CANCEROUS OILS?

>In an eight-year controlled clinical trial of a diet high in polyunsaturated vegetable oils and low in saturated fat and cholesterol in preventing complications of atherosclerosis, 846 men were assigned randomly to a conventional diet or to one similar in all respects except for a substitution of vegetable oils for saturated fat. Fatal atherosclerotic events were more common in the control group (70 v.48; P<0·05). However, total mortality was similar in the two groups: 178 controls v. 174 experimentals, demonstrating an excess of non-atherosclerotic deaths in the experimental group. This was accounted for by a greater incidence of fatal carcinomas in the experimental group. 31 of 174 deaths in the experimental group were due to cancer, as opposed to 17 of 178 deaths in the control group (P=0·06).

    >seed oils give you cancer and diabetes
    >saturated oils clog your arteries and make you fat
almost as if humans aren't meant to eat so much fat ...
just stop cooking with fats altogether and your body will thank you

You can mostly avoid artery clogging by not being a fatty, so it's less bad

no you can't because lean people keep dying off

If I'm reading OP's post correctly the exact opposite is true. Vegetable oils clog arteries and saturated fats give you cancer

You read it incorrectly. Control group = saturated fat, experiment grouo = sneed oils

why tf would the "conventional diet" be the experimental group?

The conventional diet is the control group. Substitution of vegetable oils for saturated fat means they substituted saturated fats with vegetable oils and not the other way around

the experimental diet is the high polyunsaturated fat diet you absolute fricking morons
also the diet adherence was horrible specially in the experimental PUFA rich diet where one third of the subjects that died from cancer had an adherence rate of 0-10% to the diet unlike the control group
this study is old as shit and useless

You're agreeing with me while acting like you don't. I think you might be moronic. Conventional diet is control group, the experimental diet is the one where they replaced the saturated fat for polyunsaturated fat instead. The anon you are saying is correct was saying the opposite of this.

You need fats for more than just hormone synthesis but your point does stand regardless, to be fair. Once you meet your body's physiological requirement for fats (or protein) there's really no reason to eat more other than to make up your total caloric intake.

Sounds like its oil, not fat,

Its almost like unnaturally condensing insane quantities of material to extract one specific part of it then consuming that mega condensed thing so you intake 1000s of times what youd naturally be exposed to on a regular basis it is a bad thing your body cant cope with

The control group also had twice as many smokers, and once that was controlled for the groups had same amount of cvd. Despite this the experiemental group had a noticeable increase in cancer...
I always see the objection: oh it was like trans fats and margarine so if the trial is old and showed bad results, its irrelevant.
You can find about 2 dozen studies on animals showing increase in cancer so make of this what you will.

Sat fat from healthy meat sources or from McGoyslop's? Vegetable oils like olive oil or seed oils? Sedentary subjects, non sedentary, or athletes? The study would have to be so in depth it's not even viable to conduct. Just eat a healthy balanced diet. If you feel like shit, get too fat or skinny, do more research and tweak it.
