I know it's not safe, but what if it is literally impossible to get a spotter? Say someone is living tens of miles from the nearest gym. Will using the no clips, slide the weight off each side work? I'm just wondering whether moving out into the woods will kill my gains.

You'll be fine as long as you use no clips. If you get stuck tilt the bar until the weights fall off on at least one side. You should be able to escape then. It's just a really shameful action lol

I've only had to do this once. Was in my old gym during covid late at night and the only other guy refused to spot me cause of social distancing. I failed the last rep so lifted my legs up and pretty much power cleaned it off and onto the floor.

Just bench without collars on the end. If you are really in a life or death situation you can tip one end and the plates will slide right off.
People who use clips on a bench are complete morons who deserve it. Why are you using clips? What possible benefit is there? Why can't you keep the bar more than 80 degrees parallel to the floor?

I can only do 30kg because a lot of energy gets lost during the process of bringing the dumbell in position to bench. I just make it very slowly and lots of repetitions, I pay attention to every muscle and to do it right. I'm actually pretty satisfied with how it works out, sometimes limitations can be good, too.
