bought a 5lbs bag of chocolate whey last week (I never tried that brand before but reviews were good and it was on sale)

bought a 5lbs bag of chocolate whey last week (I never tried that brand before but reviews were good and it was on sale)

the stuff is so unbelievably sweet I can't swallow it without almost throwing up

is there a way to make this bearable or did I waste my money?

    there is no way.
maybe try holding your nostrils closed while you drink it?
next time buy a small bag before commiting to 5lbs

Use more water? Try 11 oz per scoop

might work. currently using 11oz of water for two scoops, doubling the water might help. might also mix in like a teaspoon of pure cocoa powder for its bitterness (but would have to warm it up for it to properly dissolve, and warmth makes everything taste more intense... so might backfire)

Update; double the water plus cocoa powder did the trick. still tastes weird but at least it's edible now

Buy unflavored whey. Most whey uses artificial sweeteners for their flavors. If you buy unflavored, you can just drink it or flavor it yourself. I personally throw some milk, whey, and a banana into a blender and drink it that way. Or if I'm lazy I just mix they whey with a spoon, chug it, and eat the chunks.

agree that artificial sweeteners are bad, but I tried unflavored once and it absolutely wasn't for me, it just left a bad taste in my mouth

Milk makes it sweeter and the goal is to make it less so. Skim milk might bland it out a little bit but I somehow doubt it will smother the sweet aspects.

            >coca powder
Now that could actually work since it's slightly bitter.

things taste sweeter when warm and less so when cold.

Anon, it's meant to be just enough warm water to dissolve them cocoa before you add the cold milk.

I drink mine with protien milk, or blend it into a smoothie. Either eay I get 94g of protien per shake so even if it tasted like death I'd power through for the gains.

A pinch of potassium chloride will tone it down. Find it in the seasoning isle as No-Salt or Nu-Salt

Add bitterant. Had this problem before. I just took some grapefruit rind, froze it in a sealable bag with little air, and then ground it up in a mortar and pestle and then stored it in the fridge. Whenever I accidentally make something too sweet, I just add a tiny pinch of the powder to counter act it. Note that the stuff is shper powerful, like a tea spoon will make me through up in 5 secs.

I put this in half the water then stir well and just chug that fricker fast and then use more water after to wash it down

add cacao powder, the bitterness should offset the sweetness
