memes aside? yeah, most of what people say about it isn't true, at least at the one i go to. >lunk alarm has never gone off >no pizza parties (but they did have a small bucket of tootsie rolls at the desk around halloween) >for $20 bucks i can use any gym across the country and have access to massage chairs afterwards
there are lots of treadmills tho, that part is true
Yes they'll have an issue with that >free weights
They don't have racks anon. Smith machines and dumbbells only. Most of them only have dumbbells that go up to like 60 or 70 pounds. It's fine for a beginner but most of what they have is machines and cardio

Mine go up to 150 and have bars that go up to 60. Why don't they all?
Depends what you want to do, just muscular hypertrophy? Yeah your fine they got plenty of machines and a few free weights. Very serious weightlifting and powerlifting? Go somewhere else.
I recently went semi off grid, I work the night shift as a mall cop and just get my 6 to 8h of sleep on the job then I go to planet fitness to brush my teeth, shower and change clothes
it's almost empty wednesday to sunday but packed with fatties on Monday and Tuesday
pretty decent to get a good workout also everyone who goes there seems to be socially inept so nobody bothers you
>bench in smith machine >high bar squat in smith machine >RDL/SLDL in smith machine >rows in smith machine >pullups >decline crunches/hanging leg raises
you will make gains but not quite as balanced (i.e. stabilizers and sheeit) so it won't translate to real world movements / free weight exercises as well
cont.
to put this into context I hit a max of 290 1x5 squats in the smith machine, recently switched to a gym with free weights and 225 1x5 kicks my ass. The technique/feel is quite a bit different and ofc free weight requires stabilizers
What is the best gym to go to. I used to do bodyweight and have added dumbbells to my routine but I don't really have space at my house for a free weight setup.
>Legs >leg curl >smith machine back squat >split squat or leg extension >weighted decline situps
I really don't like the "Lunk Alarm" and the "We Don't Judge Here!" branding but it's clean and there's literally 50 TVs which scratches some primordial itch when I finish my sessions on the treadmill.
You can make gains sprinting hills and lifting heavy rocks. So yeah PF is better than nothing. I went there for a year and a half when I lived 3 minutes from one. Was like $10 a month so it was worth it at the price. That being said I’ve been to far better gyms, and if you’re looking to powerlift it’s not an option
Yes but only up to a certain point. Also cheap if you’re semi homeless and need a place to shower
also this, used it as a place to shower when i lived in my car

i like to sling free weights around.

Treadmill thing is annoying when there's 40 of them and yet girls always post up adjacent to the one you're using
the pizza and tootsie rolls went away because of covid

Fine for bodybuilders. You don't need super heavy weights to build muscle. 90 lb dumbells, machines and cables are more than enough.
Useless for powerlifting with the lack of barbells.

No they turn the gravity way down so all the weights are lighter
Yes, why wouldn't you.
Gains are made in the kitchen
