It can easily be proven that no matter how much martial arts you train you'll always lose to an untrained bum with a knife.

For all of your fighting "experience" you are completely unexperienced and clueless on how to actually defend yourself. You will be as helpless as an untrained person when push comes to shove.
Don't delude yourself into thinking your martial arts "experience" will translate to a real fight.

learning BJJ because it's the "most useful in a fight" and you want to use it in a real situation one day is the larp. the broken bottle is what immediately invalidates your years of training.

it's the same pity I feel for powerlifters that go to the gym to lift the most amount of weight because they're so average they must feel superior to others in some way. so they declare themselves real lifters and better than "beach muscle" bodybuilders

Most people pulling knives in fights are scared shitless and just using it to scare people off. Some even reach into their clothes as if they've got a knife when they actually don't. Seen many get heemed by confident and aggressive unarmed/ad hoc armed opponents. The other guy might get fricked up long term but a pussy with a knife is still a pussy

This is because when you see a knife you WILL back off. They only use it for intimidation because that's all that's needed.
If you were to attack them despite that they'd use that knife on you.

          >with a knife
Yeah, obviously, but you're shifting the goalposts. I never claimed repeatedly fighting barehanded against barehanded opponents makes you better at fighting armed opponents barehanded.

But even here the same applies: you'll be better in a knife fight than some random dude with a knife if you've had knife fighting training.

The only way to really defeat an armed attacker is to simply knock them out with your first punch. That's the best way to keep yourself safe.
Any attempt to control the knife hand will result in you getting stabbed multiple times.

Ground game is more about finishing the fight and/or salvaging the situation if you end up on the ground. But I agree with you that in a self-defense situation takedowns and running away work better. Muay Thai + BJJ may be the meta for MMA, but for the streets I'd argue kickboxing + judo works better (or some kind of full contact karate that includes takedowns idk I have no idea how the schools and styles differ).

This is the persistent issue with people doing these "combat sports" at a hobby level.
They claim it's for this reason or that reason but in the end they still want to believe they're a badass.
Wing Chun. Aikido. Jiujutsu. It's all the same. You don't get jacked. You don't get fit. You only meet other larpers. And it's worse than useless for self defense because it trains you to do stuff that will get you killed IRL while giving you just enough bravado to get into those situations in the first place.

You are defending being weak. Like saying it is okay to NOT push yourself or evaluate your strength levels. Yet ALL of the bjj practitioners I know, and I know quite a few some black and brown belt, but they dont lift yet think they are very strong.

        This is an odd phenomenon

you have a very fixated obsession on what defines strength when you got nothing to pack it up except numbers in the gym done with equipment and not raw also mixed grip deadlift instead of underhand deadlift, curved to hell and back benchpress instead of flat back to bench press.

Why are you talking about my training like you have seen it? I pull hook, I pull mixed. I don’t use any equipment besides a belt because I am not a total moron like you.
I have actual measurements of my strength if nothing else, just training bjj or any martial art for that matter and walking around thinking or saying you are strong is hilarious if you dont actually go to a gym with equipment and know that there are people significantly smaller than you who are stronger than you.

The gym is an equalizer, the weights are static. Bjj is just humping sweaty dudes for awhile so that is cool for you
