday just in case, and not only did my hairline get better insanely well(Seems like I'm a hyper responder) But my beard also became way thicker and it grows insanely fast. Same with my chest and belly hair. Have to trim it every week to not become chewbacca mode. My wife loves it.

I was like you 4 years ago. This is what fin and minox 90% of all these days did to me. This is true... The meds work to keep what you have but those hairs that dont have any root never come back with meds alone.

I am 35 and the only thing I felt was my prostate hurting bad during 10 days more or less, the nothing... All normal beside a strong desire for hairy muscular man using jiu-jitsu moves on a hot summer night

Looking good makes you get ahead in life. Being ugly means you're fricked. Balding makes any man uglier, why would anyone want that? Fricking npc thinking I swear.

Balding/balding automatically reduces your attractiveness by at least 2 points and will make you look older.
Your npc thinking prevents you from realizing there's not just ugly and handsome, there's a spectrum.

Baldcel cope. Good hair makes you more attractive regardless of how the rest of your face/body looks like. On the other side, balding can make you go from uberchad to fricking freak depending on your head shape.

Why tf does finasteride increase my libido and make my erections better when the side effects are supposed to do the opposite? I know these sides don't affect everyone and fin is generally well tolerated by vast majority of people but this still has me curious.

I'm over a 100 days now in with my treatment (0.5mg daily) and right from starting the drug my libido increased. Initially it was waaaaaaay higher but now it's settled down to a new normal, not as high as in the first month of the drug, but higher than before starting.

I also just feel better in general, more confident, more energy and shit. Maybe I was just low test before starting fin the increased test benefitted me? Idk. This is great and all but I worry about the long term... maybe I'm a candidate for post-finasteride syndrome if I was low test before starting? Frick.

*Btw it's not because I'm no longer worrying about going bald. I only first realised I was thinning four months back. Way before that my erections weren't as strong as they've become since starting fin.
