Yes ofc. The base principle of CICO and any form of weight loss is energy expenditure greater than energy intake. The human body is complex and various forms of nutrition and conditions can impact how the body deals with all that. No doubt about that.

Are you going to eat cold day old rice now because of the formation of resistant starches? That's a 40% reduction in usable calories. Or maybe you'll only eat your meat raw because the absorption of the protein and fat of raw meat is reduced in humans due to our evolutionary history with cooking. That's a good 25% reduction. It's not a practical solution for a lot of meals for anyone. Calories in and calories out is still the rule. If you don't absorb the calories then it's less for the calories in portion. Taken to its logical extreme you may as well just eat clay because it's micro rich but you won't absorb almost any calories from it despite it being calorie rich as well. It's a far more practical solution to focus on food volume for the same calories rather than reductions in absoption
