Yes you can, but you will stall / lose gains. It's like saying you can be fit and and still skip workouts occasionally.

You wanna stop? Just stop. Tell yourself how shitty it is for you.

having a grain of empathy for people with severe addictions is magnitudes easier than just choosing to quit. so many things are involved with an issue like that which you know nothing about. opinion rejected

The impact of alcohol of protein muscle synthesis is minor. Don't slam beers right after working out and take extra protein if you do.
There is a world of difference between having a glass of wine or a beer after work and slamming vodka all night long.

Yes. In fact in moderation it can even improve your social gains and therefore mental gains which pour back into physical ones. Just don’t overdo it.

Or just look for alternative ways to improve social / mental gains, then you get even more gains

What's the most IST alcoholic drink?

      Anonymous

Probably MGD64 since it's so low cal, it's also barely alcoholic. I can't stand it though, it's so heavily carbonated, just one or two cans makes my gut feel packed full of bubbles. I can drink 12 normal beers and feel fine.

Anyway, I desperately need to stop drinking, I just can't do it though. My best success was the autumn of 2019, stopped completely for like 4 months. Then COVID hit and booze was the only thing I could two for two years.

sound similar to me I got into a hole during covid drinking like 8-12 beers everyday up until a few months ago. managed to slow it down to 6 beers Friday and Saturdays and working towards lowering it even further.

Keep at it, I've been there.
Switching to Coors was an easy way for me to start because it cut down the alch+kcals and tastes like shit.

      it depends on your criteria
myself, when i drink its because i want to get drunk
so im always trying to maximize the ratio of alcohol/calories
so, i usually get a gin and tonic
straight whiskey is probably a winner too
vodka usually is mixed with something, and usually that something fricks up its stats.

there's other stuff you could drink with even higher ratios, but then we're talking fricking everclear, and i can't do that, or absinthe, and honestly, frick that.

Alcohol is kind of a letdown if you are on a strict diet. Being drunk doesn't feel that good when you're hungry, and the hangovers are 10x worse when there isn't enough food to absorb it.

Binge drinking is a no if you do it more than 1x a month. You cannot be hungover and fail to workout. You must stick to your diet and meet your macros.

Vodka has no carbs and is allowed in keto, same as the others distilled drinks, but idk if you are in keto.

Ethanol itself gets converted into carbs by your liver. A shot of vodka has something like 100cals

But why is allowed in keto then?

          Because keto is moronic.

Bro how moronic are you? Alcohol stops the process of gluconeogenesis. It literally lowers your blood sugar.

Yeah, but you have to change your mindset and definitions. If enjoying beer means sitting on the couch and smashing out 12 cans, or downing pints at the pub for six hours, then obviously that's not compatible with being lean and athletic. Just have 1-2 and either call it a night or move on to spirits with sugar free mixer.

I'm at the point where I really bloody enjoy a beer or two but couldn't stomach the idea of chugging fizzy yeast water all night. I'd be bloated as frick.

A 12oz beer can range from 100 to 140 calories.
I don't think even casual drinks settle with one beer.

A hazy IPA pint is like 200-250kcal. Which is basically the rage in craft brews right now. It's insane how people can slug em back and not realize that 4 of them is the same as slamming a cheesesteak.
