100% get invisalign/candid. It takes like 1/3 the time metal braces does. Only middle schoolers should get metal braces
This.
Only get invisilign if your teeth are really fricked up and/or you're willing to wear a retainer afterwards each night for the rest of your life. Wish my dentist had told me that last part, I only did it to fix a couple teeth that were slightly off, had I know the trays never fully go away I wouldn't have bothered.
Orthodontists still tell you to wear a retainer after getting metal braces. Whether you get metal braces or invisalign, your teeth are still going to begin shifting back into their original place when you stop wearing them.
>and/or you're willing to wear a retainer afterwards each night for the rest of your life
You have to wear a retainer no matter which choice you make. You have no idea what you're talking about.
You don’t need to wear them forever, eventually your teeth shift less and less. If you don’t want to wear it for several years though at least, yeah just get the metal thing they attach to the back of your teeth to keep them in place instead.
I had braces as a kid. Ended up looking really nice. Was told to use some plates or whatever 12 hours a day. Didn't happen. Still looked fine as a 20 year old. A decade later I look like a chinlet with an ugly smile. Will braces bring back my former glory or is it over?
>Was told to use some plates or whatever 12 hours a day.
A retainer. Normally used when sleeping, though some people wear them throughout the day as well >Will braces bring back my former glory or is it over?
Yes, they'll make your teeth sit better
>retainer
Getting massive flashbacks to elementary/middle school where 50% of kids had a retainer that they took out at lunch time and occasionally threw out by mistake. I'm glad I never needed braces. I have a missing tooth, as in it literally never grew in. Everything fits fine but if I had that tooth it would have fricked things up.
It's fricking moronic. Any girl drops 5 points of attractiveness if she wears braces.
I haven't seen dudes wearing them, but probably because they're less moronic than women and know what it's appropriate and what is not
By adult I'm gonna assume 18 and up.
I got my braces in 2021 or so, when I was 18. I'm still wearing them now at 21, I believe this Wednesday they may come off or it may just stay on for longer, I'm really not sure. No regrets about it. My teeth were horrendous and now they're not too bad even if they aren't perfect.
This, yeah.
I did have the initial gripe about looking dumb as a 'grown' man with braces but I figured it's not like I was pulling girls before anyway, and there's still more important stuff to be embarrassed about like my lack of driver's license
Man I really miss being a teen and making out with girls with braces and passing my tongue all over that metal
Kind of sad that at some point you understand that some feelings will never ever be experienced again
yes, i had them from 23 to 26 or so. definitely worth it to not look like a freak shit for the rest of my life. didn't cost me because i don't live in usa lol
I've had jaw surgery twice >you will look like you were attacked by a beehive for at least a week, the worst of the swelling goes away by mid week 2 >while not super painful you'll feel like total shit for the first week >have fun eating liquid slop through a catheter for 3 weeks >lower portion of your face will be numb for years
Once you get past the three weeks of having your mouth wired shut it's not that bad though, just need to power through it
Lower portion is numb for years? I thought it was like 6 months. Frick me. Anon did you have genioplasty? Was it worth it. I’m doing double jaw surgery.
My chin area and lower lip are still numb and that was over a year and a half ago, nerves take a long time to heal. I don't know the term for what I had but my jaw was misaligned where my lower jaw was jutted to the side instead of being symmetrical. Even post surgery it still minorly affects the way I look with my smile not being completely straight and the bone development on my right side being underdeveloped and requiring an implant to look symmetrical
>I've had jaw surgery twice
why twice though?
Because something went wrong during the healing process and the jaw shifted or they did a shoddy job, not sure which (or both). Second surgery was the same procedure but healing was a lot smoother since they didn't have to do as much work
>Because something went wrong during the healing process and the jaw shifted or they did a shoddy job,
That sounds nightmarish, hope your last surgery worked out better for you anon.
Lower portion is numb for years? I thought it was like 6 months. Frick me. Anon did you have genioplasty? Was it worth it. I’m doing double jaw surgery.
>I thought it was like 6 months.
Been told recovery can take up to 12 months, though all sensation doesn't always return. ('Only' 3 months for the bone to fully heal)
Yes. I did invisalign, and then at some point the invisalign started failing on my bottoms and I was just breaking trays, so they upped my game to braces. It's fine a few months of crap, and when it's done it's done. Literally nobody cares if you have braces, but they do care if you have Deliverance teeth.

