has anyone here actually gone through a HIT training routine for at least 6 months? If so share your experiences and post body, I have a strong suspicion that HIT is complete horseshit that probably only works for roiders

P.S. not an arnold fan either

      > have a strong suspicion that HIT is complete horseshit that probably only works for roiders
Why? Volume is always what is pushed by roidmonkeys, because it works when you are juicing.

        Anonymous

Anything works when you’re juicing, literally any routine will work
Everyone I’ve seen natty that does HIT or some roider 10x10 volume shit are ALWAYS dyel
God forbid you do something down the middle with a few sets of heavy intensity per muscle group

          > Anything works when you’re juicing, literally any routine will work
Right, but my point was that extreme volume only works for people juicing and it gives them great results. It’s why they lionize it so much.

            Anonymous

They get improved recovery and volume is a lot easier than high intensity.

Didn't you notice me add weight? This is my work set.

I used it for just over a year before switching, but I won't post body. I spent the whole time cutting weight and I'm still not done yet. 40lb down, 25 to go.
That being said, it can work just fine if you do it well. It's very time-efficient, but not very flexible. Most inexperienced lifters won't be able to succeed with it. I ended up changing programs for something more adaptable with more variety.

      frick arnold looked good

Mentzer was right about intensity, but completely wrong about frequency and volume. unless you're in the 1% of people like Izzy Narvaez, you will need at least 2 sets to progress on something

Did sl 5x5 for like six months before covid, did minimal calisthenics and knees over toes meme shit during covid, then did mentzers ideal routine for a few months and now doing Jay Vincents golden era system since May. Probably a little over a year total with HIT methodologies and negligible baseline physique. Training for like an hour once every 4 to 6 days. Lifetime natural (obviously)

Only started to add in isolation arm stuff in the last few weeks. Have previously avoided because I thought compounds were all I needed, and also had some rotator cuff and wrist/hand injuries that made it difficult.

When I started HIT stuff I was like 214lbs and 22%bf or so. I'm down to 186lbs and approximately 13% bodyfat now.

It seems like it worked at least somewhat well for you. I doubt you would have had the same results training 3x10 with that duration and frequency. Its probably not optimal though.

High protein synthesis activity in muscle lasts about 48 hours on a natty. You should train your muscles at least 2, more preferably 3 times a week. Once a week WORKS, but not well. You are leaving a lot of gains on the table

        >You should train your muscles at least 2, more preferably 3 times a week
how do you do that if you are above intermediate and don't want to go 6 times a week? FB sessions get way too long and exhausting. 2 way split are unbalanced and have overlapping muscle groups.

Look into Fortitude training, it's a good example of high frequency programming. It involves multiple "set types", stretching, and an overlapping upper/lower split.

Hi mister Mentzer, unfortunetely I have go do a second set because i was a massive pussy at the first and ONLY set of my underhand chin ups in the day on of your heavy duty program that i had to do another one to make sure that i hit mechanical muscle failure.

In two weeks when i will train again i will make sure to not need a 2nd set

      Anonymous

      >to make sure that i hit mechanical muscle failure
That better have included isometric and eccentric failure too otherwise you're going on permanent rest days

I like the way it feels and I'm making gains mister 🙂

Because, Mike, I'm not yet strong enough to do sufficient damage to ignite the growth stimulus from a single set.

      Anonymous

Of course you are. The damage is relative to your strength. See

Because Mr. Mentzer research shows 2-3 heavy sets is optimal for strength gains during compound lifts, and isolation of smaller muscles stimulates growth much better with multiple higher rep sets.

Pretty much any training style is within margin of error of each other unless you have exceptional genetics or roids or both.

Just go to the gym and lift weights a few times per week that's while trying to incrementally and progressively increase the weight.

Cycle different methods over the year for a novel stimulus and grow stop going all or nothing on training ideologies
