They're not. It doesn't have any long-term positive effects on the body.

cold exposure after training is really simple:
+ endurance
- hypertrophy
if you're a rooner do it, if you're a lifter don't do it.
what if I shower in the morning but lift in the evening?
a bodybuilder is going to want to have basically every muscle in the body on some kind of hypertrophy stimulus aka slight inflammation. cold exposure reduces inflammation and thus hypertrophy. there will be no time of day where you can take a cold shower without it nerfing your hypertrophy in some way, unless your training sucks and you don't have any hypertrophy going on to begin with.
cold water exposure actually increases inflammation. It's called the bounceback effect and you only notice it if you actually take cold showers: your skin becomes cold but actually overcompensates after 10-15 minutes and stays warmer than normal for a few hours.
The body will always fight to stay at homeostasis and overshoots, so to expose it to cold water it heats up and turns the inflammation up. Just like when you damage your muscles your body overcompensates with the repair and the fibers get bigger/stronger and more numerous.
I take cold showers after every workout, it feels amazing, I make awesome gains, it reduces inflammation and pain in my tendons when it's there and I actually feel like it makes my hypertrophy gains better. That's my experience anyway, I have noticed brown fat deposits on my chest and upper back which adds size there, I'm also white as hell with northern european ancestry so the cold makes me feel good.
I also find that very cold water improves my skin condition immensely, especially around my face and scalp, and doesn't dry out my hair like hot water does.

why are dyels so delusional?
A bit unexpected to get such an abrupt and aggressive response to an honest and open-ended reply, but aight. You do you bub. I enjoy my cold showers and they work for me, so I'll keep doing me.
Cold showers are overrated af. It's really quick to make it a habit. I take cold showers in the winter and don't even feel any difference right now
>saunas are soo healthy for you
>"nooo dont jump instantly in the volcanic lava you might die!"
>"nooo dont jump instantly in the cold sea u might get heart attack"
I've never heard this.
Though i doubt showers get as low was 40F.
Polar bear plunges have been pretty common around the world for decades, there seems to only be a handful of heart attacks and deaths.
pretty big fricking difference between small amount of water being showered on you, water which you can easily turn off at any point... compared to jumping into a fricking lake where you are entirely engulfed and your entire body is instantly shocked.
what a stupid fricking post unironically kys
pre vax
