You know what’s funny about fatties who swear CICO doesn’t work? Is they are never genuine about their diet. Over the years, I’ve asked a lot of the extremely overweight people at my job what they eat typically, just trying to be casual about it, and their answers usually go something like

Also, never met a person say eating junk food on CICO is smart. Yes, it’ll work and you will still lose weight if your deficit consists of junk food, but it’s not really wise to spend what little calories you have on caloricly dense slop that isn’t very satiating.

After skipping breakfast you eat a 800kc lunch and an 1500kc diner and doing so still gain weight. And that is without snacks in-between and after.
It's that easy to get in too much calories. One spoon of mayo and your above your daily intake. Or soaking your chicken in oils or something. I absolutely hate it but it is what it is.

And I literally said that that “something else” is, because eating 1000 calories in chips in one sitting is your entire day of calories, which will leave you hungry and more tempted to break your diet. 1000 calories of chicken spit into several meals will keep you satiated throughout the day. (Also these numbers are just for figure purposes).

I’ve done it. I pretty much drank beer, Dr Pepper and packers of lunch meat without bread when I was depressed for a couple weeks and lost like 3 pounds. I felt terrible the whole time but it works.