my dad wore this mixture of early gen invisalign & braces stuff for me in his 40s to set an example so that I would endure putting on my braces and getting through the whole process. now thinking back it was an excruciating process for him, he had to drink Ensure to get proper nutrition because the braces frick with his mouth to a point that eating food became difficult
Early twenties white guy with braces here. I’m pretty lean and have some alright muscle and no one but close friends talk about my braces to me. It’s kindve wierd how no one ever mentions them. Women will not like them though. Like the Fpbp said definitely do invisiline if you aren’t prepping for jaw surgery or something that actually requires braces. That’s what I’m doing.
>get braces >shit hit the fan and now you cant go to the doctor to change them
there was a palestine woman who had braces and needed to change them but couldn't
My sister did this. She was supposed to wear braces as a teen but was too moody and out of control, so she had to do it in her thirties instead at great expense. It worked though. She used to have goblin tier teeth but looks fairly normal now. The whole process took about 2 years.
I got internal metal braces at the age of 28 because my wisdom teeth fricked up my mouth pretty bad. I consulted 3 different dentists and they all said I'll likely never be able to have them removed. I'm 44 now and still have to wear them so the dentists were right.
I guess you just get used to them at some point. I barely know they're still there.
Is it possible to get a wider palette with Invisalign?
Like I want a wider smile I'd that makes sense. Like the curvature of my teeth to be wider. I've noticed that people who have a "great smile" have wide arches
don't remember having my own toothbrush
yes I am serious, my parents never brought me to a dentist, taught me hygiene and simply told me to take painkillers if my abcessed molars hurt.
>and simply told me to take painkillers if my abcessed molars hurt. >pulled 2 of them with pliers when I was 17
I'm glad I didn't tell you your initial post seemed a bit harsh. That's truly horrible anon, hope you're able to minimize the damage/salvage whatever is salvageable.
Have you considered pressing criminal charges against them? Abscessed teeth can turn deadly, I believe. At the very least this seems extremely abusive.
picrel is my lower jaw when I was 17
I'm 24 right now and have gotten some very deep fillings but that's it, they're starting to rot which will result in missing molars on both sides. Besides that I have cut up and receding gums. count your blessings.
my gfs sister has braces still at like 21
idk when she got them, might have been in the last 3 years or might just still have them from being a teenager
My mom got them THREE fricking separate times as an adult. She had insurance ZERO of those times. We lived in a trailer. We didn't have money for shit. I had no college fund. This moronic prostitute needed braces a third fricking time because she didn't feel pretty.
I did this for 1 year and it's gone now.
While I had it the first few months were awful as I got used to it then I went on in life forgetting about it until I removed it.
I can smile now and show my teeth without being insecure.
If you are ever gonna do it then do it ASAP, waiting will only hurt you, just rip the Band-Aid off and get it done.
It didn't change my face that much because the malocclusion was not significant enough to require a lot of shit to be pulled
Get invisiline instead. Metal braces as a grown adult says either you're cringe or a third worlder
This. Plus it pushes out the skin around your mouth and gives you Black personface
100% get invisalign/candid. It takes like 1/3 the time metal braces does. Only middle schoolers should get metal braces

morons with no reading comprehension, I never talked about braces, I was just talking about invisilign.
You don’t need to wear them forever, eventually your teeth shift less and less. If you don’t want to wear it for several years though at least, yeah just get the metal thing they attach to the back of your teeth to keep them in place instead.
no, moron
people who had braces also need to put retainers at night
My ortho said invisalign couldn't move my teeth as much as they needed to be moved.
I got metal braces and it was worth it.
>Ruin your jaw for only $6000.
Why?
Yes, many people
Disgusting vile belly button
>disgusting
no, it's sexy, I want to hug her tummy
I'm 36 doing CandidPro right now. It's like Invisalign but a different company. I'm ~5 weeks in, ask me anything
Why are you 36 and still here?
Meh this place is a good time waster. Don't you worry, you'll still be here, too
T?Bro, statistically you're nearly halfway done with life. How much time do you think you can waste?
Too much of it, my dude.
>statistically you're nearly halfway done with life.
Only true for roidtrannies.
How much that shit cost in America
$3200 after insurance for Candid/Invisalign

Yeah, retainer, that's the word. Thanks for the hope, I'll book an appointment.
>retainer

I have a friend who got braces at 18 and finally got rid of them at 20. Her teeth look great.
By adult I'm gonna assume 18 and up.

Just date younger women.
Wife and I both just finished Invisalign. Hers only took 8 months but mine was 14 since I had to correct a cross bite. Far better than metal braces.
yes, i had them from 23 to 26 or so. definitely worth it to not look like a freak shit for the rest of my life. didn't cost me because i don't live in usa lol
I'm getting braces to prepare for jaw surgery.
I think it's gonna suck, should I just get a genioplasty? It doesn't require braces.
>should I just get a genioplasty? It doesn't require braces.
Does nothing for your jaw(s)/teeth either, why are you asking for medical advice on IST?
I've had jaw surgery twice
>you will look like you were attacked by a beehive for at least a week, the worst of the swelling goes away by mid week 2

It makes my dick diamonds when i get head with braces

Just take them off then not that hard. Removing the glue that’s left afterwards would be the hardest part
