Correct. It’s about prioritizing calorie intake, however that also mean doing a little math to ensure you’re getting your protien and other macros.
In terms of micronutrients, not that those aren’t important but they really only make up 5-10% of the equation when it comes to weight loss. If you’re trying to count calories, it’s in your best interest to eat healthy foods anyway since you can fill yourself up more, so you’ll likely get a lot of those anyway through diet. The rest you can get through supplements

Nobody in the right mind actually says eating donuts is healthy as long as you’re in a deficit. If you’re trying to stay in a deficit, if anything you’re more inclined to want to eat healthy food since it’s lower calories and you can eat more.
