bros.. ohp is useless for aesthetics

i'm beginning to realize ohp is unnecessary

OHP
> works front delts (pressing movements like bench press already do)
>works a bit of triceps

that's literally it

it serves 0 purpose if you're lifting for aesthetics

It also is the single most important lift for improving posture because in addition to the front delt it also heavily works the entire trap muscle from top to bottom. Also
    >does front delt focused lift
    >angry that front delts are what grows the most

      Better front delt:

      1. Take a lat bar
      2. Put it on a cable pulley set at ground level.
      3. Straddle the pulley and pull the lat bar up and away from you

It's an front dumbbell raise motion with a lat bar. Way better than the ohp

please post body holy shit i can smell the dyelness from here

The weighted stretch is the most important part of the lift. Front raises with dumbbells don’t actually put the muscle under a good weighted stretch, because when the weights are all the way down, you don’t actually have any resistance.

The cable allows you to have resistance all the way up and down, which allows you to have a weighted stretch.

“Cheat” front and lateral raises, which were used by bodybuilders in the old times, had the same purpose.

Instead of doing just overhead presses or just isolations for the delt muscles, why not do both? One hits all the muscles well, the others finish them off. Compounds are an economical use of time, isolations hit each head better.

Be more strict and lean less. Ez
Db shoulder press gets me way more trap if that's what you want. But you'll also get it by barbell pressing seated or standing against a wall.

This is a fantastic front delt movement

      >improving posture
      >front delt
99% of gym goers have upper cross syndrome aka overactive front delts, because they are doing too much pushing and too little pulling

Lifting lmao1pl8 over your head is only going to slowly compress your spine.

But what happens when you want to go pick something up over your head and you’re a puny weakling who can only OHP 95lbs? If aesthetics are your primary goal you’re pretty much a gay anyway.

It's good for traps and serratus but generally surpassed by the seated DB press for aesthetics imho. Fun to max out on occasionally though

          ohp primarily works front delts

and front delts are already worked significantly through bench presses

I just love the standing ohp. It's one of those lifts that you can put your entire body into, and it leaves you shaking after a heavy set. I tense my legs so hard to grind out the last couple reps I get quad doms. It feels so fun and rewarding. And if you're waiting for an empty rack you can just power clean it up for some warm up sets.

Unless you have longer arms, shoulders won't get worked optimally and you will need a strict press to work it

It will grow your front delts more than bench. There's a little trap work too. And the way you have to use your whole body to brace...somehow it just makes you look stronger.
