>bodybuilding isn't useful

>bodybuilding isn't useful
this lie has been perpetuated by skinnyfats and obeasts alike to cope with their shit discipline
i've been lifting natty for ~2 years now, did HIIT for a month then timed my 100m dash
it was 19s and i've barely ever done cardio in these 2 years

moral of the story, bodybuilding and lifting gives you the best physical base to succeed in any other sports (except marathon and ultras?)

    Yes, it's bullshit

Every sport I can think of which requires explosive power, the top level athletes are training with weights. Even if the training protocols they use are a little different, it's obvious that something as similar as bodybuilding would give you similar benefits.

Fun Fact: most PMCs require 1 BW bench press and a sub 6 minute mile run for combat roles.

That's the bare minimum, assuming you pass the other skills tests. Shooting, shooting after running 3 miles with a weighted vest while people scream at you and punch you in the ribs, swim test, 72 hour hump with shooting drills and obstacle IQ tests.

I've said many times here that as an ex gymnast we never ever lifted any weights at all. Literally zero weightlifting.

Kind of, gymnastics means basically training callisthenics style since you were 5. But saying it doesn't require explosive strength is silly to say the least

        even dips?

          Anonymous

Nope. No weighted dips, and actually we didn't really do dips at all. You'd see people do ring handstands and iron crosses that never really did any dips in their life. We did some muscle ups though post warm up and stretching. Keep in mind gymnastics training takes many hours (pros may work out 30 hours per week or more). A lot of strength is gained by practicing skills and I don't mean gay skills that fat lifters can't even do (front lever on rings is really not a skill, 7 year olds do these) but any serious skill.

So people who actually work for a living should not work out at all if they can't do your calisthenics+ part time job?

Do any of you morons understand the concept of tradeoffs? Are you trust fund kiddies?

Never said that. I only said you can build explosive strength without weightlifting, that's a strawman. Not against weightlifting at all

Gymnasts range from 115lb skellies to natty limit gigamanlets so this doesn't mean anything without a body post.

Pretty sure this sterotype comes from morons only doing biceps, chest and abs and then having weak as frick legs and back. Olympic weightlifters also don't look that bulky, and there is no way in hell that Ronnie Coleman sized bodybuilders can run for more than 2 minutes. But normies just hear "big muscles does not lean strong" once and assume bodybuilding is a waste of time.

If you add upper body or total body cardio and tranverse plane movements then you have practical fitness along with being hot and pretty strong.

I had to reread this post like 4 times after I read the replies to make sure I wasn’t having a stroke, is everyone on IST really that unathletic? 19s for 100m is an absolutely terrible time. I was doing 12 seconds in highschool and I was one of the slowest on my track team. My friends who were super out of shape could at least do like 15 sec

i don't run on a track homosexual, i'm doing it on grass with shitty shoes
also i don't weigh 50kg like you did in highschool

True lol I remember in school my soccer team everyone did it under 16 seconds (that was the slowest, the fastest mfs would clock around 12-13 seconds and they weren't even track athletes or something)

Exactly this. Also 100m isn't cardio, it's all power. If you have big legs you can run fast in that kind of distany without training it ever.

Lifting will only improve your image by about 10% or so. You still need a good looking face, hair, money, social status, come from a good family, have a good personality and charisma.
Lifting kind of becomes a drag once you realize it's sort of pointless. Most people do it because they have nothing else to do and also get socialize with others a little bit. The gym is full of incels, average people and wagies.

    >bodybuilding isn't useful
This myth comes from grifters in the """sports science""" and """strength & conditioning""" fields
Both of whom have to repeatedly come up with new bullshit to justify their own jobs
The weightroom exists for the athlete to develop his muscles
Then his sport practice is about learning to use his muscles in the most correct way (i.e. decisionmaking + action)
The weightroom begins and ends with bodybuilding training, if we define that as "maximising muscle:fat ratio"
    >reminder that sporting success is significantly and massively correlated with leanness i.e. the more muscular + less fat an athlete is, the better at his sport he tends to be
