who says it's bulging? If its sciatic pain, you might just have hip mobility issues; that's what happened to me, which i am now correcting with stretches and massages

Its the deadlifts Black person, trust me. Dont deadlift but keep lifting and the disk issue will go away, I had it too, L4/L5 & L5/S1 disk bulge. Its not an issue if you dont aggravate it and it usually goes back unless its very bad. Stop deadlifting, I know what I am talking about

Same here anon. I got it looked at 8 months ago after I couldn't get out of bed without intense pain any more. Now I've quit my job and am being forced to completely change my life to adapt. Chiropractor, massage, sauna, hot tub, anti inflammatory diet, and working to correct muscle imbalances all have helped me. It's been a few months since I had a bad sciatica flare up. The most important thing is to get yourself in a position where you can walk fluidly without pain and walk as much as you can. Walking is biomechanically important for the spine.

You got any recommendations for stretches? I saw the superman and stretching your abdominals out can help. I may go for physical therapy, do they do massages there?

        Anonymous

Some clinics have an inhouse massage therapist. Prioritize whatever you can get with insurance even if it's less effective because it'll help your financial endurance. Massage therapists won't be able to do much about the area directly but if you get a good one they can work on the surrounding areas eliminating muscle knots and reducing inflammation which will help with blood flow and healing. Blood flow is absolutely key, you want your circulatory health to be strong.

If you're up for it, I recommend back extensions but only once you can do them with confidence.

This happened to me. 2 months have passed, I'm much better now, almost completely cured. No pain, just minor discomfort. But the first month was hell. It was painful to walk, I couldn't run, and so on. Thank God I can now. I was scared that it would be like that for ever

Welcome bro, i snapped my shit out age 19. Now 30. I deadlift 4pl without issues, in fact it completle cures my sciatica.

You have to understand, while inflammation is one thing that originates from the bulging disk pressing on the nerver. Sciatic itself, once inflammation disappears, it's a product of a fricked up posterior chain.

They reabsorb. It's not really that big of a deal if your under 40. Most people have asymptomatic ones.
    It'll heal.
    Stay active.
Walk or do other low impact movements.
After 2 weeks start squatting at 30-50% of 10rm.
Work up by 2.5-5% per week doing longer sets of 10-15 reps until you reach old working weight.
Worst thing you can do is be stationary, discs have little blood flow and only heal when the fluid in them is moved mechanically (through natural motion).
You'll want to do dedicated lower back and core work to strengthen the muscles there.
I like 45° hypers but there are a lot of exercises with a varying level of safety. You'll have to find ones that can be overloaded but don't cause immediate pain.

Friendly reminder that everyone over the age of 25 has some sort of bulge or even herniation. It just isn't symptomatic...yet.

yeah its over... for now.. it will get better.. DON"T GET SURGERY. Doc wanted me to get a spinal fusion, but I said frick that because I knew the risks with back surgery. I just kept getting cortisone shots, but I knew those wouldn't work forever.. Eventually though my disc healed to the point of no longer pressing on my sciatic nerve.

      Anonymous

Cortisone delays healing. It's a tough situation because ideally to rehab you'd take a month off work. With the first week being rest then a rehab protocol that involves strengthening the muscles in the spine.
Unfortunately in the real world it's close to impossible to put your life on hold for a week let alone the 6-8 weeks required to properly rehab the spine.

Happened to me and took 6 months to fix

Go to a physio they can help, frick doctors all they can do is prescribe surgery as mentioned in this thread.

What fixed me the fastest was decompressing my spine by doing dead hangs and swimming which eliminated all my sciatic pain while in the pool which was fantastic

Sleep on the floor and slowly start doing back extension with weights
More rep than weights, I mean

But really... Do something radical and try sleep on a flat hard surface
    The effect is amazing
